Safety information
- The pump is designed for operation using direct current (DC). Under no circumstances should the pump be connected to the mains power supply with alternating current (AC).
- Do not strike the solar module with the hands, tools or other objects. Damaged solar modules cannot be repaired and must be disposed of in an environmentally-friendly manner.
- Never open the housing of the device or the parts belonging to it if this is not expressly indicated in the instructions for use.
- The pump may not be operated without water, this can lead to irreparable damage.
- This device is suitable for pumping water with a temperature of min. 5°C to max. 40°C.
- The pump is not intended for operation in saltwater or for the delivery of potable water.
- The device is not suitable for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been supervised or received instructions regarding the use of the device by a person responsible for their safety. Children are to be supervised in order to ensure that they do not play with the device.
- If the solar module is set up without a module holder, then adequate stability must be ensured in order to prevent damage to the solar module.
- Store the battery out of the reach of children.
- Keep small parts and packaging materials away from children. Hazard due to risk of suffocation!
- The battery box must not be set up in direct sunshine or in water.
Intended use
This product is designed exclusively for private use in small garden ponds.
Direct solar radiation is required for the operation of the pump. The battery
is charged with solar radiation. If the battery voltage is in a range capable
of operation, then the pump is switched on. During darkness, the pump is
supplied via the battery for up to several hours depending on the charge
level. The output of the pump can be changed via a potentiometer.
The battery is protected by the electronics against deep discharge,
overcharging and short circuit.
Assembly and initial operation
- Completely unroll the connection cable of the pump and battery box.
- Push the riser tubes onto the pump and then attach one of the fountain jets.
- Place the pump into the pond. Avoid a position directly on the base of the pond, as too much dirt will be sucked in by the pump, which will quickly become soiled.
- Assemble the module holder (tubes, union nut and ground spike) and attach this to the rear side of the solar module.
- Connect the plug of the battery box with the solar module and screw the union nut tight. Caution! The plug is protected against polarity reversal, therefore do not apply force when plugging in.
- Now connect the plug of the pump with the “OUTPUT” socket of the battery box.
- Positon the solar module in a sunny, shade-free location.
- Turn the “SYSTEM ON/OFF” switch on the battery box to the “ON” position. The LED of the SYSTEM display illuminates GREEN and the pump begins to operate. Information: The SYSTEM LED display features two colours. If the display illuminates red, then the pump is not operating because the battery has too little residual charge or is being charged for the first time. However, the battery is charged after less than one day with sunshine, after which the pump will begin to operate.
- The pump stops automatically if the charge level of the battery is too low. The LED of the SYSTEM display then ligths up red until the battery is charged again.
- At the end of the charging phase, the SYSTEM display flashes twice red-green every 10 seconds for 30 minutes. Then the display changes to green and the pump begins to run again.
- The pump output can be adjusted using the rotary knob “POTENTIOMETER”.
- Turn the knob to low, after which the pump runs with an operating voltage of 12 V, i.e. with reduced output and longer operating time.
- Turn the knob to high, after which the pump runs with an operating voltage of 24 V, i.e. the pump runs with maximum output and shorter operating time due to the high battery consumption.
- The pump can be operated in constant or interval mode using the “TIMER ON/OFF”.
- TIMER OFF = Constant operation, i.e. the interval mode is deactivated and the pump runs permanently. This mode is only available if the SYSTEM display illuminates green.
- TIMER ON = Interval operation, i.e. the pump runs 10 minutes per hour in regular intervals. This mode is useful in order to save battery capacity.
- During the charging phase of the battery, the CHARGE display lights up yellow, depending on whether the system is switched on or off. The charging procedure is ended automatically when the battery is charged to its maximum charging capacity. Information: The charge of the battery always has priority over the operation of the pump.
- If the system is switched off (SYSTEM OFF), the pump does not operate but the battery is still charged during daylight.
Care and maintenance
Solar module
Deposits of dust, dirt and foliage can collect on the solar module. These can
be removed using a microfibre cloth and glass cleaner.
Solar pump
If the pump output performance reduces or no longer functions after a certain
time, then please clean the pump as follows.
- Disconnect the pump cable from the solar module
- Pull the filter housing from the pump
- Press on the base plate and push this away from the pump
- Open the rotor cover by turning it in an anti-clockwise direction
- Pull the rotor out of the rotor shaft
- Clean and wash the individual parts
- Assemble the pump in reverse order
Caution! Take care with the ceramic shaft during cleaning, as this can be easily broken.
Battery box After one or two years, the capacity of the battery will reduce and must be replaced. A new battery is commercially available.
- Switch off the battery box via the “SYSTEM OFF” switch and disconnect this from the solar module and the pump.
- Unscrew the 6 screws on the underside of the cover of the battery box and remove the cover.
- Undo the cable connections from the battery and replace this with an battery identical in construction.
- Connect both cables to the battery again with the correct polarity, i.e. the terminal of the red or brown cable at the positive pole (+) of the battery and the blue cable at the minus pole (-).
- Close the housing again in the reverse order.
- Connect the battery box with the solar module and the pump again.
- Switch on the battery box again via the “SYSTEM ON” switch.
Protect fountain pump and battery box against frost!
The pump should be taken out of operation during the cold winter months. Clean
the pump using lukewarm water and store the entire system in a frost-free
location. The battery box should be stored in a fully charged state if
possible.
