Warning
The vibration emission during actual use of the power tool can differ from the declared total value depending on the ways in which the tool is used. There is the need to identify safety measures to protect the operator that is based on an estimation of exposure in the actual conditions of use (taking account of all parts of the operating cycle such as the times when the tool is switched off and when it is running idle in addition to the trigger time).

Residual risks
Even when the tool is used as prescribed it is not possible to eliminate all residual risk factors. The following hazards may arise in connection with the tool’s construction and design:

1.  Damage to lungs if an effective dust mask is not worn.

Operation

•  Never allow children or people unfamiliar with these instructions to use the machine. Local regulations may restrict the age of the operator. When not in use store the machine out of reach of children.

•  This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

• Never mow while people, especially children or pets, are nearby.

• The operator or user is responsible for accidents or hazards occurring to other people or their property.

• While mowing, always wear substantial footwear and long trousers.

• Do not operate the machine when barefoot or wearing open sandals, always wear substantial footwear
  and long trousers.

• Thoroughly inspect the area where the machine is to be used and remove all stones, sticks, wires, bones, and other foreign objects.

• Before using, always visually inspect to see that the blades, blade bolts, and cutter assembly are not worn or damaged. Replace worn or damaged blades and bolts in sets to preserve balance.

• Mow only in daylight or in good artificial light.

• Avoid operating the machine in wet grass, where feasible.

• Always walk, never run.

• Never operate the appliance with defective guards, or without safety devices, for example, deflectors and/or grass catchers, in place.

• Working on banks can be dangerous.
  – Do not mow excessively steep slopes.
  – Always be sure of your footing on slopes or wet grass.
  – Mow across the face of slopes, Never up and down.
  – Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on slopes.

• Use extreme caution when stepping back or pulling the machine towards you.

• Never mow by pulling the mower towards you.

• Stop the blades if the machine has to be tilted for transportation when crossing surfaces other than grass and when transporting the machine to and from the area to be mowed.

• Switch on the motor according to instructions and with feet well away from the blade(s).

• Do not tilt the machine when starting or switching on the motor, except if the machine has to be tilted for starting in the long grass. In this case, do not tilt if more than absolutely necessary and tilt only the part which is away from the operator. Always ensure that both hands are in the operating position before returning the machine to the ground.

• Switch on the motor according to the instructions with feet well away from rotating parts.

• Do not put hands or feet near or under rotating parts. Keep clear of the discharge opening at all times.

• Always stand clear of the discharge zone when operating the machine.

• Never pick up or carry the machine while the motor is running.

Remove the safety key:

–whenever you leave the machine；
–before clearing a blockage；
–before checking, cleaning, or working on the machine；
–after striking a foreign object, Inspect the machine for damage and make repairs as necessary；
–if the machine starts to vibrate abnormally (check immediately).

Maintenance

• Keep all nuts, bolts, and screws tight to be sure that the machine is in safe working condition.
• Check the grass catcher frequently for wear or deterioration.
• Examine the machine and replace worn or damaged parts for safety.
• Ensure replacement cutting means of the right type are used.
• Ensure that batteries are charged using the correct charger recommended by the manufacturer.
• Incorrect use may result in electric shock, overheating or leakage of corrosive liquid from the battery.
• Always wear gardening gloves when handling or working near sharp blades.

Recommendations for Optimal Handling of the battery

• Ensure the switch is in the off position before inserting the battery. Inserting the battery into machines that have the switch on invites accidents.

• Keep the battery charger away from rain or moisture. Penetration of water in the battery charger increases the risk of an electric shock.

• Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery may create a risk of fire when used with another battery.

• Do not charge other batteries. The battery charger is suitable only for charging lithium-ion batteries within the listed voltage range. Otherwise, there is a danger of fire and explosion.

• Keep the battery charger clean. Contamination can lead to the danger of an electric shock.

• Before each use, check the battery charger, cable, and plug. If damage is detected, do not use the battery charger. Never open the battery charger yourself. Have repairs performed only by a qualified technician and only using original spare parts. Damaged battery chargers, cables, and plugs increase the risk of an electric shock.

• Do not operate the battery charger on easily inflammable surfaces (e.g., paper, textiles, etc.) or surroundings. The heating of the battery charger during the charging process can pose a fire hazard.

• Use only batteries intended specifically for the machine. The use of any other batteries may create a risk of injury and fire.

• When the battery is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.

• Do not open the battery. The danger of short-circuiting and injury.

• Protect the battery against heat, e.g., also against continuous sun irradiation and fire. There is a danger of explosion.

• Do not short-circuit the battery. There is a danger of explosion.

• In case of damage and improper use of the battery, vapors’ may be emitted. Provide for fresh air ，

•  The vapors’ can irritate the respiratory system.

