  3. Turn on the unit using the power switch.

Operation

To use the unit appropriately and efficiently, we recommend the user familiarize themselves with the ultraviolet security features of the bills or documents they want to analyze. In doing so, the ultraviolet security features will be highlighted and easily recognizable by the user(s). The UV reaction may differ depending on the side being analyzed (for bills or documents that have UV security features visible from both sides). For this reason, we recommend analyzing both sides of the bill or document. Place the banknote or document in the verification area, try to activate the automatic sensor with the banknote itself while positioning it. The detector has an internal timer that turns off the light a few seconds after the bill is removed. It also has a protection mode that will deactivate the UV light if the lamp is in continuous use for more than 3 minutes. If you need more time to continue examining the banknote, simply remove the banknote from the activation sensor and reposition it to activate the light again.

NOTE: The detector includes a “Security Thread Identification” label that shows the operator the COLOR and POSITION of the security thread embedded on the U.S. dollar bill for every specific denomination. Use the following image as a reference. Please keep in mind that, for the operator to validate the bill, the security thread must match with the approximate position and color shown on the “Security Thread Identification” label.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Do not use the unit near strong natural or artificial light sources, as this will minimize the desired effect of the ultraviolet light.
  • Do not use the unit where it may be exposed to water or other liquids.
  • Dust may collect near the UV detector, in which case it is recommended to clean it with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
  • Do not use the unit if it or any of its parts have a problem, as this could cause accidents.
  • When not using the unit for a long time, remove the power plug from the electric outlet.
