**** Your FlowSmart Meter connects to the internet via a YoLink hub
(SpeakerHub or the original YoLink Hub), and it does not connect directly to
your WiFi or local network. In order for remote access to the device from the
app, and for full functionality, a hub is required. This guide assumes the
YoLink app has been installed on your smartphone, and a YoLink hub is
installed and online (or your location, apartment, condo, etcetera, is already
served by a YoLink wireless network).

Install the App
If you are new to YoLink, please install the app on your phone or tablet, if
you have not already. Otherwise, please proceed to the next section.
Scan the appropriate QR code below or find the “YoLink app” on the appropriate
app store.

Open the app and tap Sign up for an account. You will be required to provide a
username and a password. Follow the instructions, to set up a new account.
Allow notifications, when prompted.
You will immediately receive a welcome email from no-reply@yosmart.com with
some helpful information. Please mark the yosmart.com domain as safe, to
ensure you receive important messages in the future.
Log in to the app using your new username and password.
The app opens to the Favorite screen.
This is where your favorite devices and scenes will be shown. You can organize
your devices by room, in the Rooms screen, later.
Refer to the full user guide and online support for instructions on the use of
the YoLink app.
Add Your FlowSmart Meter to the App
- Tap Add Device (if shown) or tap the scanner icon:
- Approve access to your phone’s camera, if requested. A viewfinder will be shown on the app.
- Hold the phone over the QR code so that the code appears in the viewfinder.If successful, the Add Device screen will be displayed.
- Follow the instructions to add your FlowSmart Meter to the app.
Installation
Preparing for installation
Determine where you will install your FlowSmart Meter. Typically, it should be
wall-mounted, no farther away from the meter than the length of the cable
allows.
Determine how you will secure the FlowSmart Meter to the wall. It can be
mounted several ways:
Hang the FlowSmart Meter from a nail, screw, or hook, using the “keyhole”
notch, or utilize all three mounting holes for a more secure method
(recommended).
Secure the FlowSmart Meter to a wall or vertical surface using alternative
fasteners or adhesive methods, such as double-sided mounting tape or Velcro
(not included).
Wall-mounting method
- The FlowSmart Meter has a standard “keyhole” notch on the rear, at the top. This allows for hanging the FlowSmart Meter from a nail or screw. Additionally, there are two more mounting holes at the bottom of the FlowSmart Meter. The use of the second and third holes will result in a much more secure mounting method. These holes are hidden behind the removeable access cover. This cover affords protection against tampering and device removal and their use is highly recommended. Refer to the figure below for instructions on how to remove the cover from the bottom of the FlowSmart Meter. Insert the tip of a slotted screwdriver and then gently twist it to pry off the battery access cover
- If desired, mark or otherwise identify the exact position of your FlowSmart Meter on the wall, including one or all of the mounting points (keyhole at top, two screw holes at bottom). Use a level tool to ensure your FlowSmart Meter will be level, if desired.
- Choose mounting hardware appropriate for the surface type. The included hardware (screws and plastic anchors) should be suitable for most types of surfaces, but substitute for another type, as required. Using plastic anchors, or another mounting hardware, as required, insert the topmost nail or screw into the wall, leaving a gap between the nail/screw head and the surface, as shown.
- Hang the FlowSmart Meter from this topmost screw or nail. If you will not utilize the second and third mounting points, ensure the Meter is secure, and proceed to Final Connections & Power-up
- If not already performed in a previous step, verify the FlowSmart Meter is level prior to pre-drilling or inserting holes for the lower mounting points. Insert one or both screws through the lower mounting points of the Meter and into the wall or anchor, tightening them and securing the Meter to the wall.
- Replace the access cover by pushing it back into place, after aligning the tab on each end with the matching slot in the Meter. Proceed to Final Connections & Testing.
Other mounting methods
Follow the manufacturer instructions if mounting your FlowSmart Meter by
alternative methods, such as with Velcro or double-sided mounting tape. If
using an adhesive method, is it recommended to clean and dry the surface,
first. Consider the possibilty of replacing or relocating the FlowSmart Meter
later, when choosing alternative mounting methods.
Final Connections & Power-Up
These steps are to be performed after the installation of the water meter.
Please refer to the water meter’s quick start guide or full installation
instructions, to complete the installation of the water meter, before
returning to this section.
- Connect the Meter’s cable to the water meter. This is a cable with a 2-pin connector that should be connected to the Meter already, on one end, and with “lever” type wire connectors on the other end. The two bare wires on the water meter’s cable must be connected to the lever connectors. (Lever connectors have a lever on each side, one for the wire coming in, and one for the wire going out. Lifting the lever allows the wire to be removed, while depressing it secures the wire in place.) Lift the levers on the empty side of the connectors, preparing them to accept wires. Matching the wire color on the wires already on the connector, insert the wires of the water meter cable into the connector, black wire to black wire, red wire to red wire. Holding the wires in place, depress the two levers. The levers should make an audible clicking sound. Gently tug on each wire, to ensure a good connection.
- The FlowSmart Meter will be offline until it is turned on and it wirelessly connects to the YoLink Hub. Turn on the Meter by pressing the SET button until you see the LED blink red, then green, which indicates the Meter has connected to the cloud.
- In the app, verify the Meter is indicated as online.