• Protect the battery against moisture and water.

• Store the battery only within a temperature range between 0°C and 50°C. As an example, do not leave the battery in the car in summer.

Part Identification

Assembly

For Your Safety

•  Warning! Switch off, remove the safety switch key and the battery before adjusting or cleaning.
•  ● The blades continue to rotate for a few seconds after the machine is switched off.
•  Caution –do not touch the rotating blade.
• CAUTION: Remove the battery before assembling the unit.

Unpacking

This product requires assembly.
Carefully remove the product from the box.
Inspect the product carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping.
Do not discard the packing material until you have carefully inspected and satisfactorily operated the product.

BEFORE ASSEMBLY Firstly unpack and check all parts have been supplied. If you think any parts are missing, first, check the packaging again before calling the customer services helpline.

Mower Assembly

1. Fit the lower handle (6) onto the two large lugs on the main unit (13). Fit one side and then flex the other side of the handle until it fits the opposite lug. (See Figure 1).
   WARNING! Do not bend the lower handle to fit both ends at the same time as this may reduce the width of the lower handle section and it becomes insecure on the retaining pins. Ensure both ends of the bottom handle are slotted over the two bottom lugs and are hard against the lug end stops to ensure these do not slip off. Bend slightly outwards if necessary and refit.
   

2. Assemble the Upper handle (3) to the Middle handle (5).Use two sets of the nuts and bolts (Fig2) to secure in place. Make sure that the Upper handle (3) is facing up (safety button facing up) (see Figure 3). If you have incorrectly assembled this part, disconnect and re-assemble in the correct orientation.
   

3. Use two sets of the nuts and bolts (Figure2) to assemble the Upper and Middle handle assembly to the Lower Handle(6). The nuts should be positioned on the outside of the handle and the bolts on the inside. (See Figure 4)
   

4. Once the Handle is assembled connect the plug on the handle cable to the socket on the main unit. Tighten the screw ring to secure the cable. (See Figure 5)
   

5. Secure the cable to the handle using the three cable clips(Fig.6).

6.  Attach the Grass catcher to the mower base.
   Note: This mower can be used with or without the Grass catcher.

7. Step 1:
   Place the two Grass catcher sidebars onto both sides of the Grass catcher Hooks as shown in Figure
   Step 2:
   Wrap the Security Belt, located on the back of the Grass catcher, around the center joint of the Lower handles and lock buckle into place, as shown in Figure 8. Note the length of the Security Belt can be adjusted by modifying the loop length. (See Figure 8)

To install the battery

1. Open the Battery case cover(9) ;
2. Fully insert the battery pack (10) into the battery case until the Battery Lock Button (14) bounces back to its normal position.. Close the battery case cover securely.

To remove battery
To remove the battery pack, withdraw it from the tool while pulling the Battery Release Button (14) down(see Figure 9)

Operation

Starting
Warning!

•  Beware of sharp blades. The blade continues to rotate for a few seconds after the machine is switched off for your each time operations. Allow the motor/blade to stop rotating before switching “on” again.
• Do not repeatedly or rapidly switch off and on.
•  Keep bystanders away when using this lawnmower.

To start the motor
Insert the key (Fig. 10) into the slot. Then turn on the battery case on/off switch (see Fig 9) on the ON position.

• Press and hold the safety lock-out button (2).
• Pull the Operation Lever (Part 1 in Part Identification) upward to the handle to start the mower while holding the safety lock-out button (2).
•  • When the motor is starting to run you can release the safety lock-out button (2).

Stopping

• Release the operation lever (1). See Fig 11 The motor will be switched off, then turn off the on/off switch (see Fig.9) on the Main unit.

Warning! You also need to take out the mower locking key before storage after your use each time!

Cutting height adjustment
The wheels on the mower are set to the lowest cutting position at the factory before shipment. Before using the mower for the first time, raise the cutting position to the height best suited for your lawn. The height can be adjusted from 25mm to 56mm.

To adjust the blade height:
CAUTION: For safety ensure that the Battery is removed from the unit before adjusting the cutting height.

To prevent overloading the mower when cutting long, thick grass it is recommended to make one cut at the highest setting, then another cut at a lower setting. Adjust the mower to the desired height as follows:

1. Ensure that the roller is fitted flat, it is recommended that the height is adjusted on a level surface. It is also recommended that the Grass catcher be removed as this will allow easier access to the adjustment knobs.

2. Loosen the two large knobs, one on each side of the lower body, to allow movement of the roller arms. It is not necessary to remove the knob. (See Figure 12)

3. Slide the roller supports until the roller is at the required position, ensuring that it is level and the knobs are at the same height.

