DESCRIPTION
- The Electro-Voice Model DO54 is a dynamic omnidirectional microphone designed for demanding professional applications where a compact, wide-range omnidirectional microphone is needed. The microphone is ideal for boom or stand mounting in recording and broadcast use, and is also excellent for close-up, handheld use in stage and interview situations. The DO54 was designed with a connector in mind, and it fits very comfortably into the hand when a standard broadcast connector is plugged into the microphone.
- Smooth, wide-range response, and low sensitivity to mechanical shock, combined with functional “easy to hold” styling, makes the DO54 a versatile professional microphone suited for any number of uses. The nonreflecting, fawn beige micomatte finish of the DO54 eliminates hot spots for on-camera use.
- This microphone features the exclusive, non-metallic Electro-Voice Acoustalloy® diaphragm that assures very smooth frequency response and is impervious to damage from extremes of temperature and humidity.
APPLICATIONS
The D054, an omnidirectional microphone, is outstanding in applications where uniform sensitivity in all directions is desirable.
- Frequency response, flat and uniform across the entire usable range makes the DO54 a good choice for:
- Symphony and other wide- range recording situations where reverberation is not a problem.
- Calibration for use as a secondary standard in acoustic measurements where information below 50 Hz is unimportant.
- The small diameter (¾-inch shank) makes the DO54 comfortable and convenient for handheld use by:
- Vocalist, for stage and television work.
- News, reporters, for interviews.
ARCHITECTS’ AND ENGINEERS’ SPECIFICATIONS
- The microphone shall be an omnidirectional dynamic type with wide-range frequency response, uniform from 50 to 18,000 Hz. The diaphragm shall be a non-metallic Acoustalloy and shall have a magnetic shield to prevent dust and magnetic particles from reaching the diaphragm. The impedance shall be such that the microphone will match all low impedance inputs (50 to 250 ohms). The line shall be balanced to ground and phased.
- The output level shall be -58 dB (0 dB = 1 mW/10 dynes/cm?). ElA sensitivity rating shall be – 151 dB. The case shall be made of steel. Overall length of the microphone shall be 146.1 mm (5.75 in.). Major diameter shall not exceed 28.6 mm (1.13 in.) and minor (or shank) diameter shall not exceed 19.1 mm (0.75 in.). Finish shall be non-reflecting, fawn beige micrometer. A 4.6 m (15 foot), 2-conductor, shielded, broadcast-type synthetic rubber jacketed cable with Switch craft A3F connector installed, shall be provided. The microphone shall have a built-in cable connector such that it will mate with the Switch craft A3F connector, or equivalent. A Model 312A clamp and vinyl carrying pouch shall be supplied.
