Product Usage Instructions

Setup

  1. Open the packaging and take out all the components.
  2. Connect the antenna to the antenna socket.
  3. Plug in the power supply to the power outlet and connect it to the (power supply connection).
  4. Turn on the product using the power button.

Basic Operation

  • Use the PLAY/PAUSE button to start or pause CD or USB playback.
  • Press the STOP button to stop CD or USB playback.
  • Use the EQ button to adjust the sound settings.
  • The Transportsicherungsschraube (transport lock screw) should be removed before using the product.
  • For playing vinyl records, remove the protective cover and ensure that the tonearm is free to move and properly positioned on the record.

DAB/UKW (FM) Radio

  • Press the TUNE +/- buttons to select DAB/UKW (FM) radio stations.

CD Playback

  • To start CD playback, press the PLAY/PAUSE button.
  • Use the SKIP UP and SKIP DOWN buttons to skip to the previous or next track.
  • Press the STOP/ENTER button to stop CD playback.
  • Use the PLAY MODE button to select repeat or random playback modes.

USB Playback

  • Connect a USB device to the USB port.
  • The product will automatically start playing from the first track on the USB device.
  • Use the same playback controls as the CD-MP3 mode.

Turntable

  • Remove the needle cover.
  • Ensure that the tonearm is freely movable and properly positioned on the record.
  • Use the Tonabnehmersystem (cartridge system) to play records.
  • To pause playback, move the Tonarmlifthebel (tonearm lift lever) to the upper position.

AUX Input

  • When not in use, remove the cable connected to the AUX IN Buchse (auxiliary input port).

Cassette Playback

  • Press the Kassettenklappe (cassette compartment) to open it.
  • Insert a cassette tape and close the compartment.
  • Press the PLAY button to start cassette playback.
  • Use the fast forward button to skip forward.
  • Press the Auswerfen (eject) button to stop and eject the cassette.

Safety, Environmental and Setup Instructions

  • No objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.

BATTERY INSTALLATION

The battery compartment is located on the back of the remote control.

  1. Remove the battery compartment door by pressing in on the tab and lifting it off.
  2. Insert two (2) AAA size batteries (not included) into the battery compartment following the polarity markings inside the battery compartment.
  3. Replace the battery compartment door.

INSTALLATION AND BASIC OPERATIONS

INSTALLATION

POWER SUPPLY

  • Ensure that the voltage is the same as that indicated on the AC adapter identification plate.
  • Connect the supplied AC/DC adapter to a properly installed safety power socket and to the DC jack on backside.
  • Connect the provided DAB/FM antenna to the antenna socket and align it for best reception.

BASIC OPERATIONS

POWER ON / OFF

  • In Standby, press “ ” to turn on the unit.
  • In on mode, press “ ” to turn the unit in standby. The time and date are shown in the display.

SELECTING MODES

  • Press “MODE” or “FUNCTION” on remote control repeatedly to switch between the modes.

ADJUSTING VOLUME

  • To increase or decrease the volume, rotate “VOLUME” or press “VOL-/+”.

MUTE

  • Press „MUTE“ on the remote control to switch off the volume.
  • Press the button again or change the volume.

SOUND SETTINGS

This unit provides 5 differences sound mode to enhance your listening experience. You can select the desired effect by pressing “EQ / PRESET EQ” repeatedly at following sequence:

  • INFORMATION Press repeatedly “INFO” to announce the available station informations in radio mode.

ERP POWER MANAGEMENT

  • Due to ErP stage two requirements and protect the environment. The unit will switch to standby mode automatically once no any music playing over 15 minutes.
  • For further use switch it on again.
DAB/FM RADIO

DAB RADIO

  1. Switch to DAB radio.
  2. At the first start the unit will automatically start the scan function and search all available stations.
  3. To select a found station, rotate the “TUNER/ENTER” knob and press “ENTER” or use “ “ or “ “ and “ENTER” on the remote control.

If no radio station is found, check the position and connection of the antenna and press “SCAN” to start a full scan again.

FM RADIO

  • Set the unit to “FM” mode. Auto tuning Press “SCAN”, the unit will start to scan and stop at next available station.

Manual tuning

  • Rotating “TUNER/ENTER” to tune by 0.05 MHz steps to the desired station.

