Use
Preconditions for use

WARNING: Filtering devices are NOT to be used if there is any confusion about their intended use or the conditions in which they are to be used. The following instructions must be observed when using the filtering devices.
Noncompliance with this warning may result in injury or death.

  • Follow exactly the valid national regulations relating to the use of filtering devices (in Germany e.g. DGUV-R 112-190, in Australia and New Zealand e.g. AS/NZS 1715:2009, in the US e.g. 29 CFR, Part 1910.134).
  • The ambient conditions (particularly the types and concentrations of contaminants) must be known. Use corresponding respiratory filters. If the contaminant is unknown, use only self-contained (open-circuit) breathing apparatus or airline breathing apparatus.
  • Always use two respiratory filters of the same type from a single pack.
  • Only use filtering devices if the air does not directly endanger the health or life of the user.
  • It must be ensured that the ambient atmosphere cannot change for the worse.
  • Do not use filter apparatus sets if there is suspicion of contaminants with low warning properties (smell, taste, irritation of eyes and airways). In this case, leave the danger area immediately, as the half mask can start to leak.
  • Do not use filtering devices for entering unventilated tanks, mines, canals, etc.
  • Do not use in oxygen-enriched atmospheres.
  • The oxygen content of the ambient air must not drop below the following minimum values:
  • at least 17 Vol% oxygen in all European countries except the Netherlands, Belgium, and the UK
    • at least 19 Vol% oxygen in the Netherlands, Belgium, UK, Australia, and New Zealand
    • at least 19.5 Vol% oxygen in the US
    • In other countries, observe the applicable national regulations

Before use

Inserting the respiratory filter

  1. Hold bayonet-type connector CAUTION: When fitting the respiratory filters, make sure that the mask body is not kinked. Otherwise, the mask body could be damaged.
  2. Insert respiratory filters so that the line markings line up (refer to Figure C1).
  3. Twist each respiratory filter downwards until the stop (refer to Figure C2).

WARNING

  • The bayonet catch must NOT be fitted on one side only! The respiratory filter must be straight when locked in position! Always use two respiratory filters of the same type.
  • Noncompliance with this warning may result in poisoning or death

NOTICE: By releasing the two latches, the half mask can be comfortably placed on your chest (refer to figure G

Donning the half-mask

  1. Put the harness around your neck (refer to figure D).
  2. Follow further steps according to figures E-F.
  3. Test for leaks.

Leak tests

NOTICE: Procedure for a leak test, see: www.draeger.com/ifu?SearchTerm=9300875

WARNING

  • Facial hair or facial features may impair the required tight seat of the half mask – the risk of poisoning!
  • The half mask must fit tightly and the respiratory filters must be fitted before entering the contaminated area

Seal the respiratory filter or filter connection by hand or using an aid (e.g. a piece of cardboard) and breathe in until a negative pressure is created (see Fig. H). Briefly hold your breath.
The negative pressure should be maintained. If not, tighten the harness or use a different mask size.

Maintenance

Inspection and maintenance intervals

Drager-X-plore-3000-Half-Mask-Respirator-Set-FIG-16

Cleaning and disinfecting

Clean and disinfect the half mask after each use

WARNING

  • The mask body must be cleaned thoroughly so that there are no residues of skin care products on the mask body. Otherwise, the elasticity in the sealing area could be reduced and the mask will not fit anymore.
  • Noncompliance with this warning may result in poisoning or death

CAUTION
Risk of damaging the material!
Do not use any solvents (e.g. acetone, alcohol) or cleaning agents with abrasive particles for cleaning and disinfection. Only apply the described procedures and use the specified cleaning and disinfecting agents. Other agents, dosages, and contact times may cause damage to the product
