Settings (3L-100B, 3L-150-P only)
Immediately after all connections have been made, the system starts up and
the display shows several screens for set-ting the system parameters.
Main Menu (3L-100B, 3L-150-P only)
The main menu provides the following options:
- Display On/Off button: Tap any part of the display to turn it on if it’s off.
- Starter battery icon: Displays starter battery voltage.
- House battery menu: Provides information about the state of charge (SOC) of the house battery (Note: SOC indication may be inaccurate after installation and becomes operational after the first complete charging of the house battery).
After the settings are confirmed, the main menu appears on the display.
Display item | Function |
---|---|
1 | Display On/Off button. When the display is off, tap any part of it to |
turn it on.
2| Setting menu
3| Starter battery icon. It displays starter battery voltage.
4| House battery menu
Note The state of charge (SOC) indication is inaccurate following the installation. It becomes operational after the first complete charging of the house battery.
House battery menu (3L-100B, 3L-150-P only)
Display item | Function |
---|---|
1 | Battery voltage, in Volts |
2 | Battery current, in Amperes |
3 | State of charge (SOC), in percentage |
4 | Graphic display of state of charge (SOC) |
5 | Charging status |
6 | Setting menu |
7 | Starter battery menu |
8 | “Close” button |
The negative current value means that the battery is discharging and a positive value indicates that the battery is charging. In the latter case, the thunderbolt symbol is displayed on the battery icon.
- To keep V and I values displayed, tap the “Setting” icon and check the phrase “Always show V and I”.
Charging status icon | Description |
---|---|
Charging from a source other than the alternator (solar panels, chargers). |
| (Grey)
Alternator not charging the battery.
| (Red) Alternator is charging the battery.
---|---
Note: In order to keep the battery from discharging, the display dims after 2 min. After 15 min, it will turn off. To turn the display back on and resume normal use, tap on it.
General protection
The control unit protects the house battery against excessive discharging and
overloads. However, it is recommend-ed that the house battery voltage does not
fall below 10.5 V and does not exceed 15 V. If the house battery voltage falls
below 11.5 V, charge the battery immediately.
Protection alarms (3L-100B, 3L-150-P only)
If the display shows the 0 V value for the house battery, it is probable that
the internal battery management system (BMS) intervened to avoid the excessive
discharge.
The control unit will allow a deeper discharge than the internal battery management system (BMS) of the house battery:
Discharge current at 20 °C | Maximum discharge time |
---|---|
3L-100B | 3L-150-P |
100 A | 55 min |
125 A | 25 min |
150 A | 5 min |
175 A | 2 min |
200 A | 30 s |
When the battery is discharged the internal battery management system (BMS) triggers an alarm.
There are two ways to resolve the issue:
- Connect an external battery charger.
- Press the green icon inside the house battery icon . The control unit will connect the battery to the vehicle alternator shortly.
The control unit has an internal sensor that constantly monitors the ambient temperature.
When the ambient temperature is outside the 0 °C … 45 °C range, the system triggers an alarm:
The alarm disappears when the ambient temperature returns to the normal range.
Charging
When charging the battery with an external charger, the following guidelines should be observed:
- It is recommended to use chargers intended for charging lithium (LiFePO4) batteries. Other type of charger will reduce battery life.
- The charger must not perform any desulfation action.
- When using a configurable charger, set the constant current/constant voltage (CC/CV) option with the follow-ing values:
- Set the end of charge voltage to 14.4 V.
- Set the recommended maximum charging current for the battery.
- The maximum charging voltage should not exceed 14.5 V.
When the battery is charged by the alternator, the process is automatically managed by the control unit.
Storing
- Before storing fully charge the battery with a recommended battery charger for 1 – 2 days.
- When the battery is not in use, ensure that the battery voltage does not drop below 12.8 V.
- When storing the battery for a longer time completely recharge it every 30 days to prevent deep discharge and to ensure it is always ready for use.
Disposal
- Recycling packaging material: Place the packaging material in the appropriate recycling waste bins wher-ever possible.
- Recycling products with batteries, rechargeable batteries and light sources: Remove any batteries, rechargeable batteries, and light sources before recycling the product.
