Start Sensor Session
X2 Tslim Insulin Pump
These instructions are specific to the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor.
- For info on starting other compatible continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensors, please refer to the pump user guide.
⚑ Note: These instructions are provided as a reference tool for pump users and caregivers who are already familiar with the use of an insulin pump and with insulin therapy in general. Not all screens are shown. For more detailed information on the operation of the t:slim X2 pump, please refer to its user guide. Important safety information is included at the end of this document.
The t:connect mobile app and t:slim X2 insulin pump must be paired prior to
starting a FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor session. Please follow the
detailed instructions in the Pairing the Mobile App Quick Reference Guide to
begin the pairing process.
Once the pairing process is complete, tap Settings from the Navigation bar of
the t:connect mobile app.
⚑ Note: The sensor session cannot be started from the insulin pump.
Tap
CGM and then FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus to continue.
For iOS users, please skip to Step 6. For Android users, tap Settings from the
Home screen of the smartphone, and then tap Connections.Make sure the NFC and contactless payments option is enabled
and then skip to Step 7.
Tap Start scanning (iOS).
Hold the top (iOS) or back (Android) of the smartphone near the
sensor until it vibrates or an alert is heard.
A confirmation screen (above) will appear for iOS users.
The Sensor Session Started screen is displayed. Tap Ok.A
CGM trend graph and sensor startup countdown symbol will appear on the pump
and mobile app.
Flip to back to continue →
The symbol fills in over time to show how much time is left.
⚑ Note: During this one-hour startup period, the pump will not display
sensor data or allow use of Control-IQ technology. Users should continue to
use a blood glucose (BG) meter and test strips in order to make treatment
decisions.Once startup is complete, the new session will
begin.
⚑ Note: If you see a Sensor Not Started alert, contact Abbott support. If
glucose alerts and readings do not match symptoms or expectations, use a BG
meter to make diabetes treatment decisions.
Check Blood Glucose Notification
During the first 12 hours of wear time, when using a FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus
sensor, a user should confirm sensor glucose values with a BG Meter for a
userinitiated bolus.
An icon next to the trend arrow on the pump Home screen and a notification
banner at the top of the t:connect mobile app will display as a reminder until
the 12-hour period is over.
⚑ Note: Use of predicitive technology will be allowed during this 12-hour
period, but sensor values will not automatically populate into the bolus
calculator.
Troubleshooting Tips
When a sensor glucose reading cannot be provided, “- – -” shows in the place
where the sensor glucose value is normally shown.
If the Out of Range icon is on the pump (pictured on the right) or the mobile
app screen, then the sensor is not communicating with the insulin pump.
For ideal connectivity: ✓ It is suggested that the user faces the pump screen
out and away from their body and wears the pump on the same side of the body
that they wear the sensor
✓ Make sure that nothing is rubbing or obstructing the sensor
✓ Please note that wireless communication does not work well through water so
there is a shorter transmission range
⚑ Note: The FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor does not require manual BG
calibration. If you believe your sensor glucose readings are not correct or
are inconsistent with how you feel, perform a BG test to confirm your sensor
glucose readings and treat based on that result. If the problem continues,
consider replacing your sensor. Please contact Abbott customer service for
assistance.
⚑ Note: If sensor glucose readings cannot be provided to the pump, gaps
will appear on the CGM trend graph, however, Control-IQ technology, if
enabled, will continue to operate for 20 minutes.

Pump Tip : Avoid placing an infusion set within one inch of the sensor. The insulin might affect sensor accuracy and blood glucose events could be missed.
* CGM sold separately.
Note: The information on the t:connect mobile app display may not be
identical to the current status of your pump. Wireless uploads from the
t:connect mobile app to the cloud-based t:connect web application require a
compatible phone and an internet or wireless data connection. Uploads to the
t:connect web application do not take place in real time and should not be
relied upon by healthcare providers or caregivers for remote patient
monitoring. Standard carrier data rates may apply.
Important Safety Information: RX ONLY. The t:slim X2 pump and Control-IQ
technology are intended for single patient use. The t:slim X2 pump and
Control-IQ technology are indicated for use with NovoLog or Humalog U-100
insulin. t:slim X2 insulin pump: The t:slim X2 insulin pump with interoperable
technology is intended for the subcutaneous delivery of insulin, at set and
variable rates, for the management of diabetes mellitus in people requiring
insulin. The pump is able to reliably and securely communicate with
compatible, digitally connected devices, including automated insulin dosing
software, to receive, execute, and confirm commands from these devices. The
pump is indicated for use in individuals 6 years of age and greater. Control-
IQ technology: Control-IQ technology is intended for use with a compatible
integrated continuous glucose monitors (iCGM, sold separately) and alternate
controller enabled (ACE ) pumps to automatically increase, decrease, and
suspend delivery of basal insulin based on iCGM readings and predicted glucose
values. It can also deliver correction boluses when the glucose value is
predicted to exceed a predefined threshold. Control-IQ technology is intended
for the management of Type 1 diabetes mellitus in persons 6 years of age and
greater.
WARNING: Control-IQ technology should not be used by anyone under the age
of 6 years old. It should also not be used in patients who require less than
10 units of insulin per day or who weigh less than 55 pounds.
Control-IQ technology is not indicated for use in pregnant women, people on
dialysis, or critically ill patients. Do not use Control-IQ technology if
using hydroxyurea. Users of the t:slim X2 pump and Control-IQ technology must:
use the insulin pump, CGM, and all other system components in accordance with
their respective instructions for use; test blood glucose levels as
recommended by their healthcare provider; demonstrate adequate carb-counting
skills; maintain sufficient diabetes self-care skills; see healthcare
provider(s) regularly; and have adequate vision and/or hearing to recognize
all functions of the pump, including alerts, alarms, and reminders. The t:slim
X2 pump must be removed before MRI, CT, or diathermy treatment. Visit
tandemdiabetes.com/safetyinfo for
additional important safety information. t:connect mobile app: The t:connect
mobile app is intended to be a secondary display for compatible Tandem
Diabetes Care insulin pumps and is capable of wirelessly uploading pump data
it receives into the t:connect web application. The t:connect mobile app is
not intended to control an insulin pump and is not intended to be a
replacement for the information displayed on your insulin pump. Dosing
decisions should not be made based on the secondary display device. The user
should follow instructions on the continuous glucose monitoring system and
insulin pump. This secondary display device is not intended to replace self-
monitoring practices as advised by a physician.
