Storage and maintenance
The PPE is protected packed in a cardboard box. Store in a well-ventilated, dry area. Avoid extreme temperatures, contact with liquid or UV radiation (e.g. window). (For Maintenance look at clauses “warnings”, “disposal” and “repair”).

Explanation of the pictogram and protection classes (see above figure) The chainsaw pictogram according to ISO 7000 indicates that the product provides cut resistance against handheld chain saws. (Performance levels:

protection class 1, 2 or 3, class 3 offers a higher protection than class 2, class 2 a higher protection than class 1).
The protection pictogram indicates that this protective clothing fulfils the requirements of class 1.
The date of manufacture is marked on the label with the factory symbol and specified in the format mm/yyyy:

Cleaning instruction

According to the care symbols on the label this product shall be cleaned as follows: 60° regular wash, iron with moderate temperature (1 – or 2 – point), do not chlorinate, do not tumble dry, do not dry clean. (look at picture above). In order to preserve the safety properties the safety clothing shall not be spin dried with more than 700 rpm after washing, pull the wet product in the form and then dry on a line. Wash before first use. Weekly cleaning is recommended for daily use and average pollution. Wash hard polluted trousers immediately after application.
Resin-, oil-, and fuel-residues can have a detrimental effect to the protective properties. We recommend commercial laundry detergent for washing. Too high temperature or spin-drying speed reduce the protective property and the comfort (shrinkage).

Inspection by the user
Inspect for damage before every use, especially the cut protection.
Instructions for donning and doffing, or check the correct fit
Donning and duffing as regular clothes ensure the correct fit.
For article 575780 (chaps) adjustments your morphology will be made as follows:
Put the belt around your waist leaving the protective part at the front, close the buckle and adjust the belt length with the fastener. Close the leg buckles and tighten the fasteners to the correct tension so that they wrap the back of your legs and are not too loose. Make sure the chaps are properly adjusted and they do not twist sideways while working or walking. Chaps are better suited for occasional use or use in warm environments.
Limit for use
Due to the fabric composition protective clothing may not come in contact with fire or hot or glowing objects. At high outside air temperatures is a strain of the cardio-vascular system through the thermal insulation, caused by to the protective insert.

Limit of safety

The degree of protective properties depends on many factors (such as work technique, power and rotational speed of the chainsaw, sharpness of the chain, speed of the chain, angle and force when the PPE comes into contact with the chainsaw, etc.). A chain speed of 20 m/s for the examination in the laboratory does not necessarily corresponds to a hand-held chainsaw operated at 20 m/s.
This PPE is no substitute for a safe working technique. Improper use of the chainsaw can lead to accidents. Take care of the safety regulations of the competent authorities or accident insurances as well as the safety instructions of the used chainsaw. The leg protector can, when used with some modified chains, or chains not designed for forestry use (e.g. some rescue chains), not protect adequately against cuts. In case of doubt contact the manufacturer of the saw chain for further information.

Details of components, which must be used in addition to ensure the intended protection
Ensure that the leg protector overlaps the shaft of cut resistant boots sufficiently.
Information about materials, which can cause allergic or other reactions
No harmful effects of the materials used in the product are known.
Criteria for aging and obsolescence date
Protective clothes with damaged or modified cut protective insert may no longer be used! Clothing that are damaged or modified in any way, must be disposed immediately.
Cut protective products and materials are subject to a certain ageing. For example, a maximum lifetime of about 12 (up to max. 18) months may be calculated for the professional work in forestry. In the non-professional operations (occasional use), a lifetime can be assumed up to max. 12 years. It mainly depends from the type of use, the extend of stress, but also of other criteria (such as regular maintenance, repair, appropriate storage). The maximum duration of use should correspond to nearly 25 wearing cycles, each finished with a washing. For rare cleaning cycles less wearing cycles are to be assumed. Basically, the product shall be checked before each use for technical actuality, damages or other modifications and be replaced if indicated with a new one.
Accessories and characteristics of appropriate spare parts
Fasteners of braces, buttons and zippers can be replaced if damaged by commercially available spares of equal property and size. Repair outer fabric, braces, fasteners or zippers are available on request from the manufacturer resp. are sometimes attached directly to the product.
