GOAL ZERO YETI® INSTALLATION GUIDE

THESE INSTRUCTIONS CONTAIN IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR MODELS: YETI 1000X, YETI 1000 CORE, YETI 1500X, YETI 3000X, YETI 6000X

PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE INSTALLING UNIT INTO ANY VEHICLE TO PREVENT PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO THE UNIT.

WARNING!

DANGER! To reduce risk of explosion, do not install in machinery space or in areas where ignition protected equipment is required to be used.
CAUTION! This unit is NOT designed for weather exposed installation. To reduce risk of electrical shock and unit damage, do not expose to rain or spray.

FOR INDOORS USE ONLY!
The AC output is intended to be used with 15 Amp NEMA 5-15P plugs with no smaller than AWG #16 copper conductors.
Over current protection (AC breakers) have NOT been provided and must be provided by the installer / user. Listed 15A breakers per NEC requirements should be included in installation.

This unit has been provided with integral protections against overloads.

WARNING! To reduce risk of electric shock and fire:
Installation should be carried out by certified installer and as per Local and National Electrical Codes
Do not connect to circuit at more than 150 Volts to Ground
Do not connect directly to AC Load Center (Circuit Breaker Panel) having Multi-wire Branch Circuits connected
Do not mount in zero clearance compartments
Do not cover or obstruct ventilation openings

If the Goal Zero Yeti needs to be removed from the system, always remove the Ground terminal from the Goal Zero Yeti first. Make sure all accessories are off. Ensure the Yeti inverter is in the off position, so that you do not cause a spark.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION:

While the Goal Zero Yeti allows insertion of a normal 3-prong contact plug(NEMA 5-15P), the grounding pin of the plug will still be isolated from the Goal Zero yeti chassis unless there is a separate conductor tied to the vehicle chassis GND and the Goal Zero Yeti chassis (see fig 1).

As noted in Figure 1, it is also necessary to ensure a grounded connection into the GFCI.

ATTACH 8 AWG GROUNDING LEAD FROM YETI TO THE VEHICLE CHASSIS

At the bottom of each yeti where the rubber feet are attached, there is a hole in the middle of each foot allowing an M6 bolt to be threaded into placed.

FIG 1 ATTACH 8 AWG GROUNDING LEAD.JPG

STEP 1: ensure we have an AWG #8 copper conductor terminated with an M6 ring terminal.

FIG 2 ATTACH 8 AWG GROUNDING LEAD.JPG

STEP 2: Fit the ring terminal around a conductive M6 bolt, and thread bolt

into the foot of the Yeti.

FIG 3 ATTACH 8 AWG GROUNDING LEAD.JPG

STEP 3: Secure the opposite end of the AWG #8 cable to the conductive chassis GND on the vehicle.

GFCI INSTALLATION

STEP 1: Use UL listed GFCI. Examples are below:
Pass & Seymour 1595W
Leviton 7599-W
AutomationDirect FA-GFCI

STEP 2: use Ul listed 12/3 SJOOW cable to connect a UL listed NEMA 5-15P plug on one end, and the GFCI to the other. See diagram below:
