TRP 30 Foliage Shredder
Product Information:
The product is a foliage shredder or grass chopper manufactured
by Trapp. It comes in different models, including TRP 30, TRP 40,
TRP 40G, TRP 400E, and TRP 400G. The product is designed for
shredding and chopping grass and foliage.
The power and specifications of each model are as follows:
- TRP 30: Power – 1-1.25 cv (50 Hz), 1.5 cv (60 Hz)
- TRP 40: Power – 1-1.25 cv (50 Hz), 1.5 cv (60 Hz)
- TRP 40G: Power – 2.5 cv
- TRP 400E: Power – 5-5.5 cv
- TRP 400G: Power – 6.5-7.0 cv
The product operates on different voltages depending on the
model, including 127 V and 220 V. It uses gasoline as fuel and
requires regular maintenance.
Product Usage Instructions:

Before operating the equipment, read all the instructions in
the manual and follow the safety guidelines to prevent accidents

Make sure to disconnect the foliage shredder before moving away
from it. -
Do not connect the shredder with the feeder open.

Follow the recommended rotation direction for each model:
clockwise for TRP-400E and TRP-400G, counterclockwise for TRP-30/40
and TRP-40G. -
Do not use the fuel primer.

Ensure that only authorized and familiarized users operate the
equipment. -
Use the equipment according to the instructions in the manual,
considering the working conditions and the service to be
performed. -
Avoid inserting hands into the green funnel.

Bienvenido!
Muchas gracias por la adquisición de más un producto de calidad, desarrollado
con la más alta tecnología TRAPP. Este equipo va a proporcionarle rapidez y
eficiencia en sus trabajos, con economía y total seguridad. Para eso, algunos
cuidados especiales deben ser observados. Las instrucciones de seguridad
presentadas en este manual de insstrucciones son extremamente importantes,
pero no comprenden todas las posibles condiciones y situaciones que podrán
ocurrir. El operador debe fijarse que prudencia, atención y cuidado no son
factores que puedan ser incorporados al producto, pero son calidades que uno
debe tener durante el manoseo y al hacer el mantenimiento del equipo.
Recomendaciones Importantes
¡Atención!
Lea todas las instrucciones contenidas en este manual antes de operar el
equipamiento, siempre observando las indicaciones de seguridad y siguiendo las
instrucciones para prevenir accidentes y/o heridas.
Lea y guarde estas instrucciones
Al utilizar el triturador/picador, respete siempre las precauciones básicas de
seguridad para reducir los riesgos, de la siguiente manera:
1 – Área de trabajo
No opere el equipamiento cerca de atmósfera explosiva, ni donde haya líquidos
inflamables, gases y/o polvo en suspensión. La instalación eléctrica del
equipamiento produce centellas que pueden iniciar la combustión de líquidos
inflamables, gases o polvo en suspensión.
Mantenga niños y espectadores alejados. Cuando el equipamiento esté en
utilización, todas las personas, especialmente niños, deben permanecer a una
distancia segura del área de trabajo. El operador/ usuario es responsable por
eventuales accidentes que puedan ocurrir.
Nunca deje el motor funcionando en ambientes cerrados o sin ventilación. El
gas del escape (TRP 40G y TRP 400G) contiene monóxido de carbono, un gas
inodoro y letal.
2 – Seguridad eléctrica
No exponga el equipamiento a lluvia o humedad. Instale el equipamiento en un
lugar seco y protegido de la intemperie. El agua dentro del equipamiento puede
damnificar los circuitos eléctricos del motor, además de aumentar el riesgo de
descarga eléctrica.
Asegúrese de que la tensión eléctrica de su hogar coincide con la del
triturador/picadora antes de instalarlo. La conexión en una tensión eléctrica
diferente ocasiona quema inmediata del motor y la consecuente pérdida de la
garantía, al encender un motor eléctrico.
Para su seguridad, realice la conexión a tierra del equipamiento (al utilizar
un motor eléctrico). La falta de la conexión a tierra puede resultar en
accidentes, choque eléctrico u otros daños personales.

