Operation and UH

Soak the meter for 12 hours in tap water before first use.

  1. Remove the protective cover.
  2. Gently clean the electrode with distilled water and dry it off.
  3. Press the On/off button to start the meter.
  4. Insert the meter upright into the solution up to the edge and stir gently. Wait a few seconds for the correct value to appear on the display.
  5. Press the C/F button to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
  6. Press the MODE button to switch between pH, EC, PPM and TDS.
  7. Rinse the electrode with water after use and press the On/off button to turn off the meter.

Our electrodes are designed for dry storage. Therefore, storage in liquid is not required for the electrode.

Calibrating the ph meter

Watch the How-to videos at Aqua Moster Tools’ website.

  1. Press the On/off button to start the meter.
  2. Press the MODE button to switch to pH on the display.
  3. Gently clean the electrode with distilled water and dry it off.
  4. Insert the meter in an upright position in pH buffer solution pH 7.01 (make sure this is 25 •c or 77 •F) and stir gently.
  5. Wait until the value on the display is stable.
  6. Press and hold the 0C/°F I CAL button for 5 seconds until the value of the buffer solution is displayed. The meter will automatically recognise the buffer solution and calibrate itself. As soon as the meter switches back to the standard mode, calibration is complete.
  7. Gently clean the electrode with distilled water and dry it off.
  8. Repeat the process with pH 4.01 buffer solution.
  9. It is important to follow the above process order, always start calibrating pH 7.00 and follow with pH 4.01.
  10. Carefully clean the meter after this process.
  11. Calibration is completed and the meter is ready for usage when all steps have been completed.

Calibrating the EC meter

Watch the How-to videos at Aqua Master Tools’ website.

  1. Press the On/off button to start the meter.
  2. Press the MODE button to switch to EC on the display.
  3. Open the top of the meter.
  4. Insert the meter in an upright position in calibration solution (μSiem 1413) EC 1.41 (make sure this is 25 ‘C) and stir gently.
  5. Wait until the value on the display is stable.
  6. Use the screwdriver to turn the EC value adjustment screw on top of the meter (next to the batteries) until the value on the display equals the value of the calibration solution.
  7. Rinse the meter with clean water. Calibration is complete.
  8. For calibrating your EC meter, please use calibration solution with a value that is as close as possible to the value or values that you measure on a regular basis. In the greenhouse horticulture industry, this will usually be 12,880 μSiem (equal to an EC value of 12.88).

Use fresh calibration solution for each new calibration.

When is calibration required?

  • If the electrode has been replaced.
  • If the meter was last calibrated over a month ago.
  • If the meter is used on a regular basis.
  • If high precision is needed.

Replacing the electrode

Watch the How-to videos at Aqua Muster Tools’ website.

  1. Properly unscrew the sealing ring in the lower part of the meter.
  2. Remove the defected/old electrode by gently pulling it.
  3. Carefully place the new electrode with the recess in the correct position so that the connectors properly connect and do not damage the meter or electrode.
  4. Check that the rubber seal is properly placed.
  5. Tightly tighten the sealing ring
  6. Calibrate the meter as described in this manual.
The meter is now ready for use.

Warning

  • If your meter is not working properly, watch the troubleshooting videos on the product page of our website aquamastertools.com
  • Always make sure that there are no air bubbles present in the solution during calibration. This could affect the measurements.
  • If the EC value does not decrease to 0, insert the electrode into ethyl alcohol and shake gently for 5 to 1 O seconds.
  • Make sure the calibration solution is 25 °C when calibrating the meter. Failure to do so may affect the result of the calibration.
  • Never store the electrode in distilled water.
  • DO NOT immerse the electrode in oil, proteins or suspended solids that leave a layer on the glass bulb.
  • DO NOT soak in RO (Reverse Osmosis), distilled or de-ionized water. Pure water alters the chemistry of the reference liquid so that it no longer works.
  • DO NOT place a cold electrode in hot liquid (or vice versa). Sudden changes in temperature may break the glass and permanently damage the pen. Broken glass is not covered by the warranty.
  • Make sure not to bump the glass electrode into anything, because this might break the glass bulb on the outside of the internal glass tube. Broken glass is not covered by the warranty. Avoid placing the meter near ballasts or any other electrical appliances. Force fields may affect the readings.
  • If during calibration the pH/EC value slowly keeps rising or dropping and does not stabilize, please replace the batteries and calibrate the meter. Bad batteries or low power levels may influence the measurement results.

Warranty

This meter is warranted from all defects in material and manufacturing for a period of one year from the date of purchase. The electrode is warranted from all defects in material and manufacturing for a period of six months from the date of purchase. If during this period any parts need reparabon or replacement and the damage is not due to incorrect operation by the user, please send the parts to the dealer or to us and the repair will be free of charge. Please refer to the exclusion warning.
