4G LTE Routers FAQs
What should I do if my 4G router cannot access the Internet?
The working principle of the Tenda 4G router is the same as that of a mobile
phone. It requires inserting the operator’s SIM card, plug and play. However,
because the product is quite special, there are many reasons why you cannot
access the Internet, such as: (1) The SIM card is not recognized; (2) Your SIM
card is in arrears; (3) Your SIM card is locked and needs to be unlocked; (4)
) The operator’s APN information corresponding to the SIM card is not
recognized, or is recognized incorrectly; (5) The operator’s base station does
not cover your area; (6) The frequency band currently covered by the operator
is not supported by the Tenda 4G router; Based on the above issues, we have
made the following guidance to help you solve the problem. First, you need to
log in to the WEB page of the router to check some information.
Note:

Log in the web interface
The web-based management page is a built-in internal web server that does
not require internet access. It does however require your device to be
connected to the Tenda 4G LTE router. This connection can be wired or
wireless.
Note:
Low version of your web browser may cause compatibility problems with the web-
based interface (management page) of your device, such as unable to log into
the interface, display incomplete features, etc. It is strongly recommended to
use a wired connection if you are going to change the router’s wireless
settings or upgrade the firmware version of the router.

How to get APN information
What is APN? APN is a key field for us to use the SIM card for online
authentication. In some cases, in order to quickly solve the APN compatibility
problem, we need to check the APN information used when the SIM card is
successfully registered on the mobile phone.
If you have an Apple phone and cannot obtain the APN information, please change to an Android phone to check, or contact the local operator to obtain the correct APN information (APN, username, password, authentication type, APN type, APN support agreement)
For Android Phones
- Step 1: Open the mobile phone setting tool and enter the APN field query
- Step 2: Click Access Point Names to view APN information
- Step 3: Obtain APN, username, password, authentication type, APN type, and APN support protocol
Note:
The query methods may be different for different Android phone types. You can
check the operation guide for your phone model online to obtain APN
information.
How to check band working on 4G03 Pro device and mobile phone?
In some cases, we might need to check which band our phone is working on for
troubleshooting purposes. For example, if your Tenda 4G devices has no service
at all after you insert a working SIM card in it, but the same SIM card works
fine on your smartphone at the same location, we could check which band works
on the phone, then check if the LTE router supports that band to see if it is
a compatibility issue.
How to check the band working on smartphones?
For Android Phones
Android phones usually do not display band information. We need to install
some third-party applications to obtain this information, such as the
Cellular-Z application. To download this tool, you only need to go to the
corresponding Google store or mobile app store to download it.
For iPhones
To find out what band(s) your iPhone is using, please follow the steps below:
-
Launch the Phone app from your Home Screen.
-
Dial 3001#12345# and then tap on the green Call button.
Note: This will not place a phone call, but it will open the iPhone’s hidden Field Test Mode. -
While in the Field Test Mode, please look for Band Info under Serving Cell Info, which is the cellular band you are currently using:
Note: The page might look slightly different for different iOS versions.
To obtain the frequency band in which the 4G03 Pro device works, please first log in to the WEB page according to FAQ1. After successful login, please click on the device.
Why is the speed measured using a 4G03 Pro device lower than that of a
mobile phone?
At present, the development of cellular networks is getting faster and faster,
and the bandwidth supported is also getting larger and larger. There are three
differences between mobile phone speed measurement and device speed
measurement:
- The mobile phone has registered a 5G signal. You can check whether the signal position in the upper right corner of the mobile phone displays a 5G or 4G icon. If a 5G icon is displayed, the speed test of the 5G network will be better than that of the 4G network.
- The CAT capability set supported by the mobile phone is much higher than that of the 4G03Pro (CAT4) device itself: the LTE carrier aggregation supported by the base station is also supported by the mobile phone. In this case, the bandwidth of the mobile phone network is higher than that of the 4G03 Pro device, so the speed test result will also be better than that of the device. How to determine whether the carrier aggregation function is generated during the current mobile phone speed test? Please look at the icon position in the upper right corner of the mobile phone. If it shows 4G+, it means that the mobile phone’s network has carrier aggregation, and the performance will be better.
- Differences in cellular network environments lead to deviations in speed measurement results: Many factors affect the speed measurement of cellular devices in real network environments, such as the load of the base station may change at different times, and the frequency band registered by the device to the base station is different. The received signal strength (RSRP) of the base station, the signal interference value (SINR), and the bandwidth arranged by the operator. In order to confirm that we can help you, it is recommended that the speed measurement cards of your mobile phone and device be consistent and that the time interval between speed measurements is not large. . Based on the second point, we need to obtain some information to support our analysis of your environment. Please follow the steps below. I hope it can help you.
- First of all, we need to confirm the information of our device registration network. You can log in to the web to view the registration information. Click the network icon and it will jump to the following network status information:
- Insert the same SIM card into the mobile phone, check the registered band information through the mobile phone, and check the registered band information through the mobile phone, please check FAQ8
- If the registered band display is the same and the speed test results of the same card are different, please contact us.
If the above comparison test still cannot solve your problem, please contact us at support.fwa@tenda.cn.