3 – Seguridad personal
Manténgase alerta, quede atento con lo que está aconteciendo y use el buen
sentido cuando esté operando. No opere el equipamiento cuando esté cansado,
distraído o bajo la influencia de drogas, bebidas alcohólicas o medicamentos.
Un momento de falta de atención puede resultar en un serio riesgo de heridas.
No se aleje del triturador/picadora sin antes desconecarlo.
No conecte el triturador/picadora con el alimentador abierto.
Utilice equipamientos de seguridad. Use siempre las gafas de seguridad. Usando
equipamientos de seguridad como guantes, zapatos, protección para los oídos,
usted aumenta su seguridad y reduce el riesgo de accidentes.
Vístase de manera adecuada. No use ropas sueltas o joyas.
Prevéngase contra el funcionamiento accidental. Asegúrese de que la llave
eléctrica (al utilizar un motor eléctrico) esté en la posición “desconectada”
antes de colocar el enchufe en la toma de corriente. Conectar el enchufe en la
toma de corriente con la llave eléctrica en la posición “conectada” puede
causar un grave accidente.
Remueva cualquier objeto antes de conectar el equipamiento. Una herramienta o
cualquier otro objeto preso en las partes móviles del equipamiento puede
resultar en heridas.
4 – Utilización y cuidados
No fuerce el equipamiento. Utilícelo de forma correcta y para las aplicaciones
descritas en este manual, obteniendo así mayor desempeño y seguridad en su
trabajo.
No triture piedras, vidrios, metales, plásticos, depósitos de productos
químicos (perfumería, limpieza, tintas, etc.) u otros productos que
damnifiquen el triturador/picadora.
En el caso de que el triturador/picadora no desarrolle la potencia necesaria,
contacte un asistente técnico TRAPP o con un electricista de su confianza para
verificar las condiciones eléctricas de su red, evitando así, la quema del
motor por sobrecarga.
Si, al accionar el triturador/picadora, el motor no arranca (está cerrado),
desconéctelo inmediatamente.
Asegúrese de que las cuchillas giren en el siguiente sentido:
O Horario: TRP-400E y TRP-400G.
O Antihorario: TRP-30/40 y TRP-40G.
Si no giran en el sentido especificado, póngase en contacto con un asistente
técnico TRAPP o un electricista de confianza para invertir el sentido de
rotación del motor.
No utilice el equipo si la llave eléctrica no funciona. El equipamiento no
puede ser controlado si la llave eléctrica estuviera dañada. Llave eléctrica
con defecto deberá ser reparada inmediatamente.
Apague el disyuntor, retire los fusibles, desconecte el enchufe del
tomacorrientes o el cable de la bujía del motor antes de realizar cualquier
ajuste o cambio de láminas de corte y accesorios. Esas medidas preventivas de
seguridad reducen el riesgo de funcionamiento accidental del equipamiento.
Nunca guarde el equipo con gasolina en el tanque, en el caso de los motores a
gasolina. Y si es necesario, mantenga el motor operando hasta que ocurra la
desconexión por la falta de combustible.
Reparaciones deben ser hechas por técnicos autorizados.
Conserve su equipamiento. Verifique con frecuencia si las partes móviles están
fijas, si algún componente está dañado o cualquier otra condición que pueda
afectar su buen funcionamiento. Si hubiere algún problema, haga la reparación
antes de usar el equipamiento. Muchos accidentes son causados por la falta de
mantenimiento adecuado.
Mantenga la lámina de corte afilada y limpia.
Las cuchillas continúan en movimiento después de que el equipamiento es
desconectado. Por lo tanto, quede atento a eso cuando hiciere cualquier tipo
de mantenimiento.
Nota: No utilice el cebador de combustible
una vez que el motor esté caliente (para motores a gasolina).

Nota: De acuerdo con la norma brasilera
NBR 5410, se volvió obligatorio la instalación de un dispositivo de protección
a la corriente diferencial-residual (dispositivo DR) en las instalaciones
eléctricas residenciales. La función del dispositivo “DR” es proteger al
usuario contra los graves riesgos de choque eléctrico (consulte un
electricista).
5- Servicio
Las reparaciones del equipamiento solo deben ser realizadas por profesionales
especializados y con piezas originales TRAPP. Use siempre los servicios de los
Asistentes Técnicos Autorizados TRAPP. TRAPP no se responsabiliza por
eventuales accidentes o daños ocurridos debido a la utilización de piezas no
originales.
Instrucciones Adicionales de Seguridad y Operación
Verifique si el tensíon de la máquina es el mismo de la red eléctrica (para
motores eléctricos).
Lea atentamente las instrucciones y procure familiarizarse con los controles y
el uso adecuado del equipamiento.
Recuerde que el operador o usuario es responsable por cualquier accidente o
daño, involucrando terceros o sus propiedades.
Evite operar el equipamiento en lugar húmedo.
Utilice el equipamiento con buena iluminación.
Antes de introducir cualquier tipo de forraje, accione el motor e espere que
el mismo alcance la rotación máxima.
No introduzca nada en el equipamiento con el motor desconectado.
No utilice el equipamiento en periodos que ocurren cortes de energía eléctrica
(para motores eléctricos).
Si el equipamiento comienza a vibrar, apáguelo. Verifique pronto la causa de
esta vibración, pues esta indica que el equipamiento necesita de ajustes o
reparaciones.
¡Atención!
Verifique frecuentemente si todos los tornillos están bien fijados,
principalmente el de la contra-cuchilla. Mantenga la contra-cuchilla siempre
regulada para garantizar un buen desempeño del triturador/picadora.
Verifique el estado del cable de alimentación y nunca lo repare con cinta
aislante (para motor eléctrico.
Nunca utilice chorro de agua para limpiar el equipamiento, use un paño
humedecido y detergente neutro. El agua dentro del equipamiento puede
damnificar los circuitos eléctricos del motor, además de aumentar el riesgo de
descarga eléctrica.
Nunca opere el triturador/picadora con la tapa abierta o sin protección de la
correa.
No permita que personas no familiarizadas utilicen el equipamiento. El
equipamiento puede volverse peligroso en las manos de usuarios no
familiarizados con el funcionamiento.
Utilice el equipamiento de acuerdo con las instrucciones contenidas en este
manual, considerando las condiciones de trabajo y el servicio a ser ejecutado.
Limpie frecuentemente el triturador/picador para evitar la acumulación de
residuos, especialmente en el centro del disco y al utilizar materiales más
secos.
La utilización del equipamiento para servicios no contenidos en este manual
puede resultar en situaciones de peligro.
El triturador/picadora TRP 40G y TRP 400G está equipada con motor a explosión
4 tiempos – No utiliza aceite en la gasolina.
El motor a gasolina viene de fábrica sin aceite ni combustible.

