IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING – Please read the instructions carefully before you use the product.

  • You must follow the usage and precautions in the User Guide when using this product. Growatt is not responsible for any damage caused by using the product not in accordance with the User Guide.

Usage

  • Read all the instructions before using the product.
  • Do not put fingers or hands into the product.
  • Do not stack any heavy objects on the product.
  • To reduce risk of damage to electric plug and cord, pull the plug rather than the cord when disconnecting the power pack.
  • Please avoid impact, falls or severe vibrations when using the product. Do not use the product after it has been hit by a strong force or dropped from a height.
  • Do not use wires or other metal objects to cause product short circuit.
  • The use of unofficial component is strictly prohibited, which may result in a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. For replacement, please check the relevant purchase information on the Growatt official website (https://www.growattportable.com). Growatt is not responsible for product accidents and malfunctions caused by the use of products not officially provided by Growatt.
  • Do not disassemble the product or pierce the product with sharp objects.
  • Make sure the machine is turned off before installing or unplugging any modules of the machine, otherwise the power interface may be damaged.
  • Avoid exposing the product to water. Do not immerse the product in water or get it wet. Do not use the product in rain or humid environment, otherwise the battery may catch fire or explode.
  • If you accidentally drop the product into water while using it, please stay away from the product and keep it in a safe open area until the product is completely dry. The dried product should not be reused again and should be disposed of properly according to the disposal guide in this manual.
  • Do not use the product in an environment of strong static electricity or magnetic field. Otherwise, it may cause the product to malfunction or serious damage.
  • Do not place this product in a microwave or pressure cooker.
  • The operating environment temperature of this product ranges from -10°C to 40°C (from 14°F to 104°F). Using this product in a high temperature environment may result in fire or explosion. Conversely, using the product at ultra-low temperature will seriously degrade the product performance and may cause the product to stop working.
  • Do not use any batteries or appliances which have been damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable dangers resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.
  • If the product catches fire, it is recommended to use fire extinguishing equipment according to the following priorities: sand, fire blanket, dry powder, carbon dioxide fire extinguisher, water, or fog.
  • It is recommended to use a moisture-proof bag to avoid soaking in water if it is used in a humid environment (e.g. riverside, seaside, lakeside, etc. ) Take measures to prevent electric shock. If it is soaked in water, please  immediately put it in a safe, waterproof, open and ventilated area, and contact the Customer Support.
  • lt is forbidden to force the fan to be blocked during use, or place the product in a non-ventilated environment, a closed environment, or a dusty environment.
  • This product is not suitable for medical equipment and precision instruments (including but not limited to CPAP\ECMO) related to personal safety.
  • Electromagnetic fields are inevitably generated during the use of power products, which may affect the normal operation of implantable medical equipment or personal medical equipment. Please consult the manufacturer in advance to confirm the restrictions and precautions for using the equipment, and operate strictly according to the requirements.
  • You may use a dry cloth to clean off the dirt on the product.
  • To reduce the risk of injury, close supervision is necessary when the product is used near children.
  • Use of an attachment not recommended or sold by power pack manufacturer may result in a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • Do not operate the power pack with a damaged cord or plug, or a damaged output cable.
    – Do not disassemble the power pack, take it to a qualified service person when service or repair is required. Incorrect reassembly may result in a risk of fire or electric shock.
    – To reduce the risk of electric shock, unplug the power pack form the outlet before attempting any instructed servicing.
    – WARNING – RISK OF EXPLOSIVE GASES.
    To reduce risk of battery explosion, follow these instructions and those published by battery manufacturer and manufacturer of any equipment you intend to use in vicinity of the battery. Review cautionary marking on these products and on engine.
    – PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS
    NEVER smoke or allow a spark or flame in vicinity of battery or engine.
    Be extra cautious to reduce risk of dropping a metal tool onto battery. It might spark or short-circuit battery or other electrical part that may cause explosion.
    – When charging the internal battery, work in a well ventilated area and do not restrict ventilation in any way.
    – Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
    – Do not expose a power pack to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 130°C may cause explosion. The temperature of 130°C can be replaced by the temperature of 265°F.
    – Have servicing performed by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the product is maintained.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

This product must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This product is equipped with a cord having an equipment grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes ordinances.
WARNING – Improper connection of the equipment grounding conductor is able to result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the product – if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.

