Step 1: Throttle Cable Installation
- Remove the ball stud from the ball joint (item 1) and fasten it to the throttle lever.
- Thread the body of the ball joint (item 1) onto the throttle cable.
- Attach the bracket (item 2) to the cable and locate it in the appropriate position on the engine.
- Adjust the ball joint on the cable end so that the throttle stop rests lightly, not tightly, against the idle adjustment screw.
Step 2: Shift Cable Installation
- Remove the ball stud from the ball joint (item 1) and fasten it to the shift lever.
- Thread the body of the ball joint (item 1) onto the shift cable.
- Attach the bracket (item 2) to the cable and mount it on the transmission.
- Adjust the ball joint on the cable end so that the neutral detent in the shift lever is in exact synchronization with the neutral detent in the control unit.
Step 3: Throttle and Shift Cable Check
- Ensure that both throttle and shift cables are attached to the control unit as described in the instructions for the control unit.
- Check the throttle linkage and shift linkage to ensure that they move freely.
- Set the engine idle to run smoothly between 600 and 800 rpm.
- Set the shift handle in the neutral position and the throttle handle in the closed position.
