The declared degree of protection of the camera relates to its housing and does not take into account the possibility of moisture infiltration into the camera by connection cables. Connection cables protection through i.e. sealing up is the camera installer’s duty. The manufacturer is not liable for any camera damages caused as a result of the failing in performing that activity by the installer, which also means that camera damaged in that way is not subject to warranty repairs.
CAUTION!
The camera power supply connector is not hermetic. The installer should seal
this connector by himself.
Connecting power supply cable
The camera can be supplied using an external power supply unit corresponding
with the camera parameters or by using an RJ45 network socket and PoE power
supply unit. To power the camera via PoE, use a network switch or PoE adapter
compatible with the IEEE 802.3af standard. If you’re using an external power
supply please connect wires according to the polarisation shown in the picture
below. The power supply adapter is not included.
CAUTION!
Do not use power supplies and POE adapters not compatible with IEEE 802.3af
standards! Damage resulting from the use of an improper power supply is not
covered under warranty. In order to provide protection against voltage
surges/lightning strikes, the usage of appropriate surge protectors is
advised. Any damages resulting from surges are not eligible for service
repairs.
Camera mounting
To mount a camera please follow the instructions below:
- Unscrew the camera cover (5) by turning counter-clockwise.
- Remove the camera housing (4).

IP Camera.
CAUTION!
In order to obtain a declared degree of protection please seal the camera
bracket to prevent water from getting inside. Furthermore, when installing the
bracket on rough/uneven surfaces, please additionally seal the junction with
the appropriate sealing mass. Please pay special attention to any mounting
holes and if they are loop-through ones, seal them too.
Starting the camera
To run the camera you have to connect an ethernet cable between the camera
RJ45 socket and network switch PoE compatible with IEEE 802.3af standard. To
power it up you can also connect it directly via a power supply adapter with
parameters compatible with the camera power supply specification.
The recommended way to start an IP camera and perform its configuration is a connection directly to the network switch which is not connected to other devices. If the camera is powered by an external power supply, use any switch or twisted-pair cable connected directly to your computer. To obtain further information about network configuration parameters (IP address, gateway, network mask, etc.) please contact your network administrator.
The following pages of this manual show 3 recommended connection schemes for the camera:
- Connection using the PoE network switch.
- Connection using an external power supply to the camera and network switch.
- Connection using an external power supply to the camera and Ethernet cable.
Connection using the PoE network switch
Connection using external power supply to the camera and network switch
Connection using an external power supply to the camera and Ethernet cable
Initial configuration via the web browser
The network configuration of the camera can be carried out using a web
browser.
The default network settings for 6000 series IP cameras are:
- IP address: 192.168.1.200
- Network mask: 255.255.255.0
- Gateway: 192.168.1.1
- User name: root
- Password: pass
Knowing the camera’s IP address you need to appropriately set the PC IP address, so the two devices can operate in one network subnet ( e.g. for IP 192.168.1.200, the appropriate address for the camera ranges from 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.254, for example, 192.168.1.60).
It is not allowed to set the same addresses for the camera and PC
computer
Users can either set a network configuration (IP address, gateway, netmask,
etc.) of the NOVUS IP camera themselves or select DHCP mode (DHCP server is
required in this method in the target network) by using a web browser or by
NMS software.
When using a DHCP server checks the IP address lease and its linking with the camera MAC address to avoid changing or losing IP address during device operation or network/DHCP server breakdown. Remember to use a new camera IP address after changing network parameters. After the network setting configuration has been done, the camera can be connected to a target network.
Security recommendations for network architecture and configuration
CAUTION!
Below are shown security recommendations for network architecture and
configuration of CCTV systems that are connected to the Internet to reduce the
risk of unauthorized interference with the system by a third party.
-
Absolutely change the default passwords and user names (if the device gives this possibility) of all applied network devices (recorders, cameras, routers, network switches, etc.) to the severe complexity password. Use lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers, and special characters if there is such a possibility.
-
Depending on the available functionality in the order to restrict access to the user network devices at the administrator account level, it is recommended to configure the user’s accounts accordingly.
-
Do not use the DMZ function (Demilitarized zone) in your router. Using that function you open access to the recorder system from the Internet on all ports, which gives the possibility for unauthorized interference with the system.
Instead of DMZ using port forwarding redirect only the ports which are necessary for the performance of the connection (detailed information about ports of communication in different models of recorders, cameras, etc. can be found in the operating instructions). -
Use routers with firewall function and make sure it is enabled and properly configured.
-
It is recommended to change the default network communication port numbers of used devices if there is such a possibility.
-
If used network devices have a UPnP feature and it is not used, turn it off.
-
If used network devices have a P2P feature and it is not used, turn it off.
-
If used network devices support HTTPS protocol for connection, it is recommended to use it.
-
If used network devices support IP filtering for authorized connections function, it is recommended to use it.
-
If the used recorder has two network interfaces it is recommended to use both of them to physically separate the network for cameras and the network for Internet connection. The only device in the system, accessible from the Internet will be a recorder – there will be no physical access directly to any camera.
