Product Usage Instructions

  1. Use the round mounting bracket provided.

  2. Position the mounting bracket so that the threaded ends of the attached fixture mounting screws are facing out.

  3. Pull the house wires through the centre hole in the mounting bracket. Align the holes in the mounting bracket with the holes in the junction box, ensuring that the fixture mounting screws are level. Thread each junction box screw into the appropriate slots in
the mounting bracket and into the holes in the junction box. Tighten the junction box screws to secure the mounting bracket to the junction box. Make sure the house wires are pulled completely through the hole in the mounting bracket and not pinched between the bracket and wall.

  4. To remove the cord, loosen the coupling from the bottom of the backplate. Pull approximately eight inches of the cord up into the backplate. Cut off the rest of the cord at the hole in the backplate where it enters. Slide off the strain relief and remove the cut-off portion of the cord.

  5. Screw the finial onto the threaded pipe on the bottom of the backplate.

  6. Split the SPT wires 3 inches (76.2mm) and strip the ends of the wires by 0.50 inch (12.7mm).

  7. Slightly loosen the ground screw on the mounting bracket. Wrap the house ground wire (copper) around the ground screw, leaving enough wire to attach to the fixture ground wire. Twist the end of the fixture ground wire and the house ground wire together. Secure them with a wire nut. Ensure the connection is tight.

  8. Refer to the provided chart for correct wire connections.

PLUG-IN INSTALLATION

  1. Determine the desired location for installing the fixture. Ensure the location is within 7 feet of an electrical outlet.

  2. For plug-in installation use a straight mounting bracket. Hold the mounting bracket so the attached fixture mounting screws (E) are facing outward.

  3. Place mounting bracket (A) against the wall at the desired position. Fixture mounting screws (E) should be on the left and right. Ensure mounting bracket (A) is level. Mark on the wall the location of each slotted hole on the left and right of the centre hole in the mounting bracket (A). Place mounting bracket (A) aside.

  4. Using a drill bit the appropriate size for wall anchor (H), drill holes in the wall at each marked location.

  5. Carefully tap each wall anchor (H) into holes.
IMPORTANT: Supplied wall anchors (H) are for drywall.
If your wall is a different material, use wall anchors suitable for your wall material.
NOTE: Wall anchors are not needed if installing mounting bracket (A) to wall stud.

  6. Place mounting bracket (A) on the wall. Align slotted holes with wall anchors (H). Thread one wall screw (G) into each slotted hole in the mounting bracket (A) and wall anchors (H). Tighten wall screws (G) to secure mounting bracket (A) to the wall.

  7. Place backplate (D) over mounting bracket (A). Pass holes in the backplate (D) over the ends of fixture mounting screws (E).

  8. Screw one threaded cap (F) onto each fixture mounting screw (E). Tighten threaded caps (F) to secure the fixture to the wall.elk-HOME-52360-1-Transitional-Wall-Sconce-FIG-3

  9. Screw stem (K) onto the bottom of the arm on the backplate (D).

  10. Screw recommended bulb (E26 Edison bulb type, not included) into the socket. Verify the correct bulb wattage marked on the socket of the fixture. WARNING: DO NOT exceed maximum bulb wattage.

  11. Insert the plug into an electrical outlet. The on/off switch is located on the backplate (D).

  12. To adjust the position of the shade: Carefully push the shade up or down into the desired position.

  13. To adjust the position of the arm: Loosen the key at the bottom and/or middle of the arm. Adjust the arm to the desired position. Tighten the keys to secure the arm in place. DO NOT over-tighten.

HARDWIRE INSTALLATION

  1. Use a round mounting bracket. Position mounting bracket (A) so threaded ends of attached fixture mounting screws (E) are facing out.

  2. Carefully pull house wires through the centre hole in the mounting bracket (A). Align holes in mounting bracket (A) with holes in the junction box. Make sure fixture mounting screws (E) are level.

  3. Thread each junction box screw (B) into appropriate slots in mounting brackets (A) and into holes in the junction box. Tighten junction box screws (B) to secure mounting bracket (A) to the junction box. CAUTION: Make sure house wires are pulled completely through the hole in the mounting bracket. DO NOT pinch wires between the mounting bracket and wall.
    To remove cord

  4. Loosen coupling (L) from the bottom of the backplate (D). In backplate (D), pull approximately eight inches of the cord up into the backplate (D). At the hole in backplate (D) where the cord enters the backplate (D), cut off the rest of the cord. Slide the strain relief (N) of the cord. Remove the cut-off portion of the cord.

  5. Screw the finial (P) onto the threaded pipe on the bottom of the backplate (D).

  6. Split the SPT wires 3 inches (76.2mm) and strip the ends of the wires .50 inch (12.7mm).

  7. Slightly loosen the ground screw on the mounting bracket (A). Do not completely remove the ground screw. Wrap house ground wire (copper) around the ground screw, leaving enough ground wire to attach to fixture ground wire. Twist the end of the fixture ground wire and the end of the house ground wire (copper) together. Twist wire nut (C) onto the ends of the wires. Completely tighten wire nut (C).