Reposición de piezas – Utilice siempre piezas de reposición y servicios de
mantenimiento de asistentes técnicos TRAPP.
No introduzca la mano dentro del embudo del verde.

Montaje de la Tolva de Alimentación
Coloque el Embudo de Alimentación (4) en la máquina con la arandela lisa (3),
la arandela de presión (2) y la tuerca (1). Ajuste la posición del embudo
según la apertura en el cuerpo del triturador y, a continuación, realice el
ajuste según el torque indicado en la tabla de la página 16. El ajuste
correcto del embudo contribuye al buen funcionamiento del triturador.

Qué Usted Puede Triturar
Picador para cualquier tipo de forraje, para la preparación del suplemento
alimentario animal, pudiendo ser: caña de azúcar, sorgo, maíz verde, ramas de
mandioca y pastajes de las más variadas especies, destinados a pienso.
Funcionamiento
1. Divida el material en porciones antes de triturar, certificándose de que
ninguno contenga objetos no triturables como piedras, vidrios, entre otros.
Elija la dirección en la cual desea que se lance el material.
2. Accione el motor. 3. Sujete el mazo firmemente y con las dos manos,
introdúzcalo dentro del alimentador, empujando hasta
sentir que el material está siendo tirado. 4. No exceda la alimentación del
triturador para no sobrecargar el motor.

Reaprietos
Al tratarse de un equipo que sufre constantes vibraciones, promovidas por los impactos de los productos triturados o picados, la tendencia natural es que, con el paso del tiempo, los tornillos se aflojen. Por eso, deben verificarse periódicamente y, de ser necesario, volver a ajustar todos los tornillos. Pero se debe tener mucho cuidado para no deformar los tornillos con apretones exagerados.
¡Atención!
Todo mantenimiento o limpieza debe ser hecha con el equipamiento desconectado
de la red eléctrica.

multiplicar el diámetro de la polea
de la picadora por la rotación de la picadora, conforme indicado en la tabla
arriba, y dividir por la rotación especificada en la placa del motor a ser
usado.

Instalación del Motor
Eléctrico
Los trituradores/picadoras TRAPP, monofásicos o trifásicos, son montados con
motores de una única tensión (127 o 220 V) o de doble tensión (127 y 220 V).
Los modelos de motor de doble tensión permiten elegir la tensión deseada según
la red eléctrica.
Para efectuar la correcta conexión, sedeben observar los datos indicados en la
plaqueta del motor y la numeración impresa en el propio aislamiento de los
cables eléctricos.
Para trituradores/picadoras comercializados sin motor, la selección de la
potencia mínima debe obedecer los datos técnicos presentados en la pág. 7.
¡Atención!
Antes de efectuar cualquier tipo de conexión, asegúrese de que la red
eléctrica esté desconectada.
1. Asegúrese de que la red eléctrica, donde será instalada la
trituradora/picadora, sea compatible con los datos que constan en la placa del
motor.
2. Desconecte la red eléctrica para efectuar las conexiones del motor.
3. Haga las conexiones presentadas conforme la tensión de la red eléctrica.
4. Para proteger la conexión, utilice terminales de conexión en las
conexiones realizadas.
5. Asegúrese de que las conexiones estén bien aisladas.
6. Conecte a la red eléctrica y verifique el sentido de la rotación del
motor.
7. Si es necesario invertir la rotación del motor, observe la indicación en
el motor para tal finalidad.

Gasolina
Asegúrese de que el motor tenga el aceite del cárter en el nivel adecuado.
Compruebe que el tanque de combustible esté lleno de gasolina común y que la
válvula de combustible (1) esté abierta.

