Product Usage Instructions
Unpacking
Open the carton and check the contents. The package should include:
- One EX42000 Switch
If any items are missing or damaged, contact your Ether WAN representative. Keep the carton and packing material for future shipping or storage needs.
Equipment Needed
To connect the switch, you will need:
- Category 5 or better cable for RJ-45 port
- Appropriate fiber cable for fiber ports
Select a Location
Choose a suitable location for installation:
- Install the switch on a DIN rail by placing it from above using the slot. Push the front of the device until it audibly snaps into place.
- Avoid placing the switch near heat sources, sunlight, warm air exhausts, hot-air vents, and heaters.
- Ensure there is adequate airflow around the switch.
Connect to the Data Ports
Depending on the model, your switch may have the following ports:
- 10/100Base-TX Ports
- 100Base-FX Port
- WDM 100Base-BX Port
Connect Power
The power supply for the switch is via a DC terminal block power input with
a voltage range of 12-48VDC. Follow these steps:
- Connect the power input to the terminal block using appropriate wires.
- Connect the power ground to the GND terminal.
- Ensure proper earth grounding for safety.
During power-up, the switch will conduct a brief Power On Self-Test (POST), and the LEDs will indicate the status of each port.
Port Status LED Indicators
The switch is equipped with LED indicators to display port status:
- Steady LED: Indicates a network connection is established for 10/100TX or 100FX/BX ports.
- Flashing LED: Indicates transmitting or receiving data.
- Off LED: Indicates no transfer at 10Mbps.
7. DIN Rail Installation:
To assemble, start up, or dismantle the switch on the DIN rail,
follow these steps:
-
Assembly: Place the switch on the DIN rail
from above using the slot. Push the front of the switch until it
audibly snaps into place. -
Startup: Connect the supply voltage to the
terminal block to power up the switch. -