Auto memory station

  • Long press “SCAN” button starts complete band scan and storing the found stations to the FM station list.
  • To select a stored station press “FOLDER / MEM PRE “ or “FOLDER / MEM PRE “ on remote control.

FM-Stereo reception

Press “MENU” select “Audio setting” and select “Forced Mono” or “Stereo allowed” with “TUNER/ENTER” to received the FM program in mono and stereo mode repeatedly. When stereo signals are weak, it is preferable to receive the program in Mono. If stereo signal is being received, the stereo indicator “St ” will appear

Preset stations (DAB and FM) (programming on main unit only)

  1. You can store up to total of 20 radio stations in the memory each.
  2. When the radio station is playing, press and hold “PRESET” for about 4 seconds.
  3. The program number empty will display.
  4. Rotate “TUNER/ENTER” to choose the preset number any from 1-20 for storing the desired station.
  5. Press “TUNER/ENTER” to confirm.
  6. Repeat steps 2 to 5 until all desired radio stations are stored.

Recall preset stations

  1. When the desired recall preset stations, press “PRESET” on main unit or “MEM/CLK-ADJ” on remote control
  2. The preset radio stations number will display.
  3. Rotate ”TUNER/ENTER” or press ““ / “ select the required station and press ”ENTER” .
CD
  1. Select “CD” mode.
  2. Press to open the CD tray.
  3. Place a CD with the printed side facing up and then close the CD tray.
  4. The unit reads in the CD and automatically starts with the first track.

PLAY / PAUSE

  • Press “PLAY/PAUSE” or ”” to pause playback, digit will flash on the LCD display.
  • Press again to resume to playback.

STOP

  • Press “STOP” or” ****” to stop playback

SKIP (UP F-F – DN F-R )

  • During play or pause mode, press “UP F-F” or “ ” for next track.
  • During play or pause mode, press “DN F-R” or ” ” for previous track.

For MP3 Disc

  1. After reading the total number of track and album will be shown on the LCD display. The unit will start to plat directly.
  2. Press and hold “FOLDER MEM.PRE ” for short time to select the desired folder Press “FOLDER MEM.PRE ” shortly to change the tracks by +/- 10 tracks.
  3. Press “UP F-F / ” or “DN F-R / ” to select the track number.

MP3 track format requirement:

  • Bit rate: 32 kbps~320kbps, sampling rate: 32khz, 44.1khz and 48 kHz decodable
  • The performance of playing MP3 Disc is various from the quality of recording disc and the method of recording. Furthermore, the searching lead-time for MP3-CD is longer than normal CD due to difference format.

REPEAT / RANDOM MODE

Press repeatedly “P-MODE” or “PLAY MODE” during playback to select repeat and random function, a single track, all the tracks repeat or folder repeat (MP3 only) and random can be played in difference mode as follow:

REMARK

  • When you play a Life CD there may are short breaks between the tracks.

CD PROGRAMMING (remote control only)

Up to 20 tracks can be programmed for disc play in any order. Before use, be sure to be in CD mode stop mode.

  1. Press “MEM/CLK-ADJ” and “P01” will appear on LCD display.
  2. Select a desired track by pressing “UP/F-F “ or “DN/F-R “.
  3. Press “MEM/CLK-ADJ” to store the track into memory.
  4. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to enter additional tracks into the memory if necessary.
  5. When all the desired tracks have been programmed, press “PLAY/PAUSE ” to play the disc in assigned order.
  6. Press “STOP ” to stop playback, press it again to clear all stored memory.

The programming mode will automatically stop if no button is being pressed in a period of about 10 seconds after pressing “MEM/CLK-ADJ”.

USB AND PHONO

USB

Connecting

The system is able to playback all MP3 files which stored in the USB (max 16 GB with FAT32 format) memory.

  1. Set the system to standby mode
  2. Plug-in the USB and make sure it going into completely.
  3. Select USB mode.
  4. The system will start reading the storage media automatically after connecting, and LCD display will show the total number of folder and automatically starts.

The playback procedures are same as playing CD/MP3 disc above.