Deje que el motor caliente durante algunos minutos y regrese la palanca del
estrangulador a la posición inicial.
Accione la palanca del acelerador (4) para alcanzar la velocidad máxima y
comenzar el trabajo.
Para apagar el motor, cierre la válvula de combustible (1) y permita que el
motor funcione hasta que se consuma todo el combustible en el carburador. Tan
pronto como el motor se apague por falta de combustible, apague el interruptor
de encendido (2).
Apagar el motor de esta manera hace que sea más fácil arrancarlo cuando lo
vuelve a encender. Para obtener más información sobre el motor, consulte el
manual del motor o póngase en contacto con un servicio de Asistencia Técnica
Autorizado TRAPP.
Encienda el botón de encendido del motor (2) y active la palanca del
estrangulador (3) y mueva la palanca del acelerador (4) hacia el conejo.
Estire levemente el cordón de arranque retráctil (5) hasta encontrar
resistencia, luego estírelo bruscamente. Repita esta operación hasta que el
motor arranque. Afloje el cordón de la partida retráctil lentamente para no
dañar la protección del motor.
Para apagar rápidamente el motor en caso de emergencia, apague la llave de
encendido (2).
Obs.: Para demás informaciones sobre funcionamiento, consulte el manual del
motor.
Instrucciones de Operación
Verificaciones:
Antes de colocar el triturador/picadora en operación se debe verificar:
Si no hay herramientas u objetos sobre el motor o sobre el equipamiento,
principalmente dentro del embudo de los granos o del verde.
Si no hay nada trancando el motor.
Si el sentido de rotación está correcto.
Si la tensión de la red eléctrica coincide con la del equipamiento.
Si no hay personas u objetos próximos a las poleas y correas.
Si la tapa del triturador/picadora está correctamente cerrada.
Si la contra-cuchilla está debidamente regulada y fija (pág. 13).
Nota: Si el equipamiento está debidamente
preparado accione el motor, aguarde hasta alcanzar la rotación máxima e inicie
el trabajo.

Antes de encender el motor, verifique que la palanca (1) del tensor de la
correa esté en la posición de descanso, como en la Figura A. Una vez que el
motor esté encendido y alcance la rotación máxima, accione lentamente la
palanca (1) del tensor de la correa, como en la Figura B. Si acciona el tensor
de la correa y nota que el disco de la máquina no está girando, apague el
motor y verifique las correas según las indicaciones de la página 14.

Apoyo de Goma
Los apoyos de caucho (1) son suministrados desmontados, para montar los apoyos (1), retire las tuercas (2) y las arandelas (3) del tornillo y móntelos en los huecos localizados en la base del caballete (4) de la máquina. Enseguida, monte las arandelas y la tuerca y dé un apriete leve, conforme Figura C.
Nota: No fije la máquina en el piso, deje la
misma suelta con todos los pies colocados en una base nivelada y con los
apoyos de caucho para absorber la vibración del equipo. Fijar la máquina en el
piso lleva a la pérdida e la garantía.

Instrucciones de Mantenimiento
Contracuchilla
Reaprietos periódicos, como el ajuste en la contracuchilla, son
indispensables. La regulación se realiza al aflojar la tuerca hexagonal (1),
como se muestra en la Figura 1, y al desplazar la contracuchilla hasta que las
cuchillas que queden a una distancia de aproximadamente 1,5 mm para el TRP 30
y el TRP 40, 2,0 mm para el TRP 40G y de 4,0 mm para el TRP 400 (Figura 2). La
contracuchilla debe ser sustituida cuando presente señales de desgaste.

El afilado de las Cuchillas
Los trituradores/picadores TRAPP vienen de fábrica con las cuchillas
templadas. El tiempo de afilado puede variar según el material por
triturar/picar. El afilado de las cuchillas debe ocurrir cuando se note que el
filo de corte (arista) esté gasto. Afile apenas el lado indicado de la
cuchilla (Figura
3), procurando mantener la inclinación original. Siempre al afilar, tome
cuidado de retirar la misma cantidad de material en cada cuchilla, para no
perjudicar el balance del conjunto del disco
y causar consecuentemente, vibraciones. Las
cuchillas deberán ser sustituidas siempre que no posibiliten más un perfecto
afilado o no alcanzar la medida de la cuchilla y la contracuchilla.

Para quitar la protección de la correa y acceder a las mismas, mueva la
palanca del tensor de correa a la posición de descanso y siga estas
instrucciones:

Afloje la palanca (1) y la arandela lisa (2) fijadas en el gancho (3), abra la
tapa (4) para acceder a las láminas y al disco.
Con la tapa (4) abierta, afloje los tornillos (5) y la arandela de presión (6)
y quite la cuchilla (7) si necesita afilar o cambiar la lámina de corte.
Al finalizar, monte las cuchillas en la posición correcta y vuelva a ajustar
los tornillos según el torque recomendado en la página 16.
Siempre que realice este tipo de mantenimiento, debe desconectarse la máquina
de la red eléctrica y el disco de corte debe estar detenido.
Es importante utilizar guantes para evitar cortarse las manos con las láminas
de corte de las cuchillas.

Abastecimiento – TRP 40G y TRP 400G
Evite utilizar combustible almacenado por más de 7 días, pues esto causa mal
funcionamiento, disminuyendo la vida útil del motor.
Abastezca el depósito con cuidado para no derramar combustible. Abastezca
solamente con gasolina común.
Observe la cantidad del tanque de combustible, cantidad y tipo de aceite del
carter (vea “Datos Técnicos”).
¡Atención!
Cuidado: Combustible es altamente inflamable. Cierre el depósito, apretando
bien la
tapa para evitar pérdidas. Nunca abastezca el depósito con el
motor en marcha. Apague el motor antes de retirar la tapa
del depósito de combustible.
No se recomienda abastecer el tanque de combustible con el motor caliente.

