Set-Up
CHOOSE THE APPROPRIATE POWER SOURCE The DURA-NEB 3000 can be used with the following power sources:
- Rechargeable Internal Battery (optional)
- Multi-Voltage AC Charger/Adapter For Worldwide Use
- 12V DC Cigarette Lighter or Vehicle Outlet
TO USE THE DURA-NEB 3000 FROM THE WALL OUTLET (115V OR 230V)
- Connect the plug of the AC Charger/Adapter into the wall outlet A-1 .
- Plug the small round end of the AC Charger/Adapter into the socket on the front panel of the DURA-NEB 3000 marked “Power Input” A-2 .
- Read and follow the Instructions For Use included with your PARI nebulizer package.
Note: The Multi-voltage Charger/Adapter comes equipped with an American Pattern Plug. You may need an Adapter Plug Set A-3 , (sample plug shown) for most European Countries (Part No. 44F2207). The Charger/Adapter automatically converts the incoming voltage of the country visited. Manual switching is not required.
TO USE THE DURA-NEB 3000 FROM A 12V DC CIGARETTE LIGHTER OR VEHICLE OUTLET
- Plug the cigarette lighter end of the DC Charger/Adapter into the 12V DC cigarette lighter or vehicle outlet in the car, boat or motorhome B-1 .
- Plug the small round end of the DC Charger/Adapter into the socket on the front panel of the DURA-NEB 3000 marked “Power Input” B-2 .
- Read and follow the Instructions For Use included with your PARI nebulizer package
TO USE THE DURA-NEB 3000 FROM THE INTERNAL BATTERY
- You must fully charge the internal battery before using for the first time. To charge the internal battery, follow the steps in Section VII.
- As you take your treatment, please pay attention to the Battery Capacity Light so that the battery maintains a sufficient charge. The Battery Capacity Light will be green when the battery is fully charged and it will turn to yellow as the battery is depleted. When the Battery Capacity Light is red, the battery will need to be recharged (see Section VII). The battery will last longer if you recharge the unit as often as possible. Operating compressor when capacity light is red may damage battery. AVOID DRAINING THE BATTERY COMPLETELY, AS THIS WILL LOWER THE LIFE EXPECTANCY OF THE BATTERY.
- Read and follow the Instructions For Use included with your PARI nebulizer package.
Internal Battery Care (for 20F30-LC+ only)
Your battery is a gel, suspended cell battery, which does not require you to drain it completely before recharging. The battery will last the longest if you can recharge the unit after every treatment. The more you recharge the battery, the longer it will last. When the battery is new, the DURA-NEB 3000 will deliver up to 18 treatments when nebulizing 2.5 ml of medication using a PARI nebulizer. As time goes by, the battery capacity will diminish. The life of the battery is affected by how often you recharge it and how long you wait before recharging. The optimum care for the battery is to recharge it as often as possible
TO RECHARGE THE INTERNAL BATTERY
The DURA-NEB 3000 battery may be recharged using any wall or 12V DC vehicle
outlet. Make sure the compressor is turned off. Plug the small round end of
the adapter into the socket on the front panel marked “Power Input”. Plug the
other end of the Charger/Adapter into the wall or vehicle outlet. If using a
vehicle outlet, the vehicle must be running in order to recharge the battery.
If using a wall outlet, make sure it is not being shared by another power
consuming appliance. To ensure the battery receives a complete charge,
recharge unit overnight.
Recharging may take up to 8 hours, depending on the current charge level of
the battery.
REMOVING THE INTERNAL BATTERY
- Turn compressor face down on a flat surface.
- Gently lift up loose end of grey trim to expose battery access door D-1 .
- Insert flat screwdriver, coin, spoon handle, or flat object into door notch.
- Gently push in and LIFT screwdriver UP to open battery door. Remove door by lifting up D-2 .
- Tap compressor against your palm at door opening until battery is dislodged into your hand. DO NOT pry battery out with screwdriver or any other object. If it is difficult to dislodge battery, tap compressor against hard surface until battery is dislodged into palm D-3 .
WARNING
Do not store medication, nebulizer, or other objects in battery compartment if
no battery is installed.
REPLACING THE INTERNAL BATTERY
- Turn compressor face up.
- Insert battery, prongs first, as illustrated D-4 .
- Replace battery door.
- Press grey trim back into place.
- Charge new battery before first use (see section VII,
To Recharge the Internal Battery).
Proper Care And Maintenance
STORING THE DURA-NEB 3000
If you plan on storing the DURA-NEB 3000 for an extended period of time,
recharge the internal battery overnight once every 2 months, unplug the
compressor, then return it to storage. Under normal circumstances, as the
battery nears the end of its life, it will require recharging more frequently.
Contact your DURA-NEB 3000 dealer or PARI Patient Connection to purchase a
replacement battery (part# 20F1000) when you notice diminished battery
capacity.
Changing the battery is strongly recommended when the battery is not operating
properly. If the new battery does not correct the problem, then contact PARI
Patient Connection for service, (see section IX).
Note: Excluding battery, there are no user serviceable parts inside the DURA-NEB 3000 compressor case. Service by a non-authorized DURA-NEB 3000 service center voids warranty.
CLEANING THE DURA-NEB 3000 HOUSING
Use a damp cloth to wipe the exterior of the DURA-NEB 3000 housing. Do not use any commercial cleaners on the unit.
MAINTENANCE
Never operate the DURA-NEB 3000 if it is damaged or improperly or incompletely assembled. Use only original PARI parts and attachments authorized by PARI for the DURA-NEB 3000. Use of other parts and attachments may damage the unit or cause improper treatment. Do not open or disassemble the compressor unit (except for the Battery Access Door) at any time. Repairs, service and maintenance should be carried out only by an authorized PARI service center.
CLEANING THE TUBING
If there is any moisture or condensation in the tubing, let the compressor run with only the tubing attached for 10 minutes. The warm air from the compressor will dry the moisture or condensation. Alternatively, you can dry the tubing by removing it from the compressor and hanging it up with the “ends down” E-1 to allow any moisture or condensation to drain out and evaporate. Use a damp cloth to wipe the exterior of the tubing.
FILTER REPLACEMENT
Under normal conditions, the filter on the front panel of the DURA-NEB 3000 should be replaced after 500 hours of use, or sooner if it appears soiled (grey), clogged or wet. Check the condition of the filter after every 10-15 treatments. Do not attempt to wash and re-use filters. Do not use substitute filter materials as compressor damage can result. Any attempt to use alternative filter materials will void compressor warranty and cause damage to the compressor. When replacing the filter, make sure that the front panel ON/OFF switch on the DURA-NEB 3000 is in the “OFF” position. Turn the round plastic filter cover counterclockwise (left) and remove filter (use a coin to help turn the cover if tight). The entire filter assembly was designed as a remove and replace item E-2 . That means removing the filter, discarding it, and replacing it with a new filter assembly (part# 41F64). Note: Do not attempt to disassemble filter assembly. Do not attempt to wash and re-use filter material. Do not attempt to replace the filter material only.
