User Manual

This is a portable solar panel that is plug-and-play and a perfect power solution to most personal electronic products when outdoors. The efficient Solar cells belong to physical batteries which is recyclable, different from chemistry which has a limited cycle life because of the lamination of the battery material itself. Even after 5 years, its power still can achieve more than 80%. To harvest the most possible clean energy, we suggest pairing it with our portable solar generator to save the extra solar energy (USB outing is for backing up external battery packs, 18V outing can power up laptops or solar generators. )

How to use
Place your solar panel to an area where you can get the most possible sunlight and adjust the angel to sun.

  • All four solar panels must be exposed to direct sunlight, avoid any possible shelters like building and trees .
  • Solar panels angled at 30-60 degrees from a flat surface will harvest the solar energy that is most possible.
  • If your panels must be adhere to other surface, you need to avoid the uneven or irregular su rface as they might bring a bit distortion after long time sunlight exposure. we can rescue it after a second long time exposure.
  • Please choose the sunny hours in a day(9:00 am to 5:00 pm)and panels operate at peak efficiency when the sun is most direct-typically around mid­day(am 12:00-1 :00 pm)

Build connection between the solar panel and your smart phones or iPad/Laptops
Steps: Check whether there is a charging indicator or not, if the indicator did light up, it means the output is ready for use.(Solar panels generate electricity when panels meet sunlight, so please protect them with clothes before you plug in a device.)

  • Plug in the cable to the input of your device first, then the other end of cable go towards the output of solar controller.
  • Remove the clothes and you will find a charging sign on your phone, if not, please build the connection again or replace another charging cable.
  • If there shows up a charging sign, you can place your device to a cool place for better heat dissipation and turn off your device to save the loss of energy during its running hours especially for laptops. (Note, you will also need to prepare an extra charging adapter for your laptops, make sure the female end is DC 5.5×2.1 mm)

Charging for mini solar generator

( The charging cable DC5525 to DC552 1 for charging our mini generator is included. Generator Model: AP-SS-002)

In the emergency case that we meet a starting problem, we can charge your 12 V battery directly with the alligator clip cable then restart your vehicles(Recommended charging time 2-3 hours only, for longer charging, we should pair with a solar regulator, if there is no regulation, the battery will be damaged from overcharging. Most batteries need around 14 to 14.SV volts to get fully charged .)

Warm Trips

  1. Please expose the panel to strong sunlight, the charging current is relatively small in cloudy days, so the charging takes much longer than usual time.
  2. Please do use the original charging cable or the cable provided by our company as some none branded data cable might bring up to 50% power loss.
  3. Do not use it to charge any devices in a unguarded car in hot sunny days as as the temperature inside might goes up to 60-70″C.
  4. iPhone/iPad requires a large charging current, please re-insert the cable to active the charging if there is a note”this device is not support.”

Maintenance

  • This solar panels is mainly for emergency charging purpose, we do not suggest a long time outdoor exposure as it may shorten the lifespan of this product. Not bendable, please handle the solar panel with care, and avoid hitting it with sharp objects or knocking heavily on it.
  •  If your panels must be adhere to other surface, you need to avoid the uneven or irregular surface as they might bring a bit distortion after long time sunlight exposure.(we can rescue it after a second long time exposure. )
  • It is normal that solar panels got hotter during working hours and please store them with the box after they become cool down.
  • Dirt and dust can accumulate on the surface over time, this can cause a general decrease of power output, we recommends periodic cleaning for panel with a mild, non-abrasive cleaning agent.

Frequently Asked Questions

ls it waterproof? Can it be used outdoors in a rainy day?

Answer: Raindrop is OK, but not waterproof. Solar panels is mainly for emergency purpose, we do not recommend a long-term outdoor exposure, as moisture of any kind may shorten the lifespan of the circuit board inside.

Do I need to watch out for over charging?

Answer: No, with multiple over-charging technology, it will automatically turn off when your device’s battery is full.

The input voltage and current is 20V3A, but the solar panel outputs at 18V3.3Amax., are they compatible, will it damage my laptop eventually?

Answer: Yes, it is OK for emergency charging purpose and your battery are safe. but for long-term use, we do suggest to charge your laptop from the AC socket of our solar generator (Model: AP-SS-002), it is same as charging from your wall sockets.

Will the output be different during hot sunny days and in cold weather?
Answer: The amount of daylight changes from season to season, but for temporary solar charging, it is essential to know that cold weather will not negatively affect the performance of solar panel as they run on light not heat. Based on tests, the standard test temperature for solar panel is 25 °C, the general output will decrease by 0.03% for every degree increase in temperature thereafter.