Cambio de Aceite – TRP 40G y TRP 400G
El primer cambio de aceite debe suceder dentro de las primeras 5 horas de uso
del motor. Para realizar el cambio de aceite proceda de la siguiente manera:
1. Ponga el triturador sobre una superficie plana y nivelada.
2. El aceite será drenado con mayor facilidad si está caliente.
3. Recoja el aceite usado en un recipiente adecuado y use lentes y guantes
apropiados durante el cambio de aceite.
4. Abra el tapón (1) de drenaje de aceite para escurrir el aceite del motor.
Remueva la tapa de inspección de aceite (2) para facilitar la salida de todo
el aceite del motor.
5. Cuando el aceite sea completamente drenado, atornille de nuevo el tapón
del aceite (1).
6. Remueva la tapa (2) y agregue tanto aceite como sea necesario, luego
cierre la tapa (2).
7. Verifique el nivel de aceite con la tapa de inspección (2). Para hacer una
lectura exacta, con el motor nivelado, asegúrese de que el aceite haya
alcanzado el inicio de la rosca que se atornilla a la tapa de inspección, éste
es el nivel correcto.

¡Atención!
Al cambiar el aceite, aun con el motor caliente, tenga cuidado al quitar el
tapón del aceite, porque el aceite por estar caliente, sale con más presión,
pudiendo causar accidentes, como quemaduras.
No deseche recipientes de aceite o aceite del motor desechado en contenedores
de basura común o en el suelo, siga las instrucciones del fabricante del
aceite para su eliminación adecuada.

Observación:
Revise el nivel del aceite del motor con frecuencia, para evitar posibles
daños causados por el bajo nivel de aceite.
Filtro de Aire – TRP 40G y TRP 400G
¡Atención!
Todo mantenimiento o limpieza deberá ser hecho con el equipo apagado y con el
cable de la bujía desconectado.
El filtro de aire debe esté siempre limpio para el perfecto funcionamiento del
motor.
La obstrucción del elemento filtrante por falta de limpieza trae serios
problemas de funcionamiento al motor, entre ellos la pérdida de potencia y
daños al cilindro, pistón y anillos de segmento.
Filtro de aire – espuma
Sumerja y apriete (no tuerza) en solución de agua y detergente neutro
retirando toda la suciedad.
Seque, enrollando y presionando en paño limpio (no tuerza).

Humedezca levemente el filtro con aceite limpio
(20W-50) siempre presionando para distribuir el
aceite de forma equitativa, retirando el exceso. De ser necesario, cambie el
filtro por uno nuevo.

Pase aire comprimido desde adentro hacia fuera del filtro o golpeando
levemente su base contra una superficie plana. De ser necesario, cambie el
filtro por uno nuevo.

La Metalúrgica TRAPP Ltda. garantiza este producto contra defectos de
fabricación por el plazo de 12 (doce) meses, contados a partir de la fecha de
emisión de la Factura de Compra.
En el plazo de garantía establecido en el párrafo anterior, ya está incluida
la garantía legal, estando dividida así:
Los 3 (tres) primeros meses garantía legal.
Los 9 (nueve) meses siguientes garantía especial, concedida pela Metalúrgica

La garantía legal/especial no cubre:
Defectos causados por uso inadecuado como falta de lubricación (falta de
aceite), uso de mezclas en la gasolina o en el aceite, exceso de aceite en el

causadas por descuidos en el transporte, almacenamiento, servicios normales de
mantenimiento preventivo como: sincronización del motor y ajustes de

by TRAPP. This product was designed to work quickly and efficiently, providing
total safety, at low cost. Safety measures should be followed to operate this
equipment. The safety measures stated in this operating instructions do not
cover all possible situations which may occur during usage. The operator must
be aware that good sense, attention, and precautions cannot be incorporated
into the product, therefore caution should be taken when operating and
servicing TRAPP shredders.

When using the crusher/chopper, always follow the basic safety precautions to
reduce risks, as follows:
1 – Working area
Do neither use the equipment near explosive environments nor near flammable
liquids, gases and/or dust under suspension. The equipment electrical
installation produces sparks that may ignite flammable liquids, gases or dust
under suspension.
Keep children and away. People, especially children, must remain at a safe
distance from the working area when the equipment is being used. The operator/
user is responsible for accidents that may occur.
Never leave the engine running in closed rooms or non-ventilated places. The
exhaust gas (TRP 40G and TRP 400G) contain carbon monoxide, a lethal and
inodorous gas.
2 – Electrical safety
Do not expose the equipment to either rain or humidity. Install the equipment
in a dry place, protected from weather conditions. Water inside the equipment
can damage the electric circuit of the motor, besides increasing the risk of
an electric shock.
Before installing your, make sure the electrical voltage in your property
coincide with the electric motor. Connecting electrical cables in a different
voltage will cause immediate motor burnout resulting in a loss of warranty,
when turning on an electric engine.
For your safety, ground the equipment (when using an electric engine). Failure
to do so may result in an accident, electrical shock or personal injury.

3 – Personal safety
Beware with what is going on and use common sense when operating the
equipment. Do not use it when you are tired, distracted or under the influence
of drugs, alcohol or medicine. A slight distraction may result in a serious
injury.
Do not leave shredder running and/or unattended.
Do not turn on shredder if feeding funel is open.
Wear protection equipment. Always wear goggles. Wearing protection equipment
like gloves, shoes, and ear plugs increases your protection and reduces the
risk of an accident.
Wear proper clothes. Wear neither loose clothes nor jewelry.
Take precautions against accidental running. Make sure the switch (when using
an electric engine) is set to “off” before plugging the equipment in. Failure
to do so may cause a serious accident.
Remove all objects before turning on the equipment. A tool or any other object
stuck in the movable parts of the equipment may result in an injury.
4 – Use and care
Do not overuse the equipment. Use it in the right way and for the purposes
described in this manual for better performance and safety while working.
Do not grind rock, glass, metals, plastics, chemical products or other items
that can damage the shredder mill.
Should the shredder not achieve its full power capacity, contact service
dealer or an electrician to verify the condition of your electric power source
to avoid motor burn-out by overload.
If after turning on shredder, motor does not start, turn off immediately.
Make sure that the blades are turning in the following direction:
O Clockwise: TRP-400E and TRP-400G.
O Counter-clockwise: TRP-30/40 and TRP-40G.
If they are not turning in the specified direction, contact a TRAPP technical
assistant or an electrician you trust to reverse the engine rotation
direction.
Do not use the equipment if the electric switch is not working. The equipment
can not be controlled if the on/off switch is damaged. A defective switch
shall be immediately repaired.
Turn off the circuit breaker, remove the fuses, pull the plug out of the
outlet or remove the spark plug from the engine before making any adjustments
or changing the cutting blade and accessories. These safety preventive
measures reduce the risk of accidental operation of the equipment.
Never store the equipment with gasoline in the tank, for gasoline-powered
engines. If necessary, keep the engine running until it turns off due to lack
of gasoline.
Fixing must be executed by authorized technicians.
Preserve your equipment. Frequently check if the movable parts are fixed, if
any component is damaged or check for any other condition that may affect its
optimum operation. Shall any problem arise, fix it before using the equipment.
Many accidents are caused by lack of proper maintenance.
Keep the cutting blade sharp and clean.
The blades keeps moving after the equipment is switched off. Therefore be
aware of that when servicing.
Note: Do not use the fuel choke when the
engine is already hot (for gasoline engines).
Note: According to the Brazilian standard
NBR 5410, it is compulsory to install a device to protect against residual
differential current (DR device) in the electrical installation of your
residence. The function of the “DR” is to protect the user against serious
electrical shock risk (consult an electrician).
5- Service
Call qualified professionals to service the equipment. Use original parts
only. Always call TRAPP Authorized Service Technicians. TRAPP is not
responsible for occasional accidents caused by the use of spare parts that are
not original.

Additional Safety and Operation Instructions
Make sure the voltage of the power source is the same of that of the equipment
(for electric engines).
Carefully read instructions and get familiar with the controls and proper used
of the equipment.
Remember that the operator or user is responsible for any accident or damage
involving people or their properties.
Avoid operating the equipment in humid places.
Use the equipment in a well lit environment.
Before feeding any kind of foliage, start the motor and wait for it to reach
maximum revolution.
Do not introduce anything in the equipment with the motor off.
Do not use the equipment during periods of power supply failure (for electric
engines).
If the equipment starts to vibrate, turn it off. Check the cause of the
vibration as it indicates that the equipment needs adjustment and repair.
Attention!
Frequently check if all screws are well tightened, mainly the counter cutting
blade one. Always keep the counter cutting blade adjusted to assure the good
performance of the shredder.
Never operate the shredder with the cover open or without the belt protection
guard.
Do not allow people that are not familiarized with the equipment to use it.
The equipment may become dangerous in the hands of people not familiar with
its operation.
Use the equipment according to the instructions in this manual. Take in
consideration the working conditions and the service to be done.
Clean the crusher/chopper often to prevent residue build-up, especially in the
middle of the disc and when using drier material.
Using the equipment for activities not covered in this manual may result in
dangerous situations.
The shredder TRP 40G and TRP 400G is equipped with a four-cycle explosion
motor – It does not use oil mixed with the gasoline.
The gasoline-powered engine leaves the plant without oil and without fuel.
Spare parts – Always call TRAPP technicians for spare parts and maintenance
services.
Do not put your hand inside of the foliage funnel.
Check the status of the power supply cord. Never fix it with insulating tape
(for electric engine).
Never use a water jet to clean the equipment. Use a damp cloth and detergent
neutral. Water inside the equipment can damage the electric circuit of the
motor, besides increasing the risk of an electric shock.

Feeding Funnel Assembly
Secure the Feed Funnel (4) to the machine using the plain washer (3), spring
washer (2) and nut (1). Adjust the funnel position according to the opening on
the crusher body and then tighten it to the torque indicated in the torque
table on page 34. Closing the funnel well contributes to smooth operation of
the crusher.

What you can Shred
A shredding system for any kind of material for the preparation of animal fodder, which may be: sugar cane, sorghum, corn, cassava branches and various species of grass meant for animal feed.
Operation
1. Divide the material into portions before shredding; make sure that the
bulk contains no non-crushable objects such as stones, or glass, among others.
Select the direction you want the material to be released.
2. Start the motor.
3. Grasp the wad firmly with both hands and insert it into the supply hopper,
pushing it until you feel that the material is being pulled in.
4. Do not exceed the crusher feed to avoid overworking the engine.
Tightening
Because this equipment experiences constant vibration caused by impact of crushed or chopped products, the natural tendency is for the bolts to loosen over time. For this reason, they should be checked periodically and all bolts should be retightened if necessary. Check them periodically, and if necessary tighten the loose screws. Be careful not to overtighten as they may strip.
Attention!
Always turn off shredder and unplug it before servicing or cleaning.

Motor Installation
Electric
TRAPP shredders, single or three phase, are fitted with single voltage motors
(127 or 220 V) or dual voltage (127 and 220 V). Dual voltage motor models
allow for selecting the desired voltage according to the electrical grid.
To correctly make the connection, see data shown on the motor plate and the
number printed on the insulation of the wires.
For shredders sold without motor, the choice of minimum output shall follow
the technical data shown on pg. 25.
Attention!
Before making any connections, make sure power source is disconnected.
1. Make sure the power source where the shredder will be installed is
compatible with the data shown on the motor plate.
2. Disconnect the power source to make motor connections.
3. Make the connections shown according to the voltage of the power source.
4. To protect the wiring, use connection terminals for the connections.
5. Make sure the connections are well insulated.
6. Turn on power source and check the rotation of the shredder.
7. If the engine rotation needs to be reversed, note the indication on the
engine for this purpose.

Gasoline
Ensure the motor has oil in the crankcase and at the correct level.
Check if the fuel tank is fueled with regular gasoline and if the fuel valve
(1) is open.

Allow the motor to heat up for some minutes, and return the choke lever to the
initial position.
Move the throttle lever (4) to reach maximum rotation and start the job.
To turn the motor off, close the fuel valve (1) and allow the motor to operate
until all the fuel in the carburetor is consumed. As soon as the motor turns
off due to lack of fuel, turn the on/off button (2) off.
Turning the motor off this way facilitates the motor start when it has to be
started again. For further information on the motor, see the motor manual or
contact an Authorized TRAPP Technical Assistant.
To rapidly turn the motor off in case of emergency,turn the on/off switch (2)
off.
Note: For further information on the operation, refer to the motor manual.
Turn the motor on/off (2) button and move the choke lever (3) and move the
throttle lever (4) towards the rabbit.
Pull slightly the retractable starter (5) until you find strength and then
pull it abruptly. Repeat this operation until the engine runs. Release the
rewind starter rope gently to avoid damaging the engine’s covers.
Operation Instructions
Checking:
Before operating the shredder check:
If there are tools or objects on the motor or on the equipment, mainly inside
the grain funnel or in the green crop feeder.
If there is something obstructing the motor.
If the rotation direction is correct.
If the voltage of the power source is the same of that of the equipment.
If there are people or objects near pulleys and belts. If the shredder cover
is properly closed. If the counter cutting blade is properly set and
tightened (pg. 31).
Note: If the equipment is properly prepared,
start the motor, allow it to reach maximum revolution and start working.

Before starting the engine, make sure the belt tensioner lever (1) is in idle
position, as shown in Figure A. As soon as the engine is on and reaches
maximum speed, slowly engage the belt tensioner lever (1) as shown in Figure
B. When engaging the belt tensioner, if you realize that the machine’s disc is
not turning, stop the engine and check the belts as directed on page 32.

Rubber Pad
The rubber pads (1) are supplied dismounted, in order to mount the pads (1), remove the nuts (2) and washers (3) from the screw and mount in the holes located in the machine frame mounting base (4). Then, place the washers and the nut and slightly tighten it, as shown in the Figure C.
Note: Do not attach the machine to the floor,
let it unattached with all the feet laying on a leveled basis and with the
rubber pads in order to absorb the equipment vibration. Attaching the machine
to the floor leads to a warranty loss.

Maintenance Instructions
Counter cutting blade
Periodic tightening of screws as well as the adjustment of the counter cutting
blades are essential. To adjust, loosen the hex-head nut (1) as shown in
Figure 1 and move the counter-blade until the blades are at a distance of
approximately 1.5 mm for TRP 30 and TRP 40, 2.0 mm for TRP 40G and 4.0 mm for
TRP 400 (Figure 2). The counter cutting blade shall be substituted when worn
out.

Sharpening of cutting blades
TRAPP crushers/choppers leave the factory with tempered blades. Sharpening
time may vary according to the material to be crushed/chopped. Sharpen the
cutting blades when the edge is dull. Sharpen the side indicated only (Figure
3), trying to keep its original inclination. Whenever sharpening, be careful
to remove the same amount of material from each cutting blade to keep balance
and to avoid vibrations of the axle unit. The cutting blades shall be
substituted whenever optimum sharpening is no longer possible. The cutting
blades shall be substituted whenever optimum sharpening is no longer or not
reach the blade and counter-blade measure.

Maintenance of the belts – TRP 400E / TRP 400G
To remove the belt protection and access the belts, move the belt tensioner
lever to the idle position and follow the instructions below:

To assemble, follow the reverse operation, making sure that the belts are assembled properly and the bolts are duly secured.