Storage and Transportation

  • Keep the product out of the reach of children and pets. If your child accidentally swallows product parts, seek for medical help right away.
  • For long-term storage, keep the battery level between 30%-60% and store it in a temperature range of 0°C~40°C /32°F~104°F in a room with low humidity and no corrosive gas. If the battery of the product is in a low
    -power state for a long time, the battery will enter a deep sleep mode, and the battery may even be damaged in a serious low-power state. To wake the battery from deep sleep, please recharge the portable power station.
  • Do not place the product near a heat source, such as in a fire or a heating furnace. The product should be stored in a dry environment. Do not place the machine in water or where it may leak.
  • Be sure to fix it well during transportation to avoid vibration and impact, and make sure that the power of the product is less than 30%.
  • Do not store or transport this product with eyeglasses, watches, metal necklaces, hairpins, or other metal objects.

Disposal Guide

  • Be sure to completely discharge the machine battery before placing the machine battery in the proper disposal location as per local rules and regulations. Batteries are hazardous chemicals and should not be disposed of in ordinary trash cans. Follow local laws and regulations for battery recycling and disposal.
  • If the product itself fails and the battery cannot be fully discharged, please contact a professional battery recycling company for further processing.
  • Please dispose of damaged and over-discharged batteries and those that cannot be charged. The following situations can trigger the aforementioned conditions: drop, strong impact, severe vibration, short circuit, falling into water, etc.

Battery Percentage Display: When the product is in a state of net charge, this icon indicates the last bar beating.
Wi-Fi Indicator: When Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned on, the icon is always on. When Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned off, the icon is off. When the Wi-Fi configuration information is reset, the icon flashes.

How to Use

Before use, please put VITA 550 on a clean and flat ground to ensure that the machine will not be in contact with liquid or tilted, and check whether there are foreign objects on the body.

Product ON/OFF
A) Press and hold the power button for 1s to turn on the whole machine, and the LCD screen will be lit after turning on. Press and hold for 3s to turn off the whole machine, and the LCD screen will be turned off after shutting down.
B) When the product does not have any operation for 5min, it will enter the sleep mode. At this time, the LCD screen will automatically turn off. When the external charging input or key operation, the LCD screen lights up.
To activate the LCD screen, short press the power button. The sleep time can be set on the APP.
C) The default standby time of VITA 550 is 1h when the device is not at charging or discharging status, the product will automatically shut down after 1h. The standby time period also can be set by the APP
USB Power ON/OFF
D) When the screen is on, short press the USB power button to use the USB output supply. Short press the USB output button again to turn off the USB output.
E) The maximum output power of the USB-A port is 12W, the maximum output power of the USB-A fast charging port is 18W, and the maximum output power of the USB-C port is 100W.
DC Power ON/OFF
F) When the screen is on, short press the DC power button, the indicator light is on, and the DC output port (including the car output port and the DC 5521 output port) can be used. Short press the DC output button again, the indicator light will be off, and the DC output will be turned off.
G) The DC 5521 output port allows a maximum output current of 3A, and the car output port supports a maximum current of 10A.
AC Power ON/OFF
H) To turn on the AC output supply, short press the AC power button, and you will observe the AC power indicator lights up, and the AC output port can be used. Short press the AC output button again, you will observe the AC power indicator lights off and the AC output will be turned off.
I) The total output power of the AC output ports is up to 600W (across all ports). When the total output power exceeds the rated power, the product will trigger overload protection, cut off the AC output and prompt an overload alarm. Unplugging the AC load will clear the alarm and restore normal AC output.
Wireless Charging
J) Wireless charging is activated when the DC power is turned on. You can charge wirelessly by placing the device within the wireless charging range on top of the product.
This feature is only available for devices that support wireless charging. You can check the wireless charging status by charging status of your smart phone
LED Light Power ON/OFF
K) When the screen is on, short press the Light button to turn on the LED lighting, and when the LED light is on. Short press the Light button again, the LED lighting flashes.
I) Short press the LED lighting button again, the LED lighting is turned off. The LED lighting patterns cycle in sequence. LED lighting brightness can be set on the APP.
N) The light brightness also can be adjusted by the APP.

