Product Information

The 970 Illuminated Exit Button is an electrical switch used for controlling access to a door. It is designed to be installed in conjunction with an electric lock to provide secure entry and exit. The button features an illuminated lamp for easy visibility, and it comes with a utility box for mounting. The narrow version of the button is compatible with narrow-frame profiles measuring 1-5/8 x 4-3/4 inches or larger. The standard color for the button cap is blue.

The switch terminals on the button are labeled as follows:

  • #1 and #2: Normally closed for fail-safe systems
  • #3 and #4: Normally open for fail-secure systems

There are also pins that power the lamp of the push button. The voltage for these pins should match the voltage marked on the back of the faceplate and packaging.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Slide the colored leads onto the switch terminals according to the provided diagram.
  2. Ensure that all connections are properly attached to the terminals.
  3. For fail-secure systems, connect leads to the electric lock and check for proper operation.
  4. For fail-safe systems, connect leads to the electric lock and check for proper operation.
  5. Once the connections are verified, fasten the plate to a utility box (supplied by others) for secure mounting. Make sure to follow the voltage specifications for the pins that power the lamp of the push button. The voltage should match the information marked on the back of the faceplate and packaging.

Instructions

  1. Slide the colored leads onto the switch terminals according to the diagram below.
  2. Check all connections to be sure that they are properly attached to the terminals. Fail-secure and fail-safe have different connections.
  3. Connect leads to electric lock and check for proper operation, then fasten the plate to a utility box (supplied by others). “N” narrow version (1-5/8” x 4-3/4”) is compatible with 1-3/4” (or larger) narrow-frame profiles. A blue cap is standard.

Switch Terminals

  • 1 and #2 are Normally closed for fail-safe systems

  • 3 and #4 are Normally open for fail-secure systems

  • A and B Pins that power the lamp of push button + – Match voltage marked on the back of faceplate & packaging
