Product Information

The product is an Access Point (AP) that can extend the Wi-Fi coverage in your house. It is used when the wireless signal provided by the router from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is weak in certain areas. By connecting the AP to your router, you can improve the Wi-Fi signal strength and coverage.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Connect the AP to your router using a wired connection, following the provided topology.
  2. Connect your laptop wirelessly to the router.
  3. Click Start -> Setting -> Network & Internet -> More network adapter options to modify the IP address for your laptop.
  4. Right-click on the wireless network adapter and click Properties.
  5. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 TCP/IPv4 and click OK.
  6. Select “Use the following IP address” option and enter the IP address 192.168.0.X (e.g., 192.168.0.11) and Subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Click Save to save the settings.
  7. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the AP (192.168.0.254) in the address bar. Enter the default username and password (both are “admin”) and click Login to access the AP’s web management UI.
  8. In the AP’s web management UI, click Quick Setup on the left menu.
  9. Modify the wireless network name (SSID), Security Mode, Encryption Algorithm, and password to be the same as your router’s settings. For example, set Tenda test as the wireless network name (SSID), WPA2-PSK as Security Mode, AES as Encryption Algorithm, and set a WiFi Password for both 5GHz and 2.4GHz Radio Band. Click Save to save the settings.
  10. If you want to manage the AP after the initial setup, you can modify its IP address to be in the same IP segment as your router. In the web management UI, click Internet Setting on the left menu and set an IP address (e.g., 192.168.5.254) as an example. Skip this step if not needed.
  11. Change the IP address obtain method on your laptop from “Use the following IP address” to “Obtain an IP address automatically” to ensure your laptop can get the correct IP address from the router for internet access.
  12. Check if you can access the internet in all corners of your house.

How to modify the Wireless Network Name (SSID) of AP to be the same with

your router.

Background:
When the router provide by the ISP deliver the weak signal in some location in your house, we can extend the Wi-Fi coverage through add Access Point (AP), please do following the steps as below.

Cautionï

  1. The IP address of AP is in the different IP segment of your router, so we need modify the IP address of your computer firstly to access the AP’s Web management UI.
  2. We need to change the computer’s IP address obtain method to be Obtain an IP address automatically after the settings to make sure the computer can get the correct ip address from the router to access internet.

SETTING UP

  • Step 1: Connect the AP to your router wired following the topology on the top firstly.
  • Step 2 : Connect to your laptop to the router wirelessly
  • Step 3: Click Start-> Setting->Network & Internet->More network adapter options to modify the IP address for your laptop

  • Step 4: Right Click on wireless network adapter and click Properties

  • Step 5: click Internet Protocol Version 4 TCP/IPv4 and click OK to next step.

  • Step 6: Click Use the following IP address option, then enter IP address 192.168.0.X(here we take 192.168.0.11) and Subnet mask 255.255.255.0, then click Save to save settings.
    Note: the default IP address of AP is 192.168.0.254, we need make sure the computer and AP in the same IP segment.

  • Step 7: Open the web browser and enter ip address of AP 192.168.0.254 in the address bar, then enter default username and password both admin and click Login to login into AP web management UI .

  • Step 8: Click Quick Setup on the left menu to modify the wireless network name (SSID), Security Mode, Encryption Algorithm and password to be the same with your router. Here we set Tenda test as wireless network name (SSID), WPA2-PSK as Security Mode, AES as Encryption Algorithm and WiFi Password as example for both 5Ghz and 2.4GHz Radio Band. Then Click Save to save the settings.

  • Step 9: If you want to manage AP after settings, you can modify the IP address of the AP in the same IP segment with the router.
    Click Internet Setting on the left menu, here we set IP address 192.168.5.254 as example. If not, just skip this step.

  • Step 10: Modify the IP address obtain method from Use the following IP address to Obtain an IP address automatically to make sure your laptop can get the correct ip address from the router to access the Internet.(we can refer to step1 to step6) .

  • Step 11: Please check whether you can access the Internet in each corner.
