Installation notes

Installation requirements

  • Risk of injury or damage to property due to improper installation.
  • Incorrect installation of the tumble dryer can lead to personal injury or damage to property.
  • The tumble dryer must only be installed and commissioned by the Miele Customer Service Department or an authorized dealer.
  • The tumble dryer must be installed under all relevant regulations and standards.
  • The dryer must only be operated in a room that has sufficient ventilation and which is frost-free.
  • The tumble dryer must not be installed behind a closed door or a sliding door. The maximum opening angle of the tumble dryer door must not be limited by objects or doors.
  • It must be possible to fully open the tumble dryer door at any time.

Electrical connection

  • The electrical connection must be established by a qualified electrician.
  • The electrical connection may only be made to an electrical system provided under all appropriate local and national legislation, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Please also observe the regulations set out by your insurance provider and energy supplier, accident prevention regulations, as well as recognized codes of practice.
  • The reliable and safe operation of this tumble dryer is only ensured if it has been connected to the mains electricity supply.
  • The required supply voltage, power rating, and fuse rating can be found on the data plate on the tumble dryer. Ensure that the supply voltage matches the voltage quoted on the data plate before establishing the electrical connection to the tumble dryer.
  • Connection to a supply voltage other than the one quoted on the data plate can damage the tumble dryer if the voltage is too high.
  • If more than one voltage is specified on the data plate, the tumble dryer can be converted for connection to the relevant input voltage.
  • This conversion must be performed by the Miele Customer Service Department or by an authorized dealer. During the conversion, the wiring instructions given on the wiring diagram must be followed.
  • The tumble dryer can either be connected with a suitable plug-and-socket under IEC 60309-1 or where necessary a hard-wired connection.
  • For a hard-wired connection, an all-pole isolation device must be available at the installation site.
  • An isolation device is a switch that ensures a contact opening of more than 3 mm. These include circuit breakers, fuses, and contractors (IEC/EN 60947).
  • If the mains supply cannot be permanently disconnected, the isolation device (including plug and socket) must be safeguarded against being switched on either unintentionally or without authorization.
  • Tip: We recommend connecting the tumble dryer to the power supply via a plug and socket so that it is easier to conduct electrical safety checks (e.g. during maintenance or repair work).
  • The tumble dryer must not be connected to devices such as timers which would switch it off automatically.
  • If local regulations require that a residual current device (RCD) is installed, a type B residual current device (sensitive to universal current) must be used.
  • If local and national installation specifications require equipotential bonding, good galvanic contact must be guaranteed. Equipotential bonding must have an earth current rating > 10 mA.

Hot water connection

  • An on-site circulation system with feed and return lines is required to supply the tumble dryer with hot water as an energy source.
  • For sufficient protection against corrosion, the tumble dryer must only be operated with heating water in compliance with VDI 2035.
  • A detailed pipework calculation and hydraulic alignment of the overall system are recommended to ensure adequate heat supply at the appliance.
  • This applies in particular when connecting multiple appliances to the same heating circuit.
  • An external circulation pump needs to be installed in the heating cir-cuit on site to ensure a sufficient supply of hot water.
  • The circulation pump must be selected based on the technical specifications of the tumble dryer and those of the on-site pipework.
  • Flexible hose connections that are resistant to pressure and temperature are recommended for the connection of the hot water supply.
  • The cross-section of the free internal diameter of the connection hoses must be at least 18 mm so that the flow rate throughout the heating circuit can be maintained at a sufficient level. If it is not, the program running time of the drying process is likely to be affected.
  • A suitable control valve must be fitted in the feed line to control the incoming flow of hot water. This valve is controlled directly via the tumble dryer controls.
  • The control valve must be fitted in the direct vicinity of the appliance connection.
  • An installation kit to assist with connecting the hot water supply to the tumble dryer is available to purchase as an optional Miele accessory.
  • We recommend that shut-off valves are fitted on-site at the feed line and return line connection points.
  • Depending on cable routing requirements, the customer might need to provide additional ventilation at the connection point on site.

Air intake/exhaust air

  • The tumble dryer may only be operated when the ducting has been connected properly and the room is sufficiently ventilated.
  • Accessory parts may only be fitted when expressly approved by Miele. If other parts are used, warranty, performance, and product liability claims will be invalidated.