Getting to Know the VITA 550

If your portable power station has not been used for more than 3 months, it is recommended to discharge the battery to 0% and then charge it to 100% to avoid calibration errors after a long time of inactivity.

How to Recharge
Notice Before Charging

  • This product supports wall charging, solar panel charging, and car charging.
  • This product supports charging and discharging at the same time. In the case of AC charging, only DC discharge is supported.
  • Do not use a charging cable not officially designated by Growatt for charging. Otherwise, Growatt will not be responsible for any consequences.
  • When charging, please make sure to place the machine away from liquids, flammables, and combustibles.
  • If the product is charged immediately after full-load discharge, over-temperature protection may be triggered for battery safety reasons. It typically takes 2-3 hours for the product to cool down before another charge.
  • The products recharging temperature range is 0°C~40°C / 32°F~104°F. Charging within the ideal charging ambient temperature temperature 20°C~30°C / 68°F~86°F can greatly extend the battery life.

AC Charging
The AC charging ports for the VITA 550 are located on the right side of the product. Please follow the instructions
below to connect and recharge the product.

  • The AC charging port of this product is configured for AC charging simultaneously. There are two charging speed modes: fast charge and slow charge, for users to choose.
  • AC charging is in fast charge mode by default. You can switch between AC fast and slow charge modes through the APP or by short pressing the fast and slow charging switch button. After restarting, it will remember the last used mode.

The Car charging port for the VITA 550 is located on the left side of the product. Please follow the instructions below to connect and recharge the product.

  • VITA 550 can be charged through the car port on the car. This function needs to be used after the car is ignited to prevent the car battery from being depleted and unable to start. At the same time, ensure that the car charger port and the car cigarette lighter are in good contact. Growatt will not be responsible for any loss caused by not operating in accordance with the instructions.
  • Standard Charging Mode: 300W Max, Fast Charging Mode: 500W Max Press the Fast Charge button to switch to Fast Charging Mode.

PV Charging
The Vita 550 supports the character of rated power 240W and DC voltage output of 12V~24V solar panels to charge this product. Please use it strictly in accordance with the solar panel specifications.
The series and parallel connection methods of solar panel to ensure that you are connecting the solar panels correctly for charging. If the product is damaged due to incorrect connection not in accordance with the instructions, Growatt will not be responsible for the free maintenance of the machine within the warranty period.
The solar charging ports for the VITA 550 are located on the left side of the product. The VITA 550 DC input range is 12V-24V. You must ensure that the input voltage is within the specified range. When the input voltage exceeds 24V, the excessive voltage may cause damage to the product and the VITA 550 will trigger over voltage protection.

  • This product doesn’t support AC and solar panel charging simultaneously. If connected at the same time, the AC charging method will be preferred.

A) Connect with Growatt Solar Panels
You can charge the VITA 550 by connecting up to two 12V solar panels in series or using one 24V solar panels.
Connect the MC4 connector on the solar panel to the MC4-XT60 adapter cable, and supply power to the VITA 550 through the XT60 port on the side of the VITA 550. When you need to connect two solar panels, it is recommended to connect the two solar panels in parallel, and then use the MC4-XT60 adapter cable to connect to the VITA 550 for charging.

B) connect with Other Branded Solar Panels
Users can purchase other brands of solar panels (supporting MC4 Connector) to power the VITA 550 through their own channels. As long as the voltage and current are within the DC input range of VITA 550 (12-24V/10A Max/ 240W Max), users can charge VITA 550 through the MC4 to XT60 adapter cable.
Please follow the figure below to connect the positive and negative poles. Incorrect connection may result in damage to the product. During the warranty period of product is damaged due to quality problems of the third-party solar panels or improper operation, Growatt is not responsible for free maintenance during the warranty period.

