Installation Guide
Wireless N300 Universal Range Extender
Model: A9
LED
Red
- Solid: The device is starting
- Blinking Slowly: The device is negotiating with a router/AP Detecting signal with auto-extending feature (hasn’t developed yet) Blinking quickly: The device is performing WPS negotiation to a router/AP
Green
Solid: Extended successfully, the WiFi signal is strong
Orange
Solid: Extended successfully, the WiFi signal is poor Blinking: Extended successfully, the WiFi signal is very poor
Button
RST : Use the end of a paper clip or a similar object to press and hold this button for about 8 seconds, and then release it to restore the extender to factory settings.
Press this button and then (within 2 minutes) press WPS button on a router/AP to establish a WPS connection.
Option 1:
Use Web Browser to Extender Your WiFi
1. Plug the extender (A9) into an electrical outlet near your wireless router.
2. Use your computer to search and connect to the extender’s ® Select the WiFi name (SSID) you want to extend, and click WiFi. The default WiFi (SSID: Tenda_XXXXXX) is on the Next. product label on the extender’s back panel.
3. Launch a web browser, type the default login domain name re.tenda.cn or default login IP address 192.168.0.254 into the address bar, and tap Enter on the keyboard.
4. Select the WiFi name (SSID) you want to extend, and click Next
5. Enter the WiFi password of the selected WiFi name (if any), and click Finish.
Tips
If you don’t want to net up the extender’s WiFi name and password to the same as those of the selected WiFi name, uncheck the option before Set up the extenders WiFi name and password to the same as those of the Base Station, customize the extender’s WiFi name and password, and then click Finish.
6. The device is performing extending process. Wait for a moment.
7. Extended successfully.
8. Relocate the extender to other electrical outlet. Observe the LED indicator on the extender to choose an optimum extended location for best WiFi performance.
Poor Signal
Keep moving the extender to outlets closer to the router until the LED indicator on the extender lights solid green.
Tips
- You can also log in to the extender’s web UI to check the WiFi signal strength (40%-79% is the optimum extending location).
- Keep the extender away from Bluetooth devices, microwave, refrigerator, etc. to minimize signal interference.
9. Enjoy your WiFi! The extender’s WiFi name and password are the same as those of your router.
Option 2:
Use WPS Button to Extender Your WiFi
1. Plug the extender (A9) into an electrical outlet near your wireless router (with WPS enabled).
2. Press the WPS button on your router, and then (within 2 minutes) press the on the extender.
3. Relocate the extender to other electrical outlet. Observe the LED indicator on the extender to choose an optimum extended location for best WiFi performance.
Keep moving the extender to outlets closer to the router until the LED indicator on the extender lights solid green.

Q1: I cannot log in to the extender’s User Interface, what should I do?
A1: Before extending
- Use your computer to connect to the WiFi name (SSID) on the label of the extender’s back panel;
- Launch a web browser, type 192.168.0.254 or re.tenda.cn into the address bar and tap Enter on the keyboard.
After extending
- Use your computer to connect to the extended WiFi name (if you customize the WiFi name of the extender, connect that);
- Launch a web browser, type re.tenda.cn into the address bar and tap Enter on the keyboard.
Q2: What should I do if my router has no WPS button?
A2: Folow Option 1: Use Web Browser to Extend Your WiFi to set up the extender.
