Important Safety Instructions
Terminals marked with this symbol carry electrical current of sufficient
magnitude to constitute risk of electric shock. Use only high-quality
commercially-available speaker cables
with plugs pre-installed. All other installation or modification should be
performed only by qualified personnel.
This symbol, wherever it appears, alerts you to the presence of uninsulated
dangerous voltage inside the enclosure – voltage that may be sufficient to
constitute a risk of shock.
This symbol, wherever it appears, alerts you to important operating and
maintenance instructions in the accompanying literature. Please read the
manual.
Caution
To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the top cover (or the rear
section). No user serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified
personnel.

Warning
Failure to observe the following warnings may lead to fatality or serious
injury from fi re or electric shock.
Before installing the card, you must refer to the owner’s manual of the host
device or to klarkteknik.com to verify that your host device supports this
card, and to verify the number of cards that can be installed in combination
with other MIDAS or third-party cards.
-
Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the card.
Do not apply excessive force to board connectors or other board components. Mishandling of board may lead to shock, fi re hazard, or equipment failure. -
Disconnect the power cable from the main unit before installing this card to eliminate shock hazard.
Caution
Failure to observe the following precautions may lead to personal injury, or
may result in damage to equipment or other property.
- Do not touch the board’s metallic leads (pins) when handling the card. Pins are sharp and may cause injury.
- The card is electrostatic-sensitive. Before handling the card, you should briefly touch the main unit’s metal casing with your bare hand so as to drain off any static charge from your body. MUSIC Group assumes no responsibility for data loss, equipment damage, or injury caused by inappropriate handling or usage.
Introduction
The KT-AES50 card is a multichannel audio interface expansion card for the KlarkTeknik DN9650/DN9652 Network Bridge that allows up to 48 channels of AES50 format audio to be converted to a different protocol or sample rate. This sample-rate conversion therefore allows AES50 networks operating at 96 kHz to connect to AES50 networks operating at 48 kHz. This expansion card provides 48 channels of AES50 digital audio operating at either 48 kHz or 96 kHz on two connectors.
Installation
Before you install the KT-AES50 card in the network module slot of the
DN9650/DN9652 Network Bridge, you must check klarkteknik.com to verify that
the unit’s host firmware supports this card. We recommend that you
periodically check your unit’s product page for firmware updates. Caution –
before installing the KT-AES50 into the DN9650/DN9652 Network Bridge, you must
make sure that the unit’s power switch is turned off . Malfunctions or
electrical shock may occur otherwise.
To install an interface I/O card: DN9650/DN9652
- Make sure that the host unit’s power is turned off .
- Loosen the 19 screws fastening the chassis cover, then remove the chassis cover from the main chassis. Keep the cover and the screws in a safe place.
- Before removing the KT-AES50 card from its protective bag, we recommend touching the grounded metal chassis of the console to prevent electrostatic discharges affecting the sensitive electronic components. It is generally a good idea to hold the card either by the face plate or by the two small handles, but never touching the components on the circuit board directly.
- Identify the Network Module connectors (two male 40 pin vertical connectors). Align the KT-AES50 female connectors with the DN9650 connectors and apply vertical pressure being very careful not to bend the pins. Push the card all the way into the slot to ensure that the contacts of the card are correctly inserted.
- Fasten the card using the included screws (2 in the faceplate and 2 to the rear of the PCB). Be aware that damage or malfunctions may occur if the card is not fastened.
- Replace the chassis cover and replace all screw before the unit is powered on.