Remark

  • The system can detect and read the file under MP3 format only at USB mode but no other music file format.
  • If connect the system to MP3 player via the USB socket, due to variances in MP3 encoding format, some MP3 player may not be able to play via the USB socket. This is not a malfunction of the system.
  • USB port does not support connection with USB extension cable and is not designed for communication with computer directly.

Removing of USB

  • To remove the USB storage media, switch the unit off. Then unplug it by pulling out the USB socket directly.

PHONO

  • Remove the stylus protector.
  • Be sure that the tone arm is being detached from the tone arm rest before operating and re-secured again afterwards.

IMPORTANT before use

  • The device has a transport protection! Rotate this with your hand or a piece of money (clockwise to the right) completely for operating.
  • For transport rotate the screw completely out (counter clockwise to the left) again.
  1. Select “PHONO/AUX” mode. (disconnect AUX IN cable)
  2. Set the speed selector to the proper position depending on the record to be played.
  3. Place the record on the platter (use the spindle adaptor if required).
  4. Set the cue lever to the up position.
  5. Lift the tone arm from the rest and slowly move it to the record side. The platter will start to rotate and position the tone arm over the desired position of the record.
  6. Pull down the Tone arm lever. The tone arm will come slowly on the recorder and start playback.
  7. The turntable will stop automatically at the end of the record.
  8. When the record is finished playing, use the tone are lever again to raise the tonearm and then return it the tonearm rest.
  9. To stop manually, lift the tone arm from the record and return it to the rest.

Play suspension

  • Set the tone arm lever to the up position will lift up the tone arm and then stop playback temporarily.

Remark:

  • Some single records which are out of the record standard may cannot played fully played.

AUX-IN

  • Connect another audio device, e.g. (portable) CD player, MP3 player, (portable) cassette player, iPod, etc. with 3.5mm diameter jack plugs (not supplied) to the “AUX IN” jack.
  • Select “PHONO/AUX” mode and start to playback and adjust the volume at your external device
    • Note: If you don’t play “AUX IN! function, please make sure the “AUX IN” jack is not plugged in.
  • Make sure the tone arm is on the tone arm rest, don’t play phono.
CASSETTE AND BLUETOOTH®

CASSETTE

  • Select “TAPE” mode Cassette playback:
    • The system will start the playback automatically after inserting of cassette tape
  • Stop and ejection:
    • Press the “TAPE FORWARD/EJECT” button completely inwards and the cassette tape will be ejected though the cassette door cover. The “TAPE FORWARD/EJECT” button will keeping at lowest height position.
  • Fast forward:
    • Press the “TAPE FORWARD/EJECT” button half inwards during Playback mode, the tape winding forward direction. The “Tape forward/eject” button will keep at middle height position.
    • Slightly press the “TAPE FORWARD/EJECT” button again to resume normal playback. The “TAPE FORWARD/EJECT” button will resume to the highest position.

Remark

  • Make sure the direction is correct when inserting the tape into the system.
  • There is some searching noise can be heard and the system cannot perform normal playback function during fast forward mode.
  • This is recommended to take out the cassette tape from the system every times after listening

BLUETOOTH®

Note: This unit only contains a Bluetooth receiver. It is not possible to connect a Bluetooth Headset or similar it! Make sure the working distance is within 10 meters.

  1. Select “Bluetooth” mode.
  2. The LCD display will flash with Bluetooth icon, it means the BT is in searching mode.
  3. Switch on the Bluetooth feature of your BT device (such as mobile phone) and select “NR565DAB” equipment to connecting.
  4. Once the connecting was finish and connect successfully, the Bluetooth icon will become solid.
  5. Start to playback adjust the volume your BT device and enjoy the music by the main unit.

ENCODING

  • The system is able to encode CD/DAB/Aux/Phono or cassette tape to MP3 file on USB.
  • Plug in the USB pen drive for recording (make sure it has enough empty space).
  • The system will create a music folder name – “ RIP” for CD-DA encode, “REC ”for DAB, Aux, Cassette encode and “FROMCD” for CD-MP3 disc copy and encode bitrate default at 128kbps.

