Usage
Before initial use
Warning: Before commencing with fishing inform yourself with regard to national and local regulations. These instructions describe the current information on the item.
Fishing is a very versatile sport. Therefore, we recommend that you read additional expert literature and/or gather information from clubs and organisations.
Assembling the fishing rod
Even if the angling set is assembled ready for fishing, you must still check the following points with regard to its assembly before its initial use. This ensures safe functioning of the rod and reel.
-
The castor wheel (1c) must be inserted into the reel brackets (1a) and the screw fastener (1b) must be tightened clock-wise.
-
Put the crank (1g) into the required position by folding it up. Ensure that the opposite crank screw (1f) is tight.
-
Loosen the brake (1h) by turning it anti-clockwise. Pull enough fishing line (1j) from the reel (1e) and guide it under the line guide bracket (1d) through all the rod rings. Tighten the brake again by turning it clock-wise.
-
Pull the rod out, segment for segment, starting at the top ( see Fig. C).
-
Ensure that the rings of each segment are aligned ( see Fig. D ).
Casting bait with an over-the-head throw
Ensure that the back rotation lock (1i) is tight. Grip the rod by the handle, ensuring that the castor wheel is between your middle and ring fingers. Your pointing finger grips the fishing line when the roller lever is still closed, and holds it against the fishing rod by keeping it down. Open the line guide bracket and guide the fishing rod past the head, sideways, to the rear – your free hand grips the end of the rod handle in this manoeuvre, giving you additional stability and control. The fishing line, together with the bait, should not twist, and the distance between the bait/lead and top end of the fishing rod should be sufficient to enable an elegant swing. Visualise your end point in the water, and swing the fishing rod forward, with an even movement forward, steadily increasing in speed. Your pointing finger releases the fishing line the moment the top end of the fishing rod points to your end point.
When your bait hits the water, i.e. once it’s reached the desired depth, lock the line guide bracket.
Intended use/ Tips for successful fishing
Delta-Sport-Nr.: AC-8279
The fly and cast fishing set was developed for light lure and cast fishing in lakes, ponds, and rivers.
With its maximum casting weight of 40g it’s particularly suitable for trout
and bass fishing. The reel is wound with a mono-filament fishing line, with a
0.22mm diameter, with a maximum load of 3.0kg. In practice, however, much
heavier fish have been landed with this fishing line. The fishing set has been
pre-assembled with a spinner specifically for trout and bass fishing. Throw
out the bait, let it sink for a moment, and then reel in evenly, so that the
spinner starts to rotate, imitating a bait-fish.
Try to find good fishing sports (so-called hotspots) where trout and bass, as
well as bait-fish, like to frequent. Good areas, especially in spring and
autumn, are around branches or reed belts in the water, the so-called
“troughs”. Often oval in shape, these are deep recesses on the bottom of the
body of water, caused by special currents, objects or by the natural flow of
the river. Even if the spinning rod is very flexible and bendy, which cushions
the strong pulling of escaping fish, the brake must be set in such a way that
a slight left turn of the knob enables the fish to slowly pull line from the
reel, with medium to strong pulling, when the line guide bracket is locked
off. By doing this, loss of the bait is prevented, or even a line-break, while
landing the fish.
Delta-Sport-Nr.: AC-8280
The children’s fishing set was developed for light rod and float spin and cast fishing in lakes, ponds, and rivers. With its maximum casting weight of 20g it’s particularly suitable for fishing smaller non-predatory fish, such as roach and bream, and smaller predatory fish such as trout and bass.
The reel is wound with a mono-filament fishing line, with a 0.25mm diameter, with a maximum load of 3.3kg. In practice, however, much heavier fish have been landed with this fishing line The fishing set has been pre-assembled with a fishing-ready rod and float assembly, in such a way that the float can be shifted to the fishing line by pushing the cord-stop, in order to place the bait in the required depth. Ensure that the assembly allows for sufficient throwing leeway; in relation to the rod length of 165cm, the distance between float and hook should not be too great. Place natural bait onto the hook (worms, maggots, corn etc.) and place these in the required spots in the body of water. A bite is evident when the float sinks. Through swift and even pulling of the rod in an upward motion, hook the fish and land it. Even if the fishing rod is very flexible and bendy, which cushions the strong pulling of escaping fish, the brake must be set in such a way that a slight left turn of the knob enables the fish to slowly pull line from the reel, with medium to strong pulling, when the line guide bracket is locked off. By doing this, loss of the bait is prevented, or even a line-break, while landing the fish.
