Hunter RPT Wireless Solar Repeater

Product Information

Specifications

  • Product Name: Repeater
  • Model: RPT, RPT-E Wireless Solar Repeater
  • Power Source: Solar-Powered
  • Battery Type: Rechargeable LiFePO (lithium iron phosphate)
  • Mounting: Universal Mounting Bracket
  • Maximum Repeater per Controller: 1

Product Usage Instructions

Installation
The Repeater is designed for outdoor, solar-powered installation. It relays LoRa signals between Hunter wireless devices to extend wireless range and overcome obstacles to line-of-sight (LOS) communications.

The Repeater includes a built-in solar panel, a rechargeable LiFePO battery, and a universal mounting bracket. It does not require an external power supply or any external wiring.

  1. Place the Repeater in a sunny, outdoor location with the solar panel positioned to receive maximum sunlight.
  2. The Repeater should be positioned at the highest practical elevation with a reasonably clear line of sight to the controller and the devices to be connected.
  3. Rotate the antenna and position it as close to vertical as possible. When the antenna is positioned vertically, either up or down, the solar panel is at the optimum angle.

Note:
Only the more distant devices will choose to use the Repeater. If devices can hear the controller directly, they will use that instead.

Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment.
  2. Place the battery in the battery storage area.
  3. Close the battery compartment and secure it with the screw.

Mounting

  1. Choose the necessary mounting hardware.
  2. If using the swivel ball mount, it has screw holes for wall mounting and slots for using stainless steel band clamps (approximately 5/8 or 15.8 mm wide).
  3. Insert the ball mount into its receptacle.
  4. Position the Repeater as required.
  5. Tighten the screw on the ball mount clamp to secure it.

Resetting the Repeater

If it’s necessary to reset the Repeater:

  1. Open the battery compartment and disconnect the battery cable.
  2. Press and hold the reset button while reconnecting the battery.
  3. Release the button within 5 seconds.
  4. The LED will flash green if the reset is successful or red if it is not successful.

FAQs

  • Q: How many Repeaters can be used per controller in the Wireless Valve Link System?
A: Only one Repeater is allowed per controller in the Wireless Valve Link System.

  • Q: What should be done if the Repeater does not reset successfully?
A: If the Repeater does not reset successfully, consult a representative of Hunter Industries Inc. or an experienced radio/television technician for additional suggestions.

Solar-Powered Wireless Hunter Repeater

  • The Repeater is designed for outdoor, solar-powered installation. It relays LoRa signals between Hunter wireless devices to extend wireless range and overcome obstacles to line-of-sight (LOS) communications.
  • The Repeater includes a built-in solar panel, a rechargeable LiFePO (lithium iron phosphate) battery, and a universal mounting bracket. (Additional mounting hardware may be required; for example, stainless steel band clamps for pole mounting.) It does not require an external power supply, and there is no external wiring of any kind.
  • Note: There is a maximum of one Repeater allowed per controller in the Wireless Valve Link System.
  • The Repeater should be placed in a sunny, outdoor location with the solar panel positioned to receive maximum sunlight.
  • It communicates directly between the Wireless Valve Output Module in the controller and the linked devices in the field.
  • The Repeater is most effective when it’s at the highest practical elevation, with a reasonably clear line of sight to the controller and the devices to be connected. Not all devices necessarily use the Repeater; if they can hear the controller directly, they will use that. Only the more distant devices will choose to use the Repeater.
  • The antenna can be rotated and should be positioned as close to vertical as possible. The detent on the antenna is used to set the solar panel angle. When the antenna is positioned vertically, either up or down, the solar panel is at the optimum angle.

Installation

  • Open the battery compartment using a small screwdriver.
  • Connect the battery using the small modular connector on the wires. Do not force the connector; only one way is valid. The LED will flash green when it’s connected.
    • Note: The screw terminals in the compartment marked + and – are not used in this product.

Place the battery in the battery storage area. Close the battery compartment and secure it with the screw.

  • Note the serial number on the bottom of the antenna (write it down or take a picture).
  • After the battery is installed, place the Repeater in direct sunlight. It may require 2 hours of sunlight to store enough solar power to be functional.
  • Choose the necessary mounting hardware. The swivel ball mount has screw holes for wall mounting, as well as slots for using stainless steel band clamps (approximately 5/8″ or 15.8 mm wide).
  • Insert the ball mount in its receptacle. Position as required, then tighten the screw on the ball mount clamp to secure it.

Configuration

  1. Open the Hunter WVL App.
  2. Connect the phone to the Wireless Valve Output Module via Bluetooth®.
  3. Go to Settings in the app, and select WVOM Settings.
  4. Select Add Repeater. Enter the serial number for the Repeater, and Submit.
    • Note: The Repeater and its version number should be displayed in the WVOM Settings tab after a few seconds.

Factory Reset

The reset button is located in the battery compartment. If it’s necessary to reset the repeater:

  1. Open the battery compartment and disconnect the battery cable.
  2. Press and hold the reset button while reconnecting the battery. Release the button within 5 seconds.
  3. The LED will flash green if the reset is successful. It will flash red if it is not successful.