4. Tighten the knobs on both sides ensuring they are at the same height and properly secured. Low cut height – for short, dry grass; High cut height – for long, thick, or wet grass. (See Figure 13)

Blade Adjustment and Lubrication

WARNING: Blades are extremely sharp, to avoid injury be careful not to touch blades when making adjustments. Remove the battery before adjusting the blades.

Blades have been pre-adjusted prior to leaving the factory, misalignment can sometimes occur; this can be caused by blades being too loose or too tight against the cutting bar. This can cause an uneven cut or make the mower hard to push. To correct misalignment, adjustments to the cutting bar are needed. Each end of the cutting bar can be adjusted separately. Turn the two adjustment nuts clockwise to tighten; this moves the cutting bar closer in towards the blade. Turn the two adjustment nuts anti-clockwise to loosen and move the cutting bar further away from the blade.

NOTE: Adjusting the nuts while making blade adjustments is a very sensitive procedure. A turn of 1/16in is considered a major adjustment. Before tightening one adjustment nut, make sure to adjust the opposite nut an equal amount.

Do not over-tighten the adjustment nut, as this could damage the cutting bar.

To check for correct adjustment insert a piece of paper between the cutting cylinder and the straight blade.

Check with a piece of paper at each end of the blade to ensure correct adjustment along the length of the blade. When the cutting cylinder is turned by hand the paper should be cut cleanly.

If the paper is not cut then gradually tighten the nuts until the paper can be cut cleanly.

To maintain maximum run time and smooth, efficient cutting performance, an oil or spray lubricant can be applied to the edge of the straight blade and the shaft bearings.

Over Current Protection
The Mower is equipped with an “Overcurrent protection” device. It activates if the blade gets jammed, clogged or the motor is overloaded because you are trying to cut grass that is much too long, or wet. The machine will stop when this happens.

Only start the mower again after removing all obstacles or obstructions, setting the cutting height to its highest position, or waiting until the grass has dried out. After the over-current safety switch has operated it is necessary to wait approximately 3 minutes before you restart the mower. Press the circuit breaker RED BUTTON (Fig.9 on/off switch). You can then start the mower normally.

Mowing

• To obtain a clean-cut, push the unit in straight lines (passes) at a deliberate walking pace.
  Overlap the passes to even the cut and to avoid any uncut strips.

•  If you hear the motor in the unit change pitch dramatically while mowing, it may be overloaded.
  Attempting to force the mower to cut may damage the motor.

•  Check to see if the grass is very thick or long, a first cut with a height set higher will help reduce the load on the motor (See Cutting Height Adjustment section).

• Push the unit more slowly when cutting thick, long, or wet grass.

•  The area of the cut depends on the lawn conditions, grass thickness, grass length, moisture content, and height of cut.

• For the maximum area of cut, it is recommended to cut the lawn more frequently, mow in dry conditions, select a high cutting height, and walk at normal speed.

• Start mowing around the edges of the area to be mowed, then cut the central area in strips

Mowing using the grass catcher (supplied accessory)

• The grass catcher (7) collects the clippings as it mows. It attaches at the grass catcher hooks on the mower and by the strap to the mower handle. Mow using the same procedure as normal mowing.

RECHARGEABLE BATTERY

CHARGING BATTERY(Fig.14)

Before attempting to charge the battery pack, thoroughly read all Safety Instructions.
The battery needs to be charged before first use and whenever it fails to produce sufficient power on jobs that were easily done before.
The battery may become warm while charging; this is normal and does not indicate a problem.
NOTE: After several charges and discharge cycles, the battery will attain full capacity.

DO NOT CHARGE THE BATTERY AT AMBIENT TEMPERATURES BELOW 4º C OR ABOVE 40ºC.

1.  Plug the charger into an appropriate AC power outlet. The green indicator 13 lights on to tell you that the charger is ready for use.
2. Insert the battery pack 3 into charger 11, as shown in Fig 14, making sure the pack is fully seated in the charger. The red indicator 12 lights on to tell you that the battery pack is on charge.
3. The battery pack will be fully charged in about 2.0 hours. The green indicator 13 keeps green on to tell you that the battery pack is fully charged.

IMPORTANT CHARGING NOTES

The new battery already requires charging for 12 hours for the first 5 times of use. You can then normally charge the battery as described below.

1. After normal usage, your battery pack should be fully charged in about 2.0hrs hours. Allow the battery to cool down before charging after using the saw. (NOTE: A hot battery placed in the charger will not charge)

2.  DO NOT charge the battery pack in an air temperature below 4 °C or above 40 °C. This is important and will prevent serious damage to the battery pack. The longest life and best performance can be obtained if the battery pack is charged when the air temperature is about 24°C.

