Product Usage Instructions
Polarized Plug
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To
reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit into a polarized outlet
only one way. If the plug does not fit correctly into the outlet, flip it. If
it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to
defeat this safety feature by modifying the plug in any way.
Extension Cord Use
- The leveled electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
- The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.
Electric Power
If the electrical circuit is overloaded with other appliances, your
appliance may not operate properly. It should be operated on a separate
electrical circuit from other appliances.
Tamper-Resistant Screw
Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to
prevent removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric
shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user serviceable
parts inside.

What should I do if the plug does not fit correctly into the outlet?

- Do not place anything on top of the appliance when the lid is closed, when in use and when stored.
- Unwind the power cord fully before use.
- Be extremely cautious of steam when opening the lid.
- Do not touch, cover or obstruct the steam valve on the top of the rice cooker as it extremely hot and may cause burns.
- Always make sure the outside of the cooking bowl is dry prior to use. If cooking bowl is returned to cooker when wet, it may damage the appliance or cause the product to malfunction.
- The rice should not be left in the cooking bowl with the keep warm function on for more than 12 hours.
- To prevent damage or deformation, do not use the cooking bowl on a stovetop or burner.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Remove all packing material and stickers from the product and save instruction manual.
Caution: Tear up all plastic bags as they can pose a risk to children. -
Cut and remove tie wrap located between the electric plug blades.

Remove the cooking bowl and lid from rice cooker.
-
Wash cooking bowl, lid, serving spoon and measuring cup with warm sudsy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly before returning to cooker.

Wipe the body with a damp cloth, dry thoroughly.
HOW TO USE YOUR RICE COOKER
When the appliance is operating for the first time, there may be a slight burning odor, as the heating elements warm up. This represents no danger to the user and does not indicate a defect in the appliance. Allow the appliance to heat up until the odor clears.
To Cook Rice:
-
Place appliance on a flat stable surface.
Caution: Because some countertop finishes are more sensitive than others, use care not to place appliance on surfaces where heat may cause damage.
Note: Do not place the rice cooker directly underneath your cabinets or too close to a wall. -
Using the measuring cup provided, measure out the desired amount of rice to make. Use the rice cooking chart provided in this manual as reference.

Place rice in the cooking bowl.
Note: For softer rice, allow rice to soak for 1 O – 20 minutes before cooking. -
Using the measuring cup provided or the water level markings located inside the cooking bowl, add the appropriate amount of water. Refer to the rice cooking chart.
Note: Be careful not to add too much water as it may cause the unit to boil over. -
Add butter, oil and/or seasonings as desired.

Before placing the cooking bowl into the cooker, make sure the heating plate and outside surface of the cooking bowl are clean and dry.
-
Insert cooking bowl into the cooker.
Note: Do not let loose rice or particles fall into the cooker. -
Cover unit with glass lid.
Caution: To avoid loss of steam and longer cooking times, do not open the lid at any point during the cooking process. -
Plug into a standard 120 Volt AC outlet. The orange indicator light comes on (WARM)

Press down the ON switch. The red indicator light (COOK) comes on and cooking begins.
Caution: As the rice expands and cooks, steam comes out through the steam vent on the lid. -
When the rice is ready, the unit will automatically switch to warm mode and the orange light indicator will come on.
Note: Do not press the ON switch again after the keep warm cycle has begun.
Note: Warm mode will keep rice at serving temperature. -
After the switch pops up, leave the lid closed for at least 15 minutes to further steam the rice.
Note: If leaving the rice for longer than 30 minutes, stir occasionally to prevent browning of rice on the bottom of cooking bowl. -
Remove the lid and stir the rice before serving.

Unplug the unit from wall outlet and allow appliance to cool completely.
Caution: The appliance has no ON/OFF button. Make sure you unplug the appliance when not in use.

To Cook Soups and Stews:

Select recipes that will cook in 1 hour or less. Use only meats and poultry that are cut into cubes no larger than 1 ½ inches. It is not necessary to brown the meats before cooking.

Combine meats, vegetables and liquids in the cooking bowl.
- Note: Since most frozen vegetables cook very quickly, it is best to add them at the end of the cooking time. Stir them into the soup or stew and allow the mixture to cook an additional 5 to 1 O minutes.
- Caution: Do not overfill cooking bowl.

Stir with a wooden or plastic spoon until ingredients are blended well.

Before placing the cooking bowl into the cooker, make sure the heating plate and outside surface of the cooking bowl are clean and dry.
Note: Do not let loose food or particles fall into the cooker. -

Set your kitchen timer to the desired cooking time.
Note: The ON switch and red indicator light are not intended to be an indicator of cooking time. Always use a kitchen timer and do not leave these foods unattended. Cooking time will vary depending upon type and amount of food to be cooked. -
For best results, stir several times during the cooking process.

Cover unit with glass lid when stirring is done.
-
When cooking is complete, remove the lid, remove food and serve.
Caution: Do not keep cooked soups or stews in the warm cycle. -
Unplug the unit from wall outlet and allow appliance to cool completely.
Caution: The appliance has no ON/OFF button. Make sure you unplug the appliance when not in use.
GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR RICE COOKER
- To Cook Rice:
- Rinse rice before placing it into the cooking bowl to remove excess bran and starch. This will help reduce browning and sticking to the bottom of the cooking bowl.
- If you have experienced any sticking with the type of rice you are using, try adding a light coating of vegetable oil.
- To Cook Soup or Stew:
- Choose recipes that will cook in 1 hour or less.
- Always use a kitchen timer.
- Use only boneless meats and poultry.
- When cooking rice or pasta in the soup, allow for additional liquid in the recipe.
CARE AND CLEANING
This product contains no user serviceable parts.
- Unplug the unit.
- Allow the appliance to cool completely before cleaning.
- Never rinse the appliance directly under tap water and never immerse it in water or other liquids.
- Do not use any abrasive cleaners or metal pads to clean the appliance will damage the surface.
- Never spray or apply cleaner directly onto or into the appliance.
- Remove the cooking bowl and lid. Wash it in warm sudsy water using a nylon sponge. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Wipe the body of the cooker with a damp cloth.
- Wipe the underside of the cooker and the heating plate with a warm damp cloth. Dry with a soft cloth.
STORAGE AND MAINTENANCE
- Always allow the appliance to completely cool before storing.
- Wind the electrical cord into a coil and secure with a twist fastener.
- Store your appliance in a dry location, such as on a tabletop, countertop, or on a cupboard shelf.
- Other than recommended cleaning, no further user maintenance should be necessary.