CD encoding (1 track/1 disc at 1x speed)

  1. Perform normal playback of the CD track you want to encode / record.
  2. Press “ REC” the display will show “REC” and “ALL” and then “REC”,“USB” flashing and it will be encoded the whole disc.
  3. Press “ REC” again, the display will show “ONE” and “USB” flashing, encoding the current playing track.
  4. When you press “ REC” while CD playing the actual title will be recorded from beginning.
  5. After completing of recording, unit will stop playback automatically.

Remark

  • The recording speed is 1:1 and according to the actual playing time of the CD track
  • The recording format is preset at – MP3 bit rate: 128 kbps, sampling rate: 44.1kHz
  • After completing of encoding, unit will stop playback automatically

Copy of MP3 file

  • If putting a MP3 disc instead of a CD-disc, the system will copy the files to the USB if press “ REC“.
  • The operation procedures is same as CD encoding as stipulate on above, and the system will switch to copying mode only if MP3 file being read.

DAB encoding

  1. Operate tuner mode refer above listening to radio section to receive the station you would like to encode.
  2. Press “ REC” for start the encoding; “REC” and “USB” icon is flashing.

REMARK: FM encoding is not supported

Cassette/Aux /Phono/BT encoding

  1. Set the unit to your desired mode and then start to playback the track would like to encode.
  2. Then start to playback the track would like to encode, then press “ REC.
  3. The LCD display flash with “REC” and USB” icon. Now the system is starting the encoding mode.

Remark: In all modes press “STOP ” to interrupt the recording mode any time.

Track Separation (on remote control only)

  • You can divide the recording music from tape or Aux/DAB etc. into USB track by track during encoding.
  • Every time when press “ ” (track separation) (on remote control) once during, the system will generate a new track and continuous the recording.

File delete at USB (by remote control)

The system is able to erase the file stored inside the USB pen drive by following:

  1. Insert the media storage and set at “USB” mode.
  2. Stop the playback
  3. Press “DELETE/INFO” and the LCD display will show (DEL-1)
  4. If you want to delete all press “ ” the display will show (DEL -A).
  5. Press the “DELETE/INFO” again to confirm the delete

Remark

  • You can preselect a title with „ ” or “ ” in advance before you press “DELETE/INFO” to delete a specific title.
  • Press “STOP ” once at remote handset to quite delete mode.

SLEEP

  1. Press “SLEEP” button.
  2. Select needed sleep time by repeatedly pressing “SLEEP” for 90 > 75 > 60 > 45 >….15 minutes and sleep icon “ ” will indicate on LCD.
  3. System will stop and go to standby mode automatically after running the selected time.
  4. To cancel the sleep mode, press “SLEEP” and select SLEEP off.

HEADPHONE

  • To listen to music privately, use headphones with a 3.5 mm stereo jack plug and connect it to the headphones socket.
  • The speakers will then be muted. To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume levels for long periods.

LINE OUT

  • You can connect the system to your whole hi-fi system by connecting the line out socket to the auxiliary input socket with an RCA cable (not included).

SYSTEM SETTINGS

Open the system menu during in DAB or FM mode with the “MENU” button.
Select the available options below with rotate “TUNER/ENTER” knob and confirm by press “TUNER/ENTER”.

DAB mode FM mode
Full scan : performs DAB full scan Scan setting: Selection the FM search

threshold for all or only strong stations.
Manual tune : you can choose the DAB channels for scan manuallly| Audio setting: Selects Mono or Stereo mode
DRC (Dynamic range compression)

This function (when available from broadcaster) reduces the difference between the loudest and quietest audio being broadcast. You can choose between off, low and high

  • Language Selection of the available language announcements.
  • Factory reset sets the units back in factory default
  • Software upgrade enable software upgrade function
  • Software version shows the software version

TIME SETUP (manual time /date setting)

  1. Press “TUNER/ENTER”, “Set Time/date” will be shown on the screen.
  2. Press “TUNER/ENTER”, “Set time 00:00” (hour:minute) will be shown on the screen.
  3. Rotate “TUNER/ENTER” and press “TUNER/ENTER” to set and confirm the time.
  4. Rotate “TUNER/ENTER”, “Set date” will be shown on the screen.
  5. Press “TUNER/ENTER” to enter setting date mode, “01-01-2022” will be shown on the screen.
  6. Rotate “TUNER/ENTER” and press “TUNER/ENTER” to set and confirm the day, month and year.