Delta-Sport-Nr.: AC-8281
The ground and feeder fishing set was developed for use in lakes, ponds, rivers, and the sea. With its maximum casting weight of 100g, it’s particularly suitable for eel and carp fishing. The reel is wound with a mono- filament fishing line, with a 0.35mm diameter, with a maximum load of 6.5kg. In practice, however, much heavier fish have been landed with this fishing line. The fishing set has been pre-assembled with a fishing-ready ground fishing assembly. Place natural bait onto the hook (worms, fish scraps etc.) and place these in the required spots in the body of water. Put the fishing rod in an upright position in the body of water and use the accompanying bells on the top end of the fishing rod as acoustic bite indicators. As an optical aid in the dark, you can fasten a glow stick to the fishing rod. A bite is evident when the top end of the fishing rod bends/beats and when the bells toll. By doing this, loss of the bait is prevented, or even a line- break, while landing the fish.
Glow sticks serve as visual bite indicators in the dark. They are inserted into commercially available glow stick floats or attached to a rod float with the adapter provided. When using ledger fishing/shore fishing rod sets, glow sticks can also be attached to the end of the fishing rod with adhesive strips.
Using glow sticks (Fig. E)
Carefully tear open the bag and remove the tubes. Bend the tube in the middle until you hear a light cracking sound. Bending the tube at a 45 degree angle is usually sufficient. Then quickly and vigorously shake the tube to achieve its maximum luminescence. They stay lit for approx. 10 hours, depending on the external temperature.

The fly and cast fishing set was developed for moderate lure and cast fishing in lakes, ponds, rivers, and in the sea. With its maximum casting weight of 70g, it’s particularly suitable for trout and bass fishing.
The reel is wound with a mono-filament fishing line, with a 0.30mm diameter, with a maximum load of 5.5kg. In practice, however, much heavier fish have been landed with this fishing line.
The fishing set has been pre-assembled with a wire leader and a wobbler specifically for pike fishing. Throw out the bait and then reel in evenly. The wobbler imitates a bait-fish and thus lures the predatory fish into biting.
Try to find good fishing sports (so-called hotspots) where pike and bait-fish like to frequent. Good areas, especially in spring and autumn, are around branches or reed belts in the water, the so-called “troughs Often oval in shape, these are deep recesses on the bottom of the body of water, caused by special currents, objects or by the natural flow of the river.
Even if the spinning rod is very flexible and bendy, which cushions the strong bites of fish, the brake must be set in such a way that a slight left turn of the knob enables the fish to slowly pull line from the reel, with medium to strong pulling, when the line guide bracket is locked off. By doing this, loss of the bait is prevented, or even a line-break, while landing the fish
Ethical behaviour
Your enjoyment of fishing should also be dictated by respect for fish and nature. In addition to the national and local regulations, please keep in mind some important basic rules for fishing.
- Ensure that you have all necessary fishing accessories for landing fish safely with you, to remove the fish-hook gently, so you can release the fish or to kill it ethically. For many fishing styles, this especially includes landing nets, measuring tape, stunning device, knife, disgorger, fish-hook remover or fisher’s pliers.
- Do not drag caught fish along the ground or in the sand, as this can easily lead to injuries of the sensitive mucous membrane. Always handle the catch with wet hands for this reason.
- Release under-size fish, and fish in spawn, gently.
- Fish for eating must be stunned properly and killed humanely with a knife.
- Even if the fish are biting ubiquitously, do not over-do it and do not catch more fish than is really necessary.
- Always leave the fishing spot in the same state as you would like to find it.

Preventing injuries
The chemicals in the glow sticks are not toxic. Glow sticks should not leak if
they are handled properly and with care. However, if they do leak, the
chemicals may cause irritation upon contact with the skin. Thoroughly rinse
these areas with water. If the chemicals make contact with eyes or any other
mucous membranes, rinse them thoroughly and contact a doctor.
Glow sticks are not toys. Please keep this product out of reach of children
under 14 years of age.
Preventing damage to the product
In the unlikely event that the glow stick does leak, keep the chemicals away from textiles as they are difficult to wash out with commercially available detergents.
Maintenance and cleaning
After use in salt water, do a quick rinse of the rod and reel with lukewarm water. When the reel is dry, put one or two drops of oil on all moving parts to ensure that functionality and lifespan are maintained.
Storage
When not in use, always store the product clean and dry at room temperature.
Delta-Sport-Nr.: AC-8281
