RAZOR® HD SPOTTING SCOPES
One look through the eyepiece and you know: This is how a spotting scope
should be. Setting the standard in high end optical technologies, precision
craftsmanship, and ultra-sleek functionality, the Razor® HD is one of the
finest scopes on the market. Advanced optical elements eliminate aberrations
for distortion-free, flat-field images with unmatched, edge-to-edge sharpness,
as well as remarkable clarity, resolution, and color accuracy. Hunters,
shooters, and outdoor enthusiasts who need a premium spotter that performs at
the highest level have found their match. There are three configurations –
13-39×56 or 22-48×65 or 27-60×85 – and each includes a custom-fitted case.
UNDERSTANDING YOUR RAZOR® HD SPOTTING SCOPE & INITIAL SETUP
Attach the Eyepiece (56mm)
Before attaching the Eyepiece, remove any covers that would interfere with
attaching the Eyepiece to the spotting scope body. Keep the exterior lens
covers handy to protect exposed lenses whenever you are not viewing through
the Razor® HD spotting scope.
- To attach the Eyepiece, locate the indexing hole on the bottom side of the eye piece (indicated by a white mark) and the pin on the body of the spotting scope. Set the Eyepiece on the body of the spotting scope, and ensuring that the pin is in the index hole.
- Rotate the Eyepiece Lock Ring clockwise until the Eyepiece is securely attached.
- To detach the eyepiece, rotate the Eyepiece Lock Ring on the Eyepiece counterclockwise until it is unthreaded all the way
Attach the Eyepiece (65mm and 85mm)
Before attaching the Eyepiece, remove any covers that would interfere with
attaching the Eyepiece to the spotting scope body. Keep the exterior lens
covers handy to protect exposed lenses whenever you are not viewing through
the Razor® HD spotting scope.
- To attach the Eyepiece, rotate the Eyepiece Lock Ring on the spotting scope counterclockwise until the unlock symbol matches the raised dot on the spotting scope body. Match the Magnification Indication Line on the Eyepiece with the raised bar on the Eyepiece Lock Ring and insert the Eyepiece into the spotting scope body. While applying downward pressure rotate the Eyepiece clockwise until the Magnification Indication Line matches up with the raised dot on the spotting scope body. Rotate the Eyepiece Lock Ring clockwise until the raised bar matches up with the raised dot on the spotting scope body.
- To detach the Eyepiece, rotate the Eyepiece Lock Ring on the spotting scope counterclockwise until the unlock symbol matches the raised dot on the spotting scope body. Rotate the Eyepiece counterclockwise until the Magnification Indicator Line matches up with the raised bar on the Eyepiece Lock Ring. Remove the Eyepiece from the scope body.
Mount the Razor® HD Spotting Scope
Attach the Razor® HD to a tripod or car window mount for stability. The Razor®
HD has an Arca-Swiss Compatible Tripod Mount Foot and will work without a
quick-release plate on any Arca-Swiss compatible tripod or car window mount.
The Razor® HD tripod foot will also attach to any tripod or car-window mount
that uses a 1/4”-20 thread pitch. Simply screw the compatible quick-release
plate into the bottom of the tripod foot.
The tripod foot is Arca-Swiss compatible, and will mount to any Arca-Swiss
tripod head without the use of additional plates. Or, attach any 1/4″-20
thread screw mount plate to use with other style tripods.
The tripod foot attaches to any tripod or car window mount that uses 1/4”-20 screw threads.
Adjust the Magnification (56mm)
Change your spotting scope’s magnification by simply turning the Magnification
Adjustment Ring:
- Increase the magnification by turning the Adjustment Ring in a clockwise direction.
- Decrease the magnification by turning the Adjustment Ring in a counterclockwise direction.
Adjust the Magnification (65mm and 85mm)
Change your spotting scope’s magnification by simply turning the Magnification
Adjustment Ring:
- Increase the magnification by turning the Adjustment Ring in a counterclockwise direction.
- Decrease the magnification by turning the Adjustment Ring in a clockwise direction.
Caution: Never look directly into the sun (or any other intense light)
with your Razor® HD spotting scope. This can permanently damage your eyes.
Adjust the Focus
- After setting the magnification, some refocusing is usually required. To adjust the focus, rotate the Helical Focus Dial until the image is in focus.
Adjust the Eyecup
The Adjustable Eyecup on the Razor® HD spotting scope twists up and down so
you can observe the full field of view. With a total of four different
positions, the Adjustable Eyecup will help with comfortable viewing for
differences in facial structure and for use with or without glasses. To adjust
the Eyecup down, spin clockwise. To adjust the Eyecup up, spin
counterclockwise.
Adjust the Viewing Angle (65mm and 85mm only)
The tripod mounting collar allows you to rotate the spotting scope body for
viewing flexibility.
- Turn the Thumbscrew counterclockwise to loosen the Mounting Collar.
- Rotate the spotting scope body to a comfortable viewing angle.
- Turn the Thumbscrew clockwise to secure the spotting scope’s position.
Extend the Sunshade (65mm and 85mm)
Extend the Sunshade to block out interfering stray light. The Sunshade also
shields the objective lens from damage and against precipitation.
MAINTENANCE
Cleaning
Your Razor® HD spotting scope requires very little routine maintenance other
than periodically cleaning the exterior lenses. The scope’s exterior may be
cleaned by wiping with a soft cloth. When cleaning the lenses, be sure to use
products that are specifically designed for use on coated optical lenses.
- Be sure to blow away any dust or grit on the lenses prior to wiping the surfaces.
- Using your breath, or a very small amount of water or pure alcohol can help remove stubborn dried water spots.
Lubrication
All spotting scope components are permanently lubricated, so no additional
lubricant should be applied.
Note: Other than to remove the Eyepiece or the Sunshade (56mm only), do not attempt to disassemble any spotting scope components. Disassembling of spotting scope may void warranty
Storage
If possible, avoid storing your scope in direct sunlight or any very hot
location for long periods of time.
