  • The major part of this manual concerns both appliances. If this is not the case, it is indicated (with the type numbers).

BEFORE USE

First read the entire manual and retain it for future reference. Make sure that the mains voltage in your household corresponds with that of the appliance (220-240 volts). Only connect this appliance to an earthed socket. Remove any stickers and clean all parts before use (except the electrical part) in soapy water and rinse them well.

SAFETY (FOR ALL PRODUCTS)

Please read the following advice

  • This appliance is only intended for domestic use.
  • Never turn on the appliance before filling it with oil or fat.
  • Never immerse the appliance in water.
  • Always remove the plug from the electrical socket before cleaning.
  • Never move the appliance during use. The oil or fat becomes hot and you could burn yourself. Wait to move the appliance until it has cooled off.
  • Never leave the appliance unattended. Pay attention when it is in use near children. The appliance and the various parts become very hot; always pick up the pan by the handles.
  • Always place the appliance on a sturdy surface and keep flammable materials away from it.
  • Ensure that the appliance is far from the edge of the table or working surface so that it can’t be knocked over; also make sure that the cord does not hang in such a way that someone could trip over it or become entangled.
  • Keep the appliance away from a hotplate that is switched on.
  • Keep the appliance away from water when in use and when the oil or fat is still hot. Water spatters when in hot oil, so first dry the food with a paper towel and shake off as much of the frosty bits as you can.
  • After use, immediately remove the plug from the electrical socket.

PRINCESS TIPS

  • Do not use the appliance if it is damaged; send it to our service department.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to prevent a hazard.
  • The appliance is equipped with a thermal fuse. If the thermostat malfunctions and the appliance could get overheated, the electric current is automatically interrupted. Your appliance should then be returned to our service department.

DEEP-FRYER 182611 AND 182612 APPLIANCE USE

  • To open the lid, push in the button next to the temperature dial.
  • Before first use, clean the appliance thoroughly with hot water and a bit of detergent. Make sure that the electrical part does not get wet.
  • Rinse with clean water and thoroughly dry the appliance.
  • Fill the appliance with fat or vegetable oil. If you use hard blocks of fat, first cut them in pieces and set the temperature dial at 90º C until the fat has completely melted.
  • The oil level should always be between the lowest (min) and the highest (max) level indicator, +/- 1 L.
  • Adjust the thermostat button to the desired temperature. Consult the table with temperatures on front side of deep fryer.
  • The light turns off when the desired temperature is reached.
  • When the light turns off, first dip the empty basket in the oil. This keeps the food from sticking.
  • Put the food you wish to deep-fry in the basket. For best results, put the food in dry.
  • Use the detachable handle to place the basket in the deep fryer. Then remove the grip from the basket.

IMPORTANT: make sure that the handle is properly attached to the basket so that it will not fall off when shaking up the chips (or other foods).

  • Slowly immerse the basket to prevent bubbling.
  • Lift the basket up again when the deep-frying is done and hang it on the hook in the pan so the oil can drip out.
  • Remove the plug from the electrical socket.
  • Rinse the handle and the grip after use and dry thoroughly.
  • When the deep fryer has entirely cooled off, you can remove the basket and store the appliance. Store it with the lid on in a dark and dry place. You can leave the basket and oil in the deep fryer.

DEEP-FRYING TIPS 182611 AND 182612

  • For better results, use the recommended oil or fat. It is strongly discouraged to use different types of oil or fat at the same time.
  • Regularly replace the oil or fat, and especially if it gets dark or dirty, or if it starts frothing abnormally. Clean the tub each time before you replace the oil or fat.
  • Any heating for a long period of time lessens the quality of the oil or fat. Turn the deep fryer off after every use.
  • To obtain the best results, do not fry large amounts of food all at once.
  • Use at the most 300 grams of chips per litre of oil.
  • Use a maximum of 200 grams of deep-frozen foods due to the rapid cooling. Shake off deep frozen products over the sink to remove ice remains.
  • When using chips from fresh potatoes: dry the chips after washing so that no water will be in the oil.
  • Fry the chips in 2 turns. First frying turn (pre-frying): 5 – 10 minutes at 170º C. Second frying turn: 4 minutes at 190º C. Allow to drip well before serving.
  • Don’t fry too much food at once. Only cover the bottom of the basket, so the temperature of the oil doesn’t drop; this would cause the food to absorb more oil.
  • Keep to the prescribed deep-frying time.
  • Do not add salt to the food before or during deep-frying; do so only when the basket has been removed from the fryer. Salt and water spoil the oil.
  • Let the food drip well and pat it with paper towels so that excess fat is removed.
  • Eat the food immediately after deep-frying. Food that should be kept warm should not be placed in a covered dish. After a while it will lose its crispiness due to the condensation. It is better to keep it in the oven.

  • Clean the appliance thoroughly before first use with hot water and a bit of dishwashing liquid. Make sure that the electric part does not come into contact with water.
  • Rinse with clean water and dry the appliance carefully.
  • Always use oil that is suitable for high temperatures and replace it after each preparation.
  • The oil level must always be between the lowest (min) and highest (max) level indication, +/- 1L.

  • Remove the lid from a vertical 90º position.
  • Place the fondue ring on the fondue pan in order to prevent oil spatters.
  • Place the fondue pan in the middle of the table.
  • For the sake of safety, attach the lead to the table. Do not forget to loosen the lead before moving the fondue pan.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE 182611 AND 182612

  • Remove the plug from the outlet.
  • Never immerse the appliance in water!

Cleaning the outside

  • Regularly clean the outside of the appliance with a moist cloth and dry with a soft clean cloth.

Cleaning the inside

When replacing the oil, bouillon, cheese or chocolate, you can also clean the inside of the appliance. Empty the pan and first clean the inside with paper towel and then with a wet cloth dipped in soap. Now rinse the inside well with clean water so that all soap remains are gone and allow to dry well.

Cleaning tip: put a cup of water and dishwashing liquid in the pan. Switch on the appliance on the lowest setting and allow it to stand for about 10 minutes. Then switch off and rinse well.

REPLACING OIL

For fondue, we recommend that you replace the oil each time. Frying oil can be used several times. For good frying and fondue oil, the amount of time you can use the oil depends on:

  • How often the pan is used.
  • How long the pan is used.
  • The temperature during use
  • The amount of the food (with too large quantities, the oil cools off too quickly).
  • The characteristics of the food (e.g. herbs used).
  • The cleaning of the oil during and after deep-frying and fondueing. While deep-frying and fondueing, remove bits of food and remaining dough or breading that has fallen into the oil. After deep-frying, we recommend that you filter the oil. Do so as follows:
    • Allow the oil to cool off.
    • Allow the basket to drip, and remove it from the pan.
    • Place some paper towels in the basket.
    • Filter the oil through the basket into a container of the same size.
