CARE INSTRUCTIONS

STAINLESS STEEL

  • High-quality (18/10 sink material) stainless steel has a natural resistance to common hot acids and stains such as coffee, tea, fruits, and vegetables.
  • Steel is a safe and bacteria-free material which makes it a safe choice for food preparation. The sink doesn’t release anything that could affect the ingredients used in cooking.
  • The heat resistance of the sink is excellent but it’s good to note that hot dishes can leave marks on the sink which doesn’t affect its usability of the sink.
  • Over time, the stainless steel surface will be scratched and at first, the sink may look scratched, but when you use it regularly the entire surface begins to scratch evenly and the individual scratches no longer separate from the surface. Scratching doesn’t affect sink usability.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER INSTALLATION

  • Protect the sink while tiling, painting or doing other repairs.
  • Do not wash paint brushes or store strong chemicals in the sink.
  • Heavy items can damage the surface of the sink.
  • Clean the sink immediately of any dirt caused during installation with mild handwash.
  • It is very important to clean any small metal particles that might have come from piping or tools. Metal particles rust quickly and gain small rust spots on the surface of the sink.

MAINTENANCE – CLEANING THE SINK

  • Kitchen sinks should be cleaned regularly before the sink start to look dirty.
  • After use, always clean the sink with a soft towel.
  • Warm water and hand dishwashing can be used for daily cleaning.
  • If “rust spots” that don’t loosen in normal cleaning have gathered on the surface of the sink, you must get them removed, for example, by using steel wool (this scratches the surface of the sink) including soap. After this, rinse the sink and dry it thoroughly. Doesn’t apply to PVD sinks (colors copper and brass).

REMOVING STAINS
Cleaners for the sinks can be ordered from our website: www.lapetek.fi. You will also find more information and FAQ questions about sinks, as well tips for cleaning and using the sinks too.

NOTE!
If you are using other than recommended products for cleaning (for example, drain openers) their suitability must be verified before use.

The most common causes of stains:

  • Layered and tough dirt
  • Limescale
  • Coffee and tea stains
  • Different fats
  • Different colorants
  • Rust stains and metal stripes

RECYCLING
Stainless steel sinks are completely recyclable, regardless of their life of usage. All packaging materials of the product are also 100% recyclable. More detailed information about recycling at: www.kierratys.info.fi.

INSTALLER SIGNED PRODUCT TEST DOCUMENT

During installation, the installer must check the checklist below. Please note that the first checkpoints take place before the actual installation. By signing the document, the installer ensures the installation has been carried out in accordance with the installation instructions and that the sink is functioning properly and is flawless.

Before installation:

  1. When removing the sink from the packing check that all parts are included. Check also that the sink has no visible surface defects/flaws/color defects/dents/scratches etc.
  2. The hole has been made in the worktop for the sink according to the dimensional drawing from the installation manual. The sink has been fitted to it before installation.
  3. The straightness of the worktop on all sides of the sink has been checked,
  4. The sink and the hole for the sink have been treated with silicone (not adhesive) as instructed.
  5. The wall/floor drain is installed in relation to the sink in such a way that the water trap can be installed in such a way that it doesn’t interfere with the installation of the waste mechanism and the sink or other functions. After installation:
  6. All of the piping connections have been tightened and checked.
  7. The sink is filled with water up to the overflow and the water plug is opened, to ensure good water flow and tightness of the piping.
  8. The piping of the sink is installed in such a way that it doesn’t disturb the functioning of the waste mechanism.
  • In case any of the checkpoints 1) to 8) above are not in order, the installer must immediately contact the seller/customer as well as Lapetek service at +358 9 2511 030 for further information.