Watt+ Feature

To avoid operation failure caused by charging overload protection of electrical equipment, when the total output power exceeds the rated output power, it is recommended to enable the Watt+ feature on the APP first, so that the product can supply power to high-power devices.
When using the Watt+ feature, it is important to note the followings:

  • This product turns off the Watt+ feature by default. This feature can be turned on or off by using the My Gro APP.
  • Watt+ feature is not available when this feature is turned off.
  • The Watt+ feature is suitable for heating equipment and electrical equipment, but not for all electrical appliances. It is not suitable for some electrical appliances equipped with voltage protection or equipment that requires high voltage accuracy of the equipment. Whether the device can use the Watt+ feature, please refer to the actual test.
    PS: The product AC output port has 600W rated power and 1200W peak power. It is recommended to confirm the functional power of the device before use, and ensure that the total power of all devices is lower than the rated power.
    Watt+ is disabled when AC power is connected to VITA 550.

How to Connect to APP

EPS mode
EPS Use Guide
When using wall charging as the input method, turning on the AC output and plugging in devices on AC ports will automatically activate the EPS mode. Please connect the device according to the figure  below to enable the EPS function.

Precautions before Using the EPS Feature
This function is a non-professional EPS function and does not support 0ms switching. Please do not connect it to equipment that is highly sensitive to uninterrupted power  supply, or perform multiple tests before use. EPS only supports the use of electrical appliances below 600W, and do not  use other devices at the same time during  use to avoid overload protection. EPS function is only supported when one VITA 550 is running independently, and it is not available when multiple VITA 550 work in series. Growatt is not responsible for equipment failure or  loss of data if the instructions are not followed.

Pairing the Product with Your Device
When the product is connected to the APP for the first time, you need to use Bluetooth pairing for network configuration. Please get as close as possible to the product and make sure the phone is within the Bluetooth coverage of the device.
Download ”My Gro” APP from App Store or Google Play. Or you may download it from the official website http://www.growattportable.com or scan the QR code from the sticker attached with the device (For first-time users, you need to follow the instruction and complete account registration on the APP).

You may choose any one of the following ways to connect your portable power station: Remote Wi-Fi Connection
a) Go to the Device page and click Add Device. Or select the ”+” button at the top right of the page, then select Add Device.
b) Short press the Wi-Fi Reset button to send Bluetooth & Wi-Fi signals and connect with your mobile devices.
c) Follow the instruction on the APP and finish the rest of the setup.

Local Bluetooth Control
a) Go to the Device page and click Pair via Bluetooth. Or select the ”+” button at the top right of the page, then select Fast Pair.
b) Short press the Wi-Fi Reset button to send Bluetooth & Wi-Fi signals and connect with your mobile devices.
c) Follow the instruction on the APP and finish the rest of the setup.
d) Once you complete the connection setup, you may remotely control your portable power station through local connection (Bluetooth) or remote connection (Wi-Fi).

Pairing the Product with Your Device
If the device is already bound to a mobile device, you need to un-pair the product from the current device before re-pairing it to the new mobile device. After re-pairing, you can use the new mobile device to remotely control the product.

  • Un-pair from the existing device.
    Method 1: Un-pair using APP
    a) Go to Device, select the product from the device list to enter the product details, and then click to enter the setting page.
    b) Click Remove Device and confirm.
    Method 2: Reset Bluetooth/Wi-Fi to un-pair
    c) Press and hold the Wi-Fi Reset button on the device for 3 seconds until you hear a beep. The device pairing record is cleared successfully.

  • After successfully un-pairing the device, please login to the APP on the new mobile device to pair the device.
    (Please refer to the steps in I. Pairing the Product with Your Device.)

Using Multiple Mobile Devices to Control the Product
If multiple users need to remotely control the product, the master account needs to authorize other MyGro accounts to allow other mobile devices to control the product.

  • Go to Device, select the product from the device list to enter the product details, and then click the to enter the setting page.
  • Select Share device, enter the account ID of the device to be shared, and send a pairing invitation.
  • After the invited account accepts the invitation, the device is shared successfully.
  • If the master account unpairs from the device, the associated shared account will be un-paired simultaneously and the device cannot be controlled remotely.

