Connecting your phone

  • Connect the handset.
  • Plug the telephone into a telephone socket with active service.

INSTALLING THE PHONE

Your phone should be placed on a level surface

  • Plug one end of the spiral cord into the handset at (A), and the other end into the socket on the left side of the phone (B). See Fig. 2
  • lug the telephone cord into the socket at the bottom of the set and the wall socket (C).
  • For desktop position, always install the footstand (D). See Fig. 3

BASE STATION KEYS (Fig. 1)

  • 1: 6 memory photo keys

WALL MOUNTING

  • Remove the footstand.
  • Turn over the wall mounting peg (small grooved plastic part) on the base.
  • Drill two 0.25-inch (6 mm) holes 4 inches (10 cm) apart.
  • Fit two wall plugs and screw-in wood screws (3.5 mm in diameter and 30 mm long).
  • Mount the base on the 2 screws by pulling it downwards.

INSTALL PICTURES ON THE PHOTO BUTTONS

  • Remove the clear button cap by pressing inward on the vertical edge while lifting the cap upwards.
  • Cut the picture using the template shown in the Photo Cutting Guide section at the end of this guide.
  • Insert the picture inside the cap and then press the cap firmly downwards on top of the black button.

USING THE PHONE

MAKE A CALL/ REDIAL

  • Pick up the handset or press ‘DIAL ‘ orange key.
  • Dial the number using the number pad or press one of the six Photo Button keys.
  • If someone answered and you pressed DIAL button, then pick up the handset and have your conservation. (not for typical speakerphone conversations – microphone works from less than 12 inches only)
  • If no one answered hang up the handset or press the DIAL button again to hang up.
  • To end a call, replace the handset on the base.

DIAL BACK AN OUTGOING NUMBER

  • Pick up the handset or press key.
  • Press key.
ANSWERING A CALL

To answer:

  • Pick up the handset or press the key. (hands-free mode).

To end a call:

  • Replace the handset on its base or press key.

HANDSET/EAR-PIECE VOLUME ADJUSTMENT

  • Press to increase the volume level
  • Press to decrease the volume level.

STORING NUMBERS ON THE PHOTO BUTTONS

  • Pick up the handset
  • Press hold the selected photo button for about 3 seconds until you hear a ‘beep’, then release the button.
  • Enter the number using the keypad as you would normally dial. Ignore any dial tones, busy signs ~ or other sounds you may hear during the programming process.
  • Press release the same photo key again. Do not long-press or wait for a beep this time.
  • Hang up the receiver. The number is saved. Stored numbers will be retained when the phone is unplugged.

FLASH (CALL WAITING)

The Flash key activates the call waiting feature (if available from your service provider) allowing you to accept a second incoming call while already on the line with a call.

TROUBLESHOOTING

  • No dial tone? Make sure both the handset cord and the phone jack cord are connected & seated properly. This device may not work with some facilities or residences that use PBX or VolP systems. Please check with your service provider to make sure your service is compatible. Please contact SMPL Customer Support as we may be able to help.
  • Photo Memory Button stored number is not working or not dialing correctly? Program 11 digits (1 + area code + phone number) when storing numbers. Re-program the button using the full 11 digits using the steps outlined under the ‘STORING NUMBERS FOR (6) PHOTO BUTTONS’ section.
  • Static/Interference online? Check cords and connections. Relocate the phone to a different phone jack.
