-
Place the vehicle on a lift or four jack stands. To help your installation, pre-fit the components into a complete system on your garage floor using the picture as a reference.
-
To remove the factory system, unbolt the clamp attaching the tailpipe to the muffler followed by unbolting the midpipes at the two flanges before the muffler.
Note: Do not discard or damage the factory fasteners, gaskets and rubber insulators because they will be reused. -
Begin installing your new Pypes system by loosely bolting the new midpipes with flanges to the factory manifold downpipes using the factory copper seals and bolts followed by the YTT10 Y-pipe.
-
The muffler is next. Use the HVH19S hanger clamp on the back of the muffler and the factory rubber isolator closest to the center of the truck. Follow that by the TTT10 tailpipe inserting the hanger on the pipe in the factory rubber isolator near the spare tire and then into the muffler. Lastly, install the short 3″ tailpipe, YFT39 Y-pipe and tips.
-
With all the components loosely installed, adjust the system for overall aesthetics and clearance. Once the final position has been chosen, evenly tighten all fasteners from front to rear. The supplied band clamps must be very tight to properly hold the alignment of the pipes and prevent leaks. Air tools are recommend-ed for this step but if you do not have access to them, torque all clamps to a minimum of 40ft-lbs.
-
Recheck all clamps and connections within the first 100 miles of driving.
Note: Toyota used high temp RTV sealant to seal the two mid-pipe flanges.
If a leak develops here it’s acceptable to add RTV sealant to this area.
Now it’s time to fire up your truck and enjoy your new Pypes Performance
