DOD FX60B STEREO CHORUS

DOD-FX60B-STEREO-CHORUS-PRODUC T

To get the best results from your FX60B, FX62, and FX65 please carefully read the instructions in this manual.

WHAT THE FX60B, FX62 AND FX65 STEREO CHORUSES DO

The FX60B, FX62, and FX65 chorus units are variable delay units that give the impression that more than one instrument is playing. They do this by delaying the sound of the original instrument a small amount (4 to 6 milliseconds) and continuously varying the amount of delay. Continuously varying the delay changes the pitch of the delayed signal. The delayed, slightly pitch shifted signal is mixed with the original signal and results in the chorus effect.

CONNECTING THE FX608, FX62 AND FX65

Connect the INPUT of the FX60B, FX62 or FX65 to your guitar with a ¼-inch mono phone plug. Connect the OUTPUT of the FX60B, FX62 or FX65 to your amplifier (or to the input of the other effects if you re using them) with a ½-inch mono phone plug.

All of the Chorus units create a stereo effect. These units may be used connected directly to two different amplifiers in a stereo setup or may be used to create a stereo effect as the last effect unit in a multiple-effect setup. (The FX608 uses a stereo ¼-inch plug into the OUTPUT for stereo applications. See the wiring diagram below.) To eliminate the need for a 9 volt battery, attach either the DOD PS 3 or the DOD FX105 power supply to the 3.5mm A.C. adapter jack.

To use the DOD Stereo Chorus FX60 in the stereo mode a 1/4″ stereo (3 conductor) plug must be used. The “tip” and “ground” will produce channel A and the “ring” and “ground” will produce channel B.

FEATURES

  • The FX60B Stereo Chorus is a two-control knob chorus effect offering adjustment of the sweep

SPEED and DEPTH.

  • The FX62 Bass Stereo Chorus is a three-control knob chorus effect, optimized for the bass guitar, and offering adjustment of the sweep SPEED, the DELAY TIME, and the sweep DEPTH.

The FX65 Stereo Chorus is a three-control chorus effect, offering adjustment of the sweep SPEED, the DELAY TIME, and the sweep DEPTH.

The FX60B Stereo Chorus, the FX62 Bass Stereo Chorus, and the FX65 Stereo Chorus also feature:

  • Stereo effect generation for stereo amplifier setups.
  • FET switching for “clickless” insertion into the signal path.
  • LED indicator shows the status of the effect and battery condition.
  • No tools, easy access battery compartment.
  • Adapter jack for A.C. operation.
  • Rugged die-cast metal case.
  • Three-year limited warranty.
  • = Rubber non-skid bottom.

CONTROLS

  • SPEED : Adjusts the speed of delay variation from 8 cycles per second up to 8 cycles per second. This control is used in conjunction with the control to get a good-sounding chorus effect.
  • DELAY TIME (FX62 & FX65): This control adjusts the center delay time from which the delay time is varied for the chorus effect.
  • DEPTH : Sets the total amount of delay time variation for the depth (or total change) of the delay sweep.
  • FOOT SWITCH : Switches the chorus effect IN/OUT of the signal path.
  • LED INDICATOR: Lights up when the chorus is enabled.
  • JACKS : INPUT, OUTPUT 1 (This is a single stereo jack on the FX60B), OUTPUT 2 (FX62 & FX65), A.C. ADAPTER. (Use either the DOD PS 3 or DOD FX105 power supply to eliminate the need for batteries.)

OPERATION OF THE FX60B, FX62, AND FX65

The FX60B Stereo Chorus, FX62 Bass Stereo Chorus, and FX65 Stereo Chorus effect units simulate the sound of two instruments playing trom one instrument. Pleasing chorus effects are a careful balance of varying the amount of delay time (DEPTH) and the SPEED at which the delay time variation is swept through. The most useful chorus effects are usually obtained with either a slow sweep SPEED through a large delay time variance (DEPTH) or a faster sweep SPEED through a small delay time variance (a shallow DEPTH). Too fast a sweep SPEED through a wide time variation DEPTH results in an unpleasant warbly “out of tune” sound. Also the DELAY TIME and the DEPTH controls average each other out. When the DELAY TIME and DEPTH controls are set at maximum, the DELAY TIME will have little effect, and when the DELAY TIME and the DEPTH controls are set at minimum, the DEPTH control will seem to have little effect. The best chorus effect results from using two amplifiers in a stereo setup. The sound of the chorus effect is a matter of taste and will change according to the type of music you play. The following are starting points for you to begin to make your own chorus effect sounds.

The FX60B Stereo Chorus

The FX60B is a chorus effect pedal with a fixed delay time range. This effect unit allows a wide range of chorus sounds through the adjustment of the SPEED and DEPTH controls.

Using the FX60B for a “light chorus” effect

The FX62 Bass Stereo Chorus

The FX62 Bass Stereo Chorus effect pedal is optimized especially for the bass guitar. The delay time range has been extended to work with the lower notes of the bass. The DELAY TIME control adds the ability to set the center time about which the delay time will vary. The FX62 adds warmth and thickens the sound of the bass guitar.

Using the FX62 as a stereo generator with no modulation or chorus effect

The FX65 Stereo Chorus

The FX65 Stereo Chorus effect pedal gives you wide-ranging sounds for use in nearly any style of music. Any electronically amplified sound including the voice can be enhanced by the chorus effect from this pedal. The three controls, SPEED, DELAY TIME, and DEPTH, give you great variation and versatility in the use of the FX65. As with the other chorus effect units, a good sounding chorus effect is achieved through a balance of the SPEED and DEPTH controls.

Using the FX65 Stereo Chorus to get a “thick chorus” effect

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • When you’re not going to use the FX60B, FX62, or Exus be sure to unplug the INPUT jack so as to not waste the battery.
  • It you are not going to use the FX60B, FX62, or FX85 for an extended period of time, remove the battery to avoid possible damage to the unit fromleaking battery fluids.
  • When the FX60B, FX62, or FX65 fails to switch in or out or the LED indicator stays lighted, the battery is probably used up and needs to be replaced.
  • It is a good idea to keep a fresh battery in the battery compartment while you’re playing the FX60B, FX62, or FX65 so that even if the A.C. adapter should accidentally come out, your FX60B, FX62, or FX65 will continue to work.
  • The use of any other A.C. adapter other than a DOD PS 3 or DOD FX105 will void the warranty of this product.
  • Unauthorized repair of the FX60B, FX62, or FX65 will void the warranty. Should your chorus unit require service, contact your DOD FX pedal dealerfor return/repair information.

A stereo multiple effects setup using the FX60B, FX62, or FX65 might look like this:
