SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Read these instructions thoroughly before using the product.
Keep this instruction manual for future reference or new users.

  • All safety instructions must be closely followed when using the device.

  • Incorrect or improper use can be dangerous for both the appliance and the user.

  • This symbol means “Caution, Hot Surface”. The temperature of accessible surfaces may be high while the product is in use and could cause burns. Do not touch hot surfaces during operation or immediately after.

  • The appliance must not be used by children. Keep this device and its power cord out of their reach.

  • This appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be carried out by children.

  • Supervise children to prevent them from playing with the appliance. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is being used by or near children.

  • Switch off and unplug the appliance before changing accessories or related parts that move during use.

  • Unplug the appliance from the mains whenever unattended and before installation, dismantling, or cleaning.

  • Do not immerse the cord, plug, or any non-removable part of the appliance in water or any other liquid or expose electrical connections to water. Make sure your hands are dry before

  • handling the plug or switching on the appliance.

  • WARNING: the filling opening must not be opened during operation.

  • When filling the water tank, be careful to avoid spillage, especially on the cord and electrical parts of the appliance.

  • Ensure that the mains voltage matches the voltage specified on the product rating label and that the plug is earthed.

  • WARNING: never immerse the appliance in water. Do not touch the water!

  • Check the power cord regularly for visible damage. If the cord is damaged, it must be repaired by the official Cecotec Technical Support Service to avoid any type of danger.

  • WARNING: do not operate the product if its cord, plug, or body show visible damage, do not operate properly, or were damaged.

  • Do not twist, bend, pull, or damage the power cord. Protect it from sharp edges and heat sources. Do not allow the cord to touch hot surfaces. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the working surface or worktop.

  • The device is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.

  • Turn off and unplug the appliance from the mains supply when not in use and before cleaning it. Pull from the plug, not the cord, to disconnect it from the outlet.

  • This appliance is designed for domestic use only and is not intended for bars, restaurants, farmhouses, hotels, motels, and offices.

  • Do not use any accessory that has not been recommended by Cecotec, as they might cause injuries or damage.

  • Place the appliance on a dry, stable, flat, heat-resistant surface.

  • Do not use the appliance under the following circumstances:

  • On or near a gas or electric hob, in heated ovens, or near
    open flames.

  • On soft surfaces (such as carpets) or where it may tip over during use.

  • Outdoors or in areas with high humidity levels.

  • Do not cover the appliance while in use.

  • Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use. Unplug it from the power supply when you finish using it and before leaving the room.

  • Do not try to repair the product by yourself. Contact the official Cecotec Technical Support Service.

  • To ensure the correct operation of the device, cleaning and maintenance tasks must be carried out according to this instruction manual. Turn off and unplug the appliance before moving and cleaning it.

  • Do not wash the appliance in the dishwasher.

  • No liability is accepted for any eventual damage or personal injuries derived from misuse or non-compliance with this instruction manual.

BEFORE USE

  • This appliance is packaged in a way as to protect it during transport. Take the appliance out of its box and remove all packaging materials. You can keep the original box and other packaging elements in a safe place. This will help you prevent product damage when transporting it in the future. In case the original packaging is disposed of, make sure all packaging materials are recycled accordingly.
  • Make sure all parts and components are included and in good conditions. If there is any piece missing or in bad conditions, contact the official Cecotec Technical Support Service immediately.

First use

  • Pour water into the water tank, the water level should not exceed the “MAX” mark in the tank. Close the water-tank cover.
  • Connect the power cord of the coffee machine to the power supply and press the power button. The indicator light will turn on.
  • Press the manual control button to activate the water pump. The water pump will automatically start pumping water to the coffee machine to heat it up.
  • The machine will start heating up and the indicator light will start flashing until the preheating process is over. Once the appliance has reached its optimal temperature, the light will stop flashing.
  • Press the button to prepare a single coffee. Hot water will come out from the machine, use the water to clean filters or cups.

OPERATION

Making coffee

  • Place the filter in the portafilter.
  • While the appliance is preheating, fill the filter with coffee and use the tamper end of the measuring spoon to press it down.
  • Hold the portafilter, insert the filter holder into the machine and place an empty cup on the removable grille.
  • Press the espresso button to brew 1 single espresso.
  • Press the double espresso button to brew 1 double espresso.

These 2 previous functions can be customized. If you want to change the default coffee amount, do the following:

  1. Press the single or double espresso button. Once you have obtained the desired amount of drink, press the previous button again to stop the brewing process. Next time the button is pressed, the machine will dispense the new saved amount.
  2. Press the manual control button once to brew the desired amount of coffee and press the same button again to stop it.

Steam and froth function

  • Press the steam button. The indicator light will turn red and flash. Once the preheating process is over, the light will stop flashing.
  • Fill a small jug one third full with milk, insert the milk-frother nozzle and turn the steam knob carefully.

ATTENTION:

  • It is suggested to release some steam before frothing milk.
  • It is recommended to use cold whole milk for optimal results.
  • The milk frother angle can be adjusted.
  • Clean the steam outlet with a wet sponge immediately after use. Then, remove the milk frother and clean the duct interior part. It is also recommended to emit steam again to clean possible milk remaining inside the tube.

Hot water function

  • Press the power button, the indicator light will turn blue indicating that the machine is preheating. Once the light stops flashing, the machine is ready.
  • Turn the knob to the ON position, hot water will be dispensed. This hot water can be used for cleaning, warming cups, drinking, etc.
  • Turn the knob back to OFF to turn the machine off.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Unplug the coffee machine and wait for it to cool down before cleaning. Do not immerse the product in water or any other liquid during cleaning.
  • Failure to maintain the product in clean conditions could lead to surface deterioration and could adversely affect the product’s shelf life.
  • Never use strong detergents, petrol, abrasive powders, or a metal brush to clean any part of the product.
  • After frothing milk, use a dampened soft cloth to clean the milk frother and the nozzle, and allow some steam to come out to prevent the inside part from blocking due to dry milk.
  • A complete cleaning cycle is suggested every 3 months. Carry out the following steps:
  1. Fill up the water tank, add a commercial descale according to the proportions suggested by the manufacturer, and carry out a full cleaning cycle.
  2. Repeat the before step again only with water to rinse the machine’s inside and remove all the cleaning product residue.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If you experience any problem with the appliance or you think it does not work properly, you can carry out a few simple checks before calling the official Cerotic Customer Service

Problem Possible causes Possible solutions
Coffee does not come out. No water in tank. Coffee grind is too fine. There

is too much coffee in the filter. The device is not turned on or connected to the power supply. Coffee has been tamped/ compressed too much. No coffee comes out and/or there’s no pressure| Add water. Grind medium-ground coffee. Fill filter with less coffee. Connect the unit to a power supply and turn it on. Refill the filter basket with coffee, do not tamp too much. Carry out a full descaling of the device.
Coffee comes out around the edge of the portafilter.| Portafilter not rotated to full lock position. There is ground coffee on the edge of the filter. There is too much coffee in the filter| Rotate filter holder to full lock position. Wipe off the rim. Fill with less coffee.
Coffee comes out too quickly| Ground coffee is too coarse. Not enough coffee in filter. Coffee is not properly tamped.| Use a finer grind. Use more coffee. Fill the filter with coffee and tamp it harder.

WARNING
Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. If the problem persists after the checks explained, contact a qualified electrician, authorised personnel, the store where you purchased the product, or the official Customer Service of Cecotec.