Loosen the knob (1) and plain washer (2) attached to the hook (3) and open the
cover (4), thus gaining access to the blades and disc.
With the cover (4) open, loosen the bolts (5) and pressure washer (6) and
remove the knife (7), if necessary, to sharpen or replace the cutting blade.
When finished, assemble the blades in the right position and retighten the
bolts according to the torque recommended on page 34.
Whenever performing this type of maintenance, the machine’s plug should be
removed from the electrical grid and the cutting disc should be stopped.
Wearing gloves is important to keep from cutting the hands with the cutting
blades.

Filling the Tank – TRP 40G and TRP 400G
Avoid using fuel that has been stored for more than seven days as it causes
malfunctioning and decreases the useful life of the engine.
Fill the tank carefully not to spill the fuel.
Use common gasoline only.
Note the capacity of the fuel tank, and the quantity and type of oil of the
crankcase (see “Technical Specifications”).
Warning!
Be careful: Fuel is highly flammable. Close the tank, thoroughly tightening
the cover to avoid leakage. Never fill the tank with the motor on.
Switch the motor off before removing the fuel cover.
It is not advisable to fill the fuel tank while the engine is hot.

Changing the Oil – TRP 40G and TRP 400G
The first oil change must be conducted in the first 5 hours of motor use. To
change the oil, proceed as follows:
1. Place the crusher on a leveled and flat surface. 2. Hot oil will drain
better.
3. Collect used oil in proper container and wear appropriate glasses and
globes during the oil change.
4. Open the oil drainage plug (1) so as to drain the oil from the engine.
Remove the oil inspection cap (2) to facilitate the drainage of all the motor
oil.
6. Remove the cap (2) and add the required amount of oil and, then, close the
cap (2).
7. Check the oil level with the inspection cap (2). For a precise reading,
with the motor leveled, check if the oil reached the bottom of the thread
where the inspection cap is threaded, this is the correct level.

Attention!
If motor is hot when changing oil, be careful to remove oil container. Hot oil
is released with more pressure, and may cause burns.
Do not place oil containers or discarded motor oil into common waste bins or
on the soil, follow the oil manufacturer’s instruction to correctly discard
it.
5. When oil has been fully drained, screw back oil container (1).

Note:
Frequently check level of motor oil to prevent damage due to lack of oil.
Air Filter – TRP 40G and TR 400G
Warning!
All maintenance and cleaning should be made with the equipment switched off
and the spark plug wire disconnected.
The air filter shall be always clean for the engine to work perfectly.
Blocking of the filter due to lack of cleaning causes serious operating
problems for the engine, among them loss of power, and damage to the cylinder,
piston and piston rings.
Air filter – foam
Dip and tighten (do not twist) it in a solution of neutral detergent water,
removing all the dirt.
Dry it, rolling and pressing it in a dry cloth (do not twist it).

Moisten the filter slightly with clean oil (20W-50),
always pressing it to distribute the oil equally,
removing the excess. If necessary, replace with a new filter.

Air filter – paper
Pass compressed air from inside to outside the filter or knocking its base
lightly against a flat surface. If necessary, replace with a new filter.

1. Unplug the shredder. Open the lid and remove the excess material into the machine. Close the lid, turn the machine on and allow it to reach the maximum speed then restart the work, controlling the power to the machine.

1. Maintain continuous feeding, yet not overfeeding which may cause shredder
to jam.

Warranty Term
Metalúrgica TRAPP Ltda. warrants this product to be free from manufacturing
defects for 12 (twelve) months from the purchase date on the Invoice.
The legal warranty is included in the warranty term stated in the previous
paragraph, which is divided as follows:
The first 3 (three) months – legal warranty.
The following 9 (nine) months – special warranty offered by Metalúrgica TRAPP
Ltda.
The legal and/or special warranty covers:
Notes: All parts proven to be
defective will be replaced for free. The product, however, will not the
exchanged.
The purchaser will be responsible for packaging and transportation expenses to
TRAPP nearest Assistance Shop.
This warranty will only apply if product invoice is presented.
This product is subject to technical specification changes without previous
notice.
Manufacturing defects such as assembly error, material failure and respective labor to fix the problem after Metalúrgica TRAPP Ltda. technicians or accredited technicians attest the condition.

The legal/special warranty does not cover:
Defects caused by improper use such as lack of lubrication (lack of oil),
addition of mixtures to gasoline or oil, excess of oil in crankcase, broken
shaft, loss of parts, broken or dented parts or damage due to careless
transportation, storage, preventive maintenance such: as motor and actuation
device adjustment.
Parts such as spark plugs, lubricants, joints in general, broken or bent
crankshaft, fuel filter, air filter and retainers are exempt from warranty.
Damages due to accidents, improver use, negligence, ignorance or noncompliance
with the instructions in the Instructions Manual. Also, the warranty does not
apply if there are signs of product having been adjusted, repaired or
disassembled by people not authorized by Metalúrgica TRAPP Ltda., if the
product has been exposed to humidity, weather, saline air, etc., or if parts
have naturally worn.

look for TRAPP Authorized Technical Assistance. For your convenience, always
keep the Instructions Manual and the Invoice at hand.
