IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

- To disconnect the appliance, turn any control to off (if applicable), then remove plug from wall outlet.

- Place the appliance on a flat and heat-resistant surface and use it in a well-ventilated area.

- Do not use metal utensils on the cooking plate, as they will scratch the nonstick coating.
- Do not place anything on top of the appliance when the lid is closed, when in use or when stored.
- Unwind the power cord fully before use.

POLARIZED PLUG
- This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit correctly into the outlet flip it. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature by modifying the plug in any way.
EXTENSION CORD USE
- A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled or tripping over a longer cord.
- The use of an extension cord is not recommended. However, longer extension cords may be used if care is exercised.
- If an extension cord is used,
- The leveled electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
- The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.
ELECTRIC POWER
- If the electrical circuit is overloaded with other appliances, your appliance may not operate properly. It should be operated on a separate electrical circuit from other appliances.
TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW
- Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user serviceable parts inside.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Remove all packing material and stickers from the product and save instruction manual.
Caution: Tear up all plastic bags as they can pose a risk to children. -
Cut and remove tie wrap located between the electric plug blades.

Before using your new appliance, wipe the body of the appliance with a damp cloth.

Condition the non-stick cooking surfaces with a light coating of cooking oil. Remove any excess oil with a cloth or paper towel.
HOW TO USE YOUR AREPA MAKER
When the appliance is operating for the first time, there may be a slight burning odor, as the heating elements warm up. This represents no danger to the user and does not indicate a defect in the appliance. Allow the appliance to heat up until the odor clears.

Prepare the Arepa dough.

Make balls of dough, about 2 to 3 inches in diameter.
Note: Be sure that each ball is not larger than the cavity on each cooking plate.
Caution: Because some countertop finishes are more sensitive than others, use care not to place the appliance on surfaces where heat may cause damage. -
Plug the appliance into a standard 120 Volt AC outlet.

The red-light indicator “POWER” will come on indicating that the unit is heating.
Caution: The temperature of accessible surfaces may be high when the appliance is operating. -
When the red-light indicator turns off, release the locking latch and lift the lid to open position.

Open the unit using an oven mitt to avoid burning by touching the hot surface.

Place the balls of dough onto the bottom cooking plate, making sure it does not overflow onto the cooking plate. You can place up to 2 balls of dough each cooking cycle.

Close the top cooking plate and lock it and let cook for approximately 12 to 15 minutes.

The red-light indicator “POWER” comes on and off during the cooking cycle.
Note: Cooking times vary depending on the size of the Arepa. For an extra toasty finish, place again for another cooking cycle. -
Once cooking cycle is done, carefully remove Arepas with a plastic, wood or nylon spatula.
Note: Do not use metal utensils, as it can damage the non-stick surface. -
Unplug the cord and allow it cool.
CARE AND CLEANING
This product contains no user serviceable parts.
- Unplug the cord and wait for the appliance to cool completely before cleaning.
- After each use, wipe cooking plates with a soft cloth.
- To remove dough baked onto the cooking surface, pour a small amount of cooking oil onto the hardened dough. After 5 minutes, carefully wipe with a paper towel or dry cloth.
- Do not use any abrasive cleaners or metal pads as they can damage the non-stick coating.
- Clean the surfaces by wiping with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
- The appliance is NOT dishwasher safe.
STORAGE AND MAINTENANCE
- Always allow the appliance to completely cool before storing.
- Wind the electrical cord into a coil and secure with a twist fastener.
- Use the locking latch to close unit and store upright or flat in a dry location.
- Other than recommended cleaning, no further user maintenance should be necessary
