esker CLASSIC Arctic Fox 10×10 Winter Hot Tent

Installation

  1. Tamp down snow in a tent set up area.

  2. Unroll and unfold tent.

  3. If using stove, remove pipe ring cover.

  4. Locate ground stake-out loops where sidewall meets snowskirt.

  5. Start by staking door front panel loops in a straight line. Stake out rear wall panel loop to form a triangle. Stake out remaining loops to form a pentagonal shape.

  6. Cut a pole to use as the central support. Centre height is approximately 7’6″.

  7. Insert pole into reinforced peak of tent, and ensure placement at the very top of the peak where material is gathered. This is the strongest point of the peak, and is the area designed to support the tent. Cut pole if necessary to adjust so that seam where snowskirt meets the sidewall rests at ground level.

  8. Use standing trees or cut poles to create 5 tie-out points. Ensure that snowskirt is on the outside of the tent.

  9. Tie wall panel corner seam loops to poles or trees.

  10. Secure side wall panel center loops to poles, trees or ground. When affixing to ground, follow slope of sidewall.

  11. Tent setup is complete. Insert stove pipe into stove pipe ring, and set up stove.

How to correct and prevent drooping of the sidewall and wall panels: If the ground stake-out loops extend past the sidewall tie-out loops (resulting in a wall angle greater than go0}, the wall panels will droop inwards. To correct, move the ground stake-out loops inwards, reduce stretch, and create a go0 angle to the sidewall tie-out loops.

  • Two-Way Zippers: Each Arctic Fox tent uses a doube zipper system to allow opening of the zipper from either the top, or the bottom useful for refining airflow in the tent.
  • Best practices include leaving a gap at the bottom of the tent to facilitate airflow up and through the adjustable air vent.

Ventilation control is achieved thorugh use of the adjustable vent. Always have the air vent at least partially open – especially when sleeping to ensure adequate ventialtion. Failure to do so can result in asphyxiation when using a stove in the tent.

Interior tie-out loops are provided for the installation of a drying line. Care should be taken to assure that clothing does not rest againest the stove or stove pipes.

Stove Pipe Ring
Stove pipe ring accommodates up to a 5″ diameter pipe. Do not extend slits. Inserting stove pipes up through the inside of the tent will provide best rain and moisture resistance.

Packing up the tent: With the tent laid out flat, begin by aligning the side wall tie-out loops such that the wall panel seams are folded and stacked.

Folding Sequence

Your Arctic Fox tent will provide many, many years of service provided it is cared for properly. Ensure the tent is dried thoroughly before storing – a wet tent can lead to the growth of mould. Should your tent need cleaning, a soft bristle brush and mild soap and water is best. Allow the tent to dry thoroughly. Care should be taken when operating a stove in the tent. Be sure to read all safety warnings included on the tag in the interior sidewall. If the tent is being left set up for long periods of time (weeks or months), be sure to suspend a tarp over the tent to protect it from UV radiation.
