TubShroom ts 1.5 Tub Hair Catcher Protector Installation Guide
Troubleshooting
How does TubShroom work?
TubShroom features a unique mushroom-shaped design with long, flexible strands that catch and collect hair as water flows through the drain. It allows water to freely pass through while capturing hair and other debris, ensuring a clog- free drain.
How can I clean my TubShroom?
Here are our recommended best-practice cleaning and maintenance instructions. The TubShroom® is dishwasher safe, and is safe to virtually any bleach-free cleaner in your home. We definitely recommend rinsing the TubShroom® every time that you clean the hair by simply holding it in the stream of warm running water. If your TubShroom® already accumulated some soap sediment, we suggest that you squeeze the TubShroom® a few times in your hand. It will help break up any substance built up on the inside of the unit helping the cleanup process. Then you can soak it in a water and non-bleach cleaner solution, and then use an old toothbrush to clean it. It is recommended to clean TubShroom once a week or as needed. This cleaning method seems to work best after prolonged use. We also recommend this all-purpose cleaner solution:
All-Purpose Cleaner: Mix 1/2 cup vinegar and 1/4 cup baking soda (or 2 teaspoons borax) into 1/2 gallon (2 liters) water
How should the TubShroom fit in the drain?
The TubShroom was designed to sit about 0.5″ higher than the drain opening to allow for the water and hair to pass through to the strainer part.
I have crossbars in my drain, will the TubShroom work for me?
Unfortunately, the TubShroom does not work with drains with existing crossbars as there isn’t enough depth for the TubShroom to operate. The only course of action would be to remove the crossbars in that drain. Here is a step by step guide on how to remove it:

Does the TubShroom operate as a stopper? Can it hold water in the tub?
No, the TubShroom is NOT a stopper. It only catches hair and debris from going
down the drain.
It DOES NOT block the drain. It is a drain filter, NOT a drain plug. If you
wanted to fill the tub with water you would have to remove it from the drain
and insert a conventional drain plug and/or drain cover.
We offer a StopShroom model whose purpose is to stop water in the drain.
What sized drain is the TubShroom meant for?
The TubShroom Fits any standard 1.5” – 1.75” tub drain.. TubShroom fits inside the drain, neatly collecting and concealing hair around it, unlike regular, unsightly bathtub hair catcher plugs that go over the drain.
Is TubShroom easy to install?
Yes, TubShroom is incredibly easy to install. Simply remove your exisƟng drain cover, insert the TubShroom into the drain, and press it down unƟl it sits flush with the tub surface. No special tools or complicated instrucƟons are needed.
Will TubShroom slow down the water drainage in my bathtub?
TubShroom is designed to allow water to flow freely through its gaps while catching hair and debris. In most cases, it does not impede the water drainage. However, if you once any slow drainage, it may be due to excess hair accumulaƟon. Regular cleaning of TubShroom will prevent this issue.
Can TubShroom be used with a pop-up drain stopper?
TubShroom is not capable with pop-up drain stoppers, as it requires direct contact with the drain
opening to effecƟvely catch hair. If you have a pop-up drain stopper, you can remove it or consider using a different hair catcher specifically designed for pop-up drains.
Is TubShroom safe for sepƟc systems?
Yes, TubShroom is safe for use with spec systems. It does not interfere with the normal functioning of spec systems and helps prevent hair from entering the system, reducing potential clogs.
