degrii THM-C Smart Thermostat

Compatibility

Based on Degrii’s online compatibility checker, the Degrii Thermostat demonstrates compatibility with a wide range of 24V systems, encompassing gas, electric, oil, forced air, heat pump, and radiant systems. It can control:

  • Heating: one, two and three stages (W1, W2)
  • Cooling: one and two stages (Y1, Y2)
  • Heat pump: with auxiliary and emergency heat (O/B, AUX, E)
  • Fan (G)
  • Power (C, RH, RC, R)
  • Humidifier or dehumidifier (HUM, DEHUM)

The Degrii Thermostat’s * connector can accept only one of these wires: E, HUM or DEHUM. The Degrii Thermostat is designed to work even if your home doesn’t have a common (C) wire but you will need to use either the CWA or 24v power adapter as an accessory based on your system type.

Installation Guide

STEP 1
Download the Download Degrii OS app and sign in or create an account. You’ll need it for installation and setup of your thermostat.

STEP 2
In the app home page, click “+ New Device” and add your Degii thermostat. Follow the app instructions to complete the installation. Watch degrii thermostat installation video guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXGQVuYZ36U

STEP 3

  • Switch off power
This protects you and prevents blowing a fuse in your equipment. Adjust the temperature on your old thermostat to verify that your system is off.

STEP 4

  • Remove cover
Some covers pop off, while others need to be unscrewed.

STEP 5

  • Check your system
If your old thermostat is labeled 120V or 240V or has thick wires with wire nuts, it indicates a high voltage system that is incompatible. If you’re uncertain, please reach out to our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

STEP 6

  • Remove any jumper wires
Jumper wires are short wires used to connect two terminals. They are not needed for the installation. The R wire should be inserted into the RC terminal.

STEP 7

  • Label wires
Peel off the labels from the label sticker provided and attach them to the thermostat’s matching wires.
If you notice two names assigned to each terminal on the backplate of your old thermostat, we recommend using the names that correspond to your HVAC type (Heat Pump or Conventional) or reaching out to Degrii customer support for prompt assistance and guidance.
Tip: Take a picture of the wires on your old thermostat for future reference.

STEP 8

  • Disconnect the wires and remove the base
It is advisable to wrap the wires around a pen or pencil in a careful manner after removing the base, to prevent them from inadvertently falling back into the wall hole.
Check: Does your old thermostat have C wire?

STEP 9

  • Mark where screws will go
Use the bubble level to make sure the Degrii Thermostat is level.

STEP 10

  • Attach the Degrii base
Pull the wires through the center of the base, then attach it to the wall with the screws.

STEP 11

  • Connect wires
After all the wires are securely connected, push them down to make sure they’re flush with the base.

STEP 12

  • Attach the display
Press the display onto the base until it clicks.

STEP 13

  • Switch the power back on

STEP 14

  • Complete setup through the app
The Degrii Thermostat will turn on and the app will walk you through completing the setup.

CWA Installation Guide

If you don’t have a C wire, you’ll need to use the Degrii C-Wire Adapter (CWA) to reliably power your Degrii smart thermostat.

CHECKPOINT: 4 WIRES
The C-Wire Adapter requires your system to have 4 wires W/W1, Y/Y1, G, and R (or RC or RH). Do you have these wires?

STEP 1
Take your C-Wire Adapter, wire labels, tools, your smartphone, and go to your HVAC system.

STEP 2
Open your HVAC system’s cover to reveal the control board.

STEP 3
Take a picture of the wires connected to your control board. You may need to reference this photo later on.

STEP 4
Label only the R, Y or Y1, G, and W or W1 wires with the match-ing labels provided. If you have more than one wire going into these terminals, only label those going to your thermostat.

STEP 5
Disconnect the wires labeled R, Y, G, and W from the control board.

STEP 6
Connect the wires you disconnected from the control board into their matching gray terminal blocks on the C-Wire Adapter.

STEP 7
Connect the five white wires coming out of your C-Wire Adapter to their corresponding terminals on the control board.

  • CHECKPOINT: C-Wire Adapter
Check that you have installed the C-Wire Adapter correctly. It should be installed between your thermostat wiring and your control board.

STEP 8
Mount the C-Wire Adapter inside your HVAC system, taking care not to strain the wires. Close the HVAC cover panel securely and return to your thermostat.

STEP 9

  • Back at your thermostat
Carefully disconnect and label the wires from your old thermostat one at a time, using the labels provided. If you have a jumper between RC, RH, or R, leave it alone. Only label the wires that run from your wall into a terminal block.
Note: Label the G wire as C. The G wire becames your new C wire to power the Degrii thermostat after installing the C-Wire Adapter.

STEP 10

  • Disconnect the wires and remove the base
It is advisable to wrap the wires around a pen or pencil in a careful manner after removing the base, to prevent them from inadvertently falling back into the wall hole.

STEP 11

  • Mark where screws will go
Use the bubble level to make sure the Degrii Thermostat is level.

STEP 12

  • Attach the Degrii base
Pull the wires through the center of the base, then attach it to the wall with the screws.

STEP 13

  • Connect wires
After all the wires are securely connected, push them down to make sure they’re flush with the base.

STEP 14

  • Attach the display
Press the display onto the base until it clicks.

STEP 15

  • Switch the power back on

STEP 16

  • Complete setup through the app
The Degrii Thermostat will turn on and the app will walk you through completing the setup.

24V Power Adapter Installation Guide

If you don’t have a C wire and a G wire, you’ll need to use the Degrii 24V Power Adapter to reliably power your Degrii smart thermostat.

  • CHECKPOINT: NO C and G WIRES?
The 24v power adapter can be used to power your degrii ther-mostat if you don’t have G and C wires on your old thermostat.

STEP 1

  • Take out your 24v power adapter from the box
Take out your 24v power adapter from the box and get ready to install it.

STEP 2

  • Thread the 24v power adapter wires
Thread the 24v power adapter wires through the side holes of the degrii thermostat backpanel.

STEP 3

  • Connect wires
Pull all the HVAC wires through the center of the back panel and connect them to the thermostat terminals. After all the wires are securely connected, push them down to make sure they’re flush with the base. Make sure the 24v power adapter wires are connected to the Rc and C terminals on the thermostat.

STEP 4

  • Screw the back panel to the wall
Attach the thermostat back panel to the wall with the screws.

STEP 5

  • Attach the display
Press the display onto the base until it clicks.

STEP 6
Switch the power back on. Also, ensure that you plug the 24v adapter into the wall socket and power it on.

STEP 7

  • Complete setup through the app
The Degrii Thermostat will turn on and the app will walk you through completing the setup.

Troubleshooting

If your Degrii thermostat doesn’t turn on, please try these steps:

  1. Check that all wires are properly inserted into the terminal blocks at the thermostat. Tug on the wires to ensure they are not loose.

  2. Make sure your HVAC cover panel is closed. Some systems will not turn on if the cover panel has not been closed properly.

  3. If you have only one R wire (either R, RC, or RH), make sure it’s inserted into the Rc terminal.

  4. If you installed the C-Wire Adapter, make sure you inserted the wires into the correct terminals.
The G wire of your previous thermostat is repurposed to C on the Degrii thermostat when the C-Wire Adapter is installed.

  5. Verify the connection of the C wire to the HVAC control board, ensuring it is properly connected to the designated terminal or nut.
Note: In some cases, even if the C wire is connected to the old thermostat, it may not be connected to the C terminal on the HVAC control board, particularly if the old thermostat operates on battery power.
