Product Information

The ArcticVent-HT is an advanced product designed for heat tube vent freeze protection. It is available in two lengths: 24 inches (ATV-30-24-01) and 42 inches (ATV-30-42-01). The vent pipe size is 3 inches and it is compatible with ABS and PVC pipes. The product is designed to interface directly with a 3 ABS and PVC vent. The ArcticVent-HT is made of a durable outer heat tube casing and includes a plumbing adapter. It is designed to withstand working ambient temperatures ranging from -58F (-50C) to 194F (90C). The product should not be exposed to temperatures above 194F (90C) to prevent damage. The kit includes the Arctic-Vent-HT, the heated plumbing vent, along optional accessories such as the INSUL-3.00 closed cell polyethylene insulation sleeve for 3 pipes (6 inches wide, 10 feet long).

Installation Instructions

Description

  • ArcticVent-HT is a non-electric, non-hydronic plumbing vent freeze protection system that employs a proprietary heat tube technology that transfers warm energy from the inside lower vent pipe to the upper vent rim using special refrigerants and capillary processes.
  • The ArcticVent-HT heat tube simply slides into existing 3-inch plumbing ABS and PVC vent stacks without their removal.
  • No adhesives or solvents are required.
  • The connection is intentionally designed to be detachable, allowing the ArcticVent-HT to remain serviceable.
  • Prolonged cold temperatures cause plumbing vent stacks to ice up and form a blockage as warm moist air rises, condenses, and freezes. ArcticVent-HT eliminates this ice blockage where it exits the roof of a building promoting healthier living conditions.
    • Never cut, drill or alter this product in any manner.
    • Designed for working ambient temperatures ranging from -58F (-50C) to 194F (90C).
  • The ArcticVent-HT is a technically advanced product. Handle it with proper care and be sure not to damage the outer surface of the heat tube.
  • Read the Safety Instructions and Installation Instructions completely before installing this product.
  • For technical support call Heat-Line Freeze Protection Systems at 1-800-584-4944.
  • This product must be installed in accordance with governing plumbing and building authorities.

ArcticVent-HT 24″ Installation

  • For the ArcticVent-HT to fit securely onto the existing vent pipe, it is crucial that the vent pipe extends at least 3 inches above the flashing.

  • To ensure optimal performance, the height of the existing vent pipe cannot exceed 10 inches. Adhere to all local building and plumbing codes, you must comply with their specific requirements.

    • Note: The greater the length of the ArcticVent-HT inserted below the roof line, the greater performance.heat-line-ArcticVent-HT-Advanced-Heat-Tube-Vent-Freeze-Protection-FIG-1 \(2\)
  • To properly install the ArcticVent-HT, it is critical to ensure that the entire length of the ArcticVent-HT heat tube can be inserted into the existing vent pipe without any obstructions.

  • Verify that there are no fittings or blockages within the vent pipe for the first 26 inches that could impede the passage of the ArcticVent-HT.

  • In a controlled manner guide the ArcticVent-HT downwards into the vent pipe.

  • Ensure alignment of the ArcticVent-HT adapter and vent pipe, and then with consistent and controlled force push the adapter down over the vent to obtain a snug and firm connection.

  • Apply insulation to fully cover the entire exposed length of both the vent pipe and ArcticVent-HT (optional, but highly recommended). It may be necessary to trim the insulation sleeve to the appropriate length, as each exposed section of the vent pipe can vary in height.

  • If accessible, it is recommended to apply insulation to the exposed section of the vent pipe within the unheated attic space.

    • Note: Insulation will enhance performance in extreme cold and wind chill. It is highly recommended.