FAQ

Can I take VITA 550 on a plane?

No, you can't. This product is a lithium battery product. According to international air transport regulations, lithium battery products exceeding 100Wh cannot be carried on the plane.

Why does the VITA 550 not work properly when the total output power of the device is within the rated power of the VITA 550?

First, please check whether the charge of the product is too low and charge it sufficiently prior to use. Secondly, check if the surge power usage of the equipment exceeds the instantaneous peak power of the VITA 550. If so, you should use Growatt higher power products.

Why does the VITA 550 make noise when in use?

The product contains air cooling system, and the built-in fan helps the product to dissipate heat. A slight noise when the product is in use is normal.

Will VITA 550 automatically shut down?

VITA 550 supports power saving function. By default, the LCD display will turn o ffafter 5 minutes of inactivity, and will automatically shut down after another 1 hour of inactivity. You can change the automatic screen-off and automatic shutdown time via MyGro APP.

How to clean VITA 550?

If the VITA 550 needs to be cleaned, please wipe it with a dry, non-abrasive cloth or use a special cleaner for LCD screens to achieve better cleaning results. Do not let water enter the inside of the product, which may cause damage to the circuit or parts!

Error Codes

A00 System Alert Restart the portable power station. If the problem persists

A01| Fan Blockage| Please check if the fan is blocked. If there is a blockage, please turn off the machine and remove the blockage, then restart the product to return to normal. If the problem persists, please contact Growatt Customer Service for repair.
A02| High Temperature Warning| Turn off the product and place it in an open area for 2-3 hours. After cooling, the product will continue to work normally.
A03| Inverter Overload| The AC output is overloaded. Unplug the load(s) on the AC output port(s) and keep the total AC output power within 600W to resume normal operation. Overloading for a long time may cause damage to the product.
A04| Low Battery Voltage| The battery voltage is too low. Please recharge the battery in time.
A05| PV Over Voltage| PV input voltage is too high. Please check the status of the solar panel. If the output voltage of the solar panel is normal, please contact Growatt Customer Service for repair.
A06| USB Output Overload| Please check the output power of your USB devices. Remove your USB device(s) if the output exceeds the maximum output of the USB port(s).
A08| PV Board Over Temperature| Disconnect the solar panels from the portable power station to resume normal operation.
A09| Discharge Over Temperature| Turn off the product and place it in an open area for 2-3 hours. After cooling, the product will continue to work normally.
A10| High Battery Temperature| Turn off the product and place it in an open area for 2-3 hours. After cooling, the product will continue to work normally.
A11| Low Battery Temperature| Continue using the portable power station, the temperature will rise and the product will resume normal status. If the error persists, contact Growatt Customer Service for repair.
F00| System Failure| Restart the portable power station. If the problem persists after several attempts, please contact Growatt Customer Service for repair.
F01| Output Short Circuit| Please check if there is a problem with the output loads. Remove the loads to resume normal operation. If the problem persists, please contact Growatt Customer Service for repair.
F02| Product Over Temperature| Turn off the product and place it in an open area for 2-3 hours. After cooling, the product will continue to work normally.

Unable to  recharge
VITA 550| Check if the charging cable is plugged in properly.| Double check that the interface of the charging cable is in good contact.
Please check if any error codes are displayed.| Check whether there is a fault code displayed, and if so, follow the troubleshooting guide.
Didn’t find any of the problems above.| Contact Growatt Customer Service for repair.
VITA 550 is not powering
my devices| Check if the load(s) are plugged in properly.| Please make sure the load(s) are in good connection with the output port(s).
Please check the AC/DC power indicator supply and see if the output
power is turned on.| Press the AC/DC power button to turn on  AC/DC output. You should see the AC/DC indicator light up once the output power is turned on.
Please check if the battery is too low.| Please recharge VITA 550 with the provided power cable
Please check if the device’s startup power exceeds the surge peak of VITA 550.| Double check that the interface of the charging cable is in good contact.
Please check if any error codes are displayed.| Double check that the interface of the  charging cable is in good contact.
Didn’t find any of the problems above.| Contact Growatt Customer Service for repair.
