Product Usage Instructions

  1. Place the vehicle on a lift or four jack stands at maximum height.
  2. Loosen the butt connect clamps of the factory cat-back system using a 15mm socket. Retain these clamps for later use.
  3. Remove the factory system in one piece. You can use liquid soap on the factory rubber insulators to aid in this step. No cutting is required.
  4. Install the two PVA12 adapters into the front of the HFM80/XFM80 mid-pipe using two HVC24 clamps.
  5. Install the mid-pipe assembly into the car, reusing the two factory butt connect clamps. Keep all clamps loose until final adjustment. Make sure the support rod welded to the back of the mufflers faces the ground.
  6. Install the TFM80LF/TFM80RF tailpipe sections into the factory rubber isolators and onto the mufflers using two HVC24 clamps atthe muffler.
  7. Install the remaining two tailpipe sections TFM80LR/TFM80RR by running a wire form hanger through the factory rubber insulators first and then connecting the slip fit joints. Use two HVC24 clamps at this connection followed by the tips.
  8. Align and tighten the clamps. Start by tightening the two clamps forward of the box, followed by the factory butt connect clamps. Then tighten the tailpipe sections after aligning the tips in the openings of the valance. Use air tools for these steps if possible.
  9. Start your car and check for exhaust leaks. Condensation drips from the slip joints are normal for the first few miles of driving until the system is fully seated.

Note: When tightening the HVC21/24/25/26 band clamps, make sure the I-block in the center of the clamp is against the head of the bolt to ensure proper tightening and prevent breakage. Now you can enjoy your new Pypes Performance Exhaust and experience enhanced performance and sound in your Mustang GT.

Using Instructions

  1. Begin by placing the vehicle on a lift or four jack stands at maximum height.
  2. Unbolt your factory system cat-back by loosening the butt connect clamps using a 15mm socket. Retain these clamps because they will be reused later in the installation.
  3. Once these clamps are loose, the factory system can be removed in once piece. The use of liquid soap on the factory rubber insulators will aid in this step. There is no cutting required.
  4. Now it’s time to start the installation of your new system. Begin by installing the two PVA12 adapters using two HVC24 clamps into the front of the HFM80/XFM80 mid-pipe. Next install the mid-pipe assembly into the car, reusing the two factory butt connect clamps, keeping all the clamps loose until final adjustment. Note: the mid-pipe has a support rod welded to the back of the mufflers. This rod should face the ground and mufflers tuck up nicely following the lines in the gas tank.
  5. Next, install the TFM80LF/TFM80RF tailpipe sections into the factory rubber isolators, then onto the mufflers using two more HVC24 clamps at the muffler. The remaining two tailpipe sections TFM80LR/TFM80RR are easiest to install by running a wire form hanger through the factory rubber insulators first and then connecting the slip fit joints. Use the two remaining HVC24 clamps at this connection followed by the tips.
  6. Now that everything is installed loosely, you can begin the alignment and tightening process. Making sure the midpipe is flat, follow the gas tank and tighten the two clamps forward of the box, followed by the factory butt connect clamps.
  7. Next tighten the tailpipe sections, but only after you have the tips aligned in the openings of the valance. Tighten the tips and your installation is complete. Note: The use of air tools is highly recommended for these steps.
  8. Lastly, start your car and check for exhaust leaks. Condensation drips from the slip joints are normal for the first few miles of driving until the system is fully seated.
    • Note: When tightening the HVC21/24/25/26 band clamps, make sure the I-block in the center of the clamp is against the head of the bolt. Failure to do so will result in the clamp not tightening properly or the I-block to break.

Now it’s time to fire up that muscle car and enjoy your new Pypes Performance Exhaust.
