Safety Instructions

PLEASE READ THIS MANUAL CAREFULLY BEFORE USING AND RETAIN IT FOR FUTURE REFERENCE

  • This appliance is for indoor/household use only. Do not use outdoors.

  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

  • Children should be closely supervised at all times to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  • Do not operate this appliance if the power cable or plug is damaged. If either is damaged return it to Duronic for service or repair by professional technician.

  • Please ensure the mains power supply is 220-240V / 50Hz

  • Never try to replace the parts and repair the unit by yourself.

  • To reduce the risk of electric shock, never operate this product with wet hands, spill liquid on the appliance or submerge it in water or any other liquid.

  • Do not place an appliance on or near a hot gas or on a heated oven.

  •  Do not let the power cable hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch a hot surface.

  • Pay close attention to the appliance whilst in use, never leave appliance unattended.

  • Never operate the product when the jug is empty and do not remove the jug lid before the blades come to a complete stop.

  • Before disassembling or cleaning the blender, ensure that it is switched off and unplugged from the electrical mains socket.

  • Do not touch moving parts.

  • Position the blender on a dry, flat and even surface.

  • Do not use any attachments which are not listed in this manual. The use of attachments, including canning jars, etc, are not recommended by the manufacturer and may cause a risk of injury.

  • Do not plug in or switch on the blender until the jug is in place on the base.
    Do not remove the jug from the base while the blender is switched on.

  • The jug and parts are not dishwasher safe – hand wash only.

  • Do not put large pieces of food in the blender. Chop or slice fruits and vegetables before blending them.

  • This blender is for domestic use only. It is not for commercial use.
    Warnings

  • The blades are very sharp. Please handle with care.

  • Misuse may cause serious injury.

  • Care is needed when handling cutting blade, especially when removing the blade from the jug, emptying the jug and during cleaning.

  • Keep hands and utensils out of jug while blending to reduce the risk of severe injury to persons or damage to the blender.

  • To reduce the risk of injury, always ensure that the blade assembly is properly attached onto the base of the jug.

  • Always operate the blender with the jug lid in place.

  • Do not blend hot liquids or hot food.

  • When blending pure liquid or water, do not put more than 1.5L into the jug.

  • If the lid is removed from the jug during the blending process, the blender will automatically stop.

  • Do not run the blender for more than 60 seconds continuously. If theblender is run for too long, the motor can overheat and it will automatically shut down. If this happens, empty the blender and allow the appliance to cool down for 45 minutes before using it again.

Assembling the Blender

  1. Before first use, remove all packaging and set aside.
  2. Clean the jug for the first time as per the instructions in this manual.
  3. Place the blender on a flat, dry surface and close to an electrical mains socket.
  4. Plug in the cable to a mains socket.

Using the Blender

  1. Open the jug lid and place the ingredients inside.
  2. Fill up the jug to no more than the max level mark on the jug body.
  3. If adding solid foods such as fruit and vegetables, add a wet ingredient like milk or water.
  4. Place the lid on the jug and then put the jug onto the blender base, ensuring that the jug lock is in the right position.
  5. Switch on at the socket. You are now ready to blend your mixture.
    Option 1 (Pulse):| Turn and hold the dial to the “P” position,the machine will start to work in pulsing your
    mixture quickly. Release the dial the machine will stop.

    Option 2 (Speed 1 and 2):| Turn the dial to speed 1 or 2, and the machine will start continually work without you needing to keep hold of the dial. When you’ve finished blending, turn the dial back to the “0” position.
  6. After you have finished blending, hold the jug handle and turn it anticlockwise to unlock it from the base.
  7. Place the jug on a flat surface, open the lid and pour the juice out.

Smoothie Recipes

When it comes to making smoothies, the recipe possibilities are endless! Here are some of our favourite smoothie recipes. Why not give them a go with your BL5 blender? If there’s an ingredient you don’t like, swap it for something else.

Tumeric Smoothie

  • 500ml coconut milk
  • 75g of diced pineapple
  • 1 frozen banana (semi-defrosted)
  • ½ tbsp of tumeric (ground)
  • ½ tbsp of cinnamon (ground)
  • ½ tbsp of ginger (ground)
  • 1 tbsp of chia seeds

Very Berry Smoothie

  • 350ml almond milk, skimmed milk, or coconut milk
  • 1 banana, broken into chunks
  • 200g frozen mixed berries (semi- defrosted)
  • 170ml plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional)

Tiramisu Milkshake

  • 120ml of milk
  • 120ml of black coffee
  • 3 scoops of vanilla ice-cream
  • 100g of mascarpone
  • 2 tbsp of ground coffee
  • 2 tbsp of cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp of sugar
  • 6 ice cubes

Cherry cookie Milkshake

  • 250ml of milk
  • 6 scoops of ice cream (vanilla or strawberry)
  • 225g of cherries (pitted)
  • 4 cookies + 1 for decoration
  • Whipped cream (for serving)
  • Chocolate sauce (for serving)

Spiced Pumpkin Smoothie

  • 500ml of vegetal milk
  • 225g of cooked pumpkin (cooled)
  • 1 frozen banana (semi-defrosted)
  • 6 almonds
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • A pich of nutmeg
  • A pinch of pepper
  • 2 tbsp of oats

*Each of these recipes will make 2 servings.

Quick Clean

  1. Fill the jug halfway with water, then add a few drops of washing up liquid.
  2. Turn control dial to ‘P’ pulse and then release the dial. Pulse the mixture 2 more times.
  3. Remove the jug, empty it and rinse it thoroughly under the tap.

Cleaning

Unplug the appliance from mains power socket before cleaning.
Clean the main body/base with a damp, well wrung cloth and then dry the unit afterwards with a dry towel.
Wash the jug, lid and blade assembly by hand with warm water and washing liquid.
Dry the jug and lid with a towel or leave to air dry. The blade should be left to air dry – ensure that this is left in a safe place (out of the reach of children).
**** Never immerse the base motor unit or power cable into water for cleaning.

Troubleshooting

What to do if your appliance stops working| CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
• Is the lid fastened onto the jug properly?
• Is the jug locked securely onto the base?
IF THE BLENDER IS STILL NOT WORKING:
If you have been using the blender for more than one minute consistently, it may be that the overheat prevention function has stopped the blender to allow the motor to cool down. Allow the motor to cool down for 45 minutes and try to use the blender again. If it still does not work, please contact the manufacturer for assistance.

There is a strange smell during blending| This is normal and fades away with time. The unit has a powerful motor which is brand new and factory installed. As you are the first user of the unit, you will receive a slight odour coming from the motor. However, with regular usage the odour will disappear.
Can I blend frozen fruits?| You can use partially frozen fruits. This means that they need to be removed from the freezer an hour or more before blending them. If using frozen food or ice cubes, please ensure you add a liquid to the mix to ensure the blender can blend efficiently.