3. While charging, the charger may hum and become warm to the touch. This is a normal condition and does not indicate a problem.

4. If the battery pack does not charge properly
   • Check current at receptacle by plugging in a lamp or other appliance.
   • Check to see if the receptacle is connected to a light switch that turns the power off when you turn out the lights.
   • Move charger and battery pack to a surrounding air temperature of 40°F (4°C) to 104°F (40°C)
   • If the receptacle and temperature are OK, and you do not get proper charging contact customer services.

5. The battery pack needs to be charged before first use and should be recharged when it fails to produce sufficient power on jobs that were easily done previously. DO NOT CONTINUE using this product with its battery pack in a depleted condition. (NOTE: Only after several charges and discharge cycles, the battery will attain full capacity.)

6. To prolong battery life, avoid leaving the battery pack on the charger for extended periods of time (over 30 days without use). Although overcharging is not a safety concern, it can significantly reduce overall battery life.

7. The battery pack will reach optimum performance after being cycled 5 times during normal usage. There is no need to run the batteries down completely before recharging. Normal usage is the best method of discharging and recharging the batteries.

Additional safety instructions for battery and charger

Batteries

• Never attempt to open for any reason
• Do not expose to water
• Do not incinerate the battery even if it is severely damaged or is completely worn out. The battery pack can explode in a fire.
• Do not store in locations where the temperature may exceed 40℃
• Do not leave the battery pack in the charger when the charging is finished, otherwise, battery leakage may occur.
• Charge only at room temperature.
• Charge only at using the charger provided with the machine.
• Before charging, make sure that the battery is dry and clean.
• Use only the correct type of battery for the machine.
• When disposing of batteries follow the instructions given in the section “Protecting the environment”.
• Under extreme conditions, battery leakage may occur . When you notice liquid on the battery, proceed as follows:
• Carefully wipe the liquid off using a cloth. Avoid skin contact.
• In case of skin or eye contact, follow the instructions below.
• The battery fluid, a 25-30% solution of potassium hydroxide, can be harmful. In case of skin contact, immediately rinse with water. Neutralize with a mild acid such as lemon juice or vinegar. In case of eye contact, rinse abundantly with clean water for at least 10 minutes. Consult your GP.

Chargers

Risk of electric shock! The charger’s plug must match the outlet. NEVER modify the plug in any way.

• Use your charger only to charge batteries of the type supplied with your machine. Other batteries could burst, causing personal injury and damage.

• Only 2 batteries is allowed to be charged continuously in order to prevent overheating of the charger, necessary

•  rest time is required to let the charger cool down before further charging.

•  When charging is finished, unplug the charger from the mains socket outlet and take away the battery pack from the charger, do not leave the battery pack in the charger.

• Never carry the charger by its cord or pull it to disconnect from the socket. Keep the cord away from heat, oil, and sharp edges.

•  Never attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries.

•  The cord of the charger is not changeable, do not continue to use if the cord is damaged.

•  Do not expose to water or rain, do not use in wet conditions.

•  Do not open the charger.

• Do not probe the charger.

• Intended for indoor use only 

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

Warning! Switch “off”, remove the lock key, battery, and grass catcher box before adjusting or cleaning.

Always wear gardening gloves when handling or working near sharp blades. Do not lubricate the blade or blade bolt during refitting.

Remove the battery before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance. This will prevent you from accidentally turning on the unit whilst cleaning it.
Check for any faults such as loose or damaged blades, loose fittings, and worn or damaged components. If necessary carry out any repairs before using the mower again.
Check that covers and guards are correctly fitted and are not damaged in any way.
Clean the unit using a soft brush or cloth. Do not use an abrasive material to clean the product or immerse it in water.
Do not pick up liquids or use them on wet ground.
Do not use concrete, tarmac, or other rough surfaces.
Do not pick up pieces of string, stones, or fabrics with the mower.
Be aware of raised areas in lawns such as paving stones or manhole covers that can damage the blades.
Clean the exterior of the machine thoroughly using a soft brush or cloth. Do not use water, solvents or polish. Spray the cutting cylinder and lower blade with a low viscosity oil, such as spray oil.
Brush away any build-up of grass or leaves on the blades.

STORAGE
Before storing, remove the battery. Turn the unit on its side and clean the blade area. If grass cuttings are
compacted in the blade area, remove with a wooden or plastic implement.
Remove all grass and debris, store the unit in a dry place, out of the reach of children, and oil the blades. Do not place other objects on top of the machine. Always charge the battery after use, and every three months if stored for a long period of time.
For storage in confined spaces, the handles can be removed from the mower.
Disconnect the power cord and flex the lower handles to remove from the frame locating lugs.

DISPOSAL

• Coopers of Stortford use recyclable or recycled packaging where possible.
