HARDWARE INTRODUCTION

  • Package Contents: R 101 Wireless Router, Quick Installation Guide

  • LED Signal:
    Stable and Bright – The device is ready for use.
    Flashing – The device is booting.

  • LAN/WAN: Works as WAN in Router/AP mode and as LAN in all other modes.

  • Power: Connect to SV power source.

  • Reset: Restore R 101 to factory defaults.

POWERING DEVICE

  1. Connect Micro USB (smaller end) of a USB cable to the router (USB cable not included)

RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULTS

If you want to set R101 back to factory default settings, first connect R101 to a power source, then press the Reset button for 5 seconds. Please note that this action will erase all previous setup.

OPERATING MODES

AP MODE (Default)
Convert existing LAN to wireless network. Suited to directly connecting to an existing LAN network.
Operating Modes
ROUTER MODE
Convert modem to wireless network. Suited to connecting directly to a modem. If your ADSL or broadband internet requires a PPPoE username and password, select the PPPoE option.

REPEATER MODE
Extend the range of existing wireless signal.

CLIENT MODE
Connects a device with a wired connection to a wireless network through R101.

Instant Wireless Connection

  1. Complete hardware connection of R101:
    Upon connecting R 101 to a power source, wait until the LED light stops blinking and stabilizes. Connect an Ethernet cable to the LAN/WAN port of Rl0l.

  2. Choose the method of connection for sharing wireless:
    Connecting to an existing network (AP mode): Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the LAN/WAN port and the other end to the existing network plug.
    Connecting directly to the modem (Router mode): Reset the modem and wait until the ONLINE LED is stable. Proceed to use the Ethernet cable to connect R101 to the modem via the LAN/WAN port.
    Regardless which method you choose, wait until the LED is blue before proceeding.

  3. Select the network on your computer or mobile device:
    Click the Wireless Network icon on your PC or mobile device to view the list of wireless networks available. Select the network named Gigastone_ xxx and click ‘Connect’. If you changed setup of R101 SSID, please select the SSID you set.

OPERATING MODE CONFIGURATION

  1. Upon connecting R101 to a power source, wait until the LED light stops blinking and stabilizes. Connect an Ethernet cable to the LAN/WAN port of R 101.
  2. Enter gigastone. setup/ into the URL address bar of a web browser. Enter admin for the password to proceed.
  3. Choose a mode on the left menu, reference the modes on the next page to setup, click ‘Save’ to complete configuration.
AP and Router Modes – AP, Router
  1. Set your wireless parameters.

  2. Click ‘Save’.

  3. Click ‘Refresh’ after 30 seconds.

Repeater Mode – Repeater
  1. Choose the network you want to connect to.

  2. Click ‘Save’. Wait for 50 seconds and click ‘Refresh’.

Client Mode – Client
  1. Refer to PC IP Address Setup below.

  2. Open the Internet browser and enter 192.168.16.254 in the URL address bar.

  3. Choose Client Mode from the left navigation menu.

  4. Choose the network you want to connect to.

  5. Wait for 50 seconds and click ‘Refresh’.

  6. Return to Network and Sharing Center and change the IP and DNS settings to automatic.

  7. You are now connected to the network.

PC IP Address Setup

Click -Network and Sharing Center- LAN – Properties – Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/1Pv4) – Refer to the picture to set your IP address.
