RS-232/485 Configuration
The product supports RS-232 and RS-485 communication protocols. Follow the
instructions below for the respective configurations:
RS-232 Configuration:
- Connect the 26-pin DRIVE I/O connector (female D-subminiature) to the COM port
- Configure the Drive I/O Connector pins as follows:
- Pins 1-9: Enable+
- Pin 21: DGND
- Pins 2-8: Encoder A+
- Pin 16: Step+
- Pin 10: Direction+
- Pin 11: AIN+
- Pin 15: DGND
- Pin 17: RESET+
- Connect the required twisted pair wiring for pins indicated by a box surrounding them
RS-485 Configuration:

Fuse Information
Aries has no internal fuses. For safety, you must provide a fuse in each of

Drives w/Step and Direction
AR-01xE to AR-13xE Servo Drives w/Step and Direction
Warning
- You must connect the drive’s protective conductor terminal, marked with the earth symbol , to a reliable system Protective Earth.
- The drive’s connector strip terminals are at hazardous voltages when power is applied to the drive, and up to several minutes after power is removed. Lower voltages may still be present for several minutes after power is removed.
During normal operation, these high-voltage terminals must not be accessible to the user.
