Operating Instructions
Radio conversion kit for garage door drive
Please read carefully!
These operating instructions form an integral part of this product and contain
important information on how to commission, install and operate it. They must
be taken into consideration and given to the end user or other third party
when the installer hands over the product. These operating instructions must
be retained for future reference.
Damage resulting from abuse or misuse is not covered by warranty. The
manufacturer accepts no warranty for consequential losses that may result
directly or indirectly from use of this equipment. Any changes or
modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance
could void the user´s authority to operate the equipment.
The product meets the requirements of the current European and national
guidelines for electromagnetic compatibility. Conformity has been established
and the relevant statements and documents have been deposited at the
manufacturer.
The device may not be opened. Use only at weatherproof places.
The product complies with the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements of the current European guidelines. Conformity has been established and the relevant documentation has been deposited by the manufacturer. Operation without license, fee or declaration is permitted within the European Union and Switzerland
Appropriate use
With the SHR-7 FUGA receiver, your garage door control is operable with any number of Sender SHT-7. Only voltages < 40 V may be switched with the switch contact (led out cable). It replaces or complements the key provided by the drive manufacturer or the remote control for controlling the door drive. The danger of possible faults occurs at the radio connections. This should be taken into consideration for uses that can affect the safety of human beings.
**Safety Precautions
**
Please read, and abide by, the recommendations contained in these operating instructions. Damage caused by the incorrect application or by failure to follow these operating instructions is not covered by warranty. The manufacturer will under no circumstance be held responsible for further or consequential damage that may be attributed to direct or indirect use of this product. All changes or modifications not expressly approved by the manufacturer will void the warranty.
- For reasons of safety and conformity (CE) it is not permitted to modify or change parts of the product. Repair or any kind of soldering on the circuit board is forbidden.
- Connect only to a clean, stable mains power source 230V~/50Hz (refer to technical data)
- A conveniently located mains isolator must be installed into the mains circuit for hard-wired components.
- The electrical system must be equipped with an over-current trip, rated at 6A.
- Electrical devices should be out of reach of children. Please be extra careful if children are around.
- For commercial use, compliance must be made with the recommendations and instructions of the responsible regional/national authorities.
- Product operation and maintenance must be performed under the supervision of authorized, qualified personnel.
- Opening the product and installation has to be performed by authorized electricians only.
- The product must not be installed or used in places where a risk of explosion may exist.
- Using the receiver during periods where there is a risk of lightning storms is not recommended and is done at the users own risk
- The receiver is a state-of-the-art product. However, there is a risk of danger if installation or operation is performed by unqualified personnel
System operating range
The system is designed for a large operating range. Walls including steel reinforced concrete can be penetrated. The maximum range can be achieved under optimum conditions and by line-of-sight contact between transmitter and receiver without disruption by external high-frequency disturbances. The following are possible causes that could reduce the range of operation:
- Obstructing buildings, vegetation or other factors will substantially reduce the operating range.
- The distance between the antenna and the operator’s body or other conducting objects (e.g. Earth) may influence the working range.
- Background “electrical noise” could be relatively high so that the signal-to-noise ratio may decease and therewith the operating range. Also, other devices, with similar operating frequencies, operated in the neighborhood of the receiver may reduce the sensitivity.
- Operating the receiver adjacent to badly shielded electronic components (eg PCs) that can produce electromagnetic distortion, may severely reduce the range of operation and could result in intermittent operation.
Caution: To avoid the influence of “electrical noise” from the load connected to the receiver (e.g. DC-Motor) install the receiver within a distance of 1 m.
Commissioning
- Pull out the plug of the garage door drive from the socket.
- Connect the 2m long cable mounted on the SHR-7 FUGA to the switch input of the garage door drive or at an existing indoor button or key switch.
The cable may be used only for connection to the switch input of the control. Never use for switching 230V.
- Pull out the plug of the garage door drive from the socket.
- Plug in the SHR-7 FUGA in the previously used socket and insert the plug of the garage door drive into the socket of the SHR-7 FUGA.
- Open the sender (separate operating instructions enclosed) and configure an individual coding. Then close the sender again.
- Push the “learn” button with a pen. The LED next to it then flashes at one-second intervals.
- Press only the desired button of your remote control. As soon as the SHR-7 FUGA has learned the code, the LED blinks faster.
- Wait till the LED goes out. Now you can push the button of the remote control, that you have trained, to control the garage door drive.
Further information
You can use any number of senders with the same code configuration. SHR-7 FUGA always functions with the button that has been trained. Therefore, you can, for example, use another SHR-7 FUGA for your second door and operate it with another button. SHR-7 FUGA can however also learn a second code (configuration at the remote control). Thus, it is possible to control a common courtyard entrance with different remote controls and only the “correct” sender can activate the garage door. When you configure a third code, the code that was configured first is deleted. When you want to delete both the configured codes, you only need to learn another code twice.
