986 Fibre Optic Interface
23-245 basic wiring diagram, excluding Red (ACC power) and orange (Illumination) fly leads. See page 2 for further information.
*To adjust out external noise we recommend that this part is used in conjunction with our 2 channel RCA ground loop isolator 20-290-2CHP. (Sold separately)
The red ACC power cable needs to be run from the back of the radio to the fuse
box which is located behind the drivers kick panel. Make sure that the cable
is tied up neatly with cable ties or loom tape to avoid it becoming tangled in
the vehicles controls.
The interface comes with a 7.5amp fuse to protect the circuit to the radio.
The fuse holder needs to be connected to a switched live feed in the fuse box.
We have used fuse E1 in the example which is highlighted yellow and circled in
the below diagram:
In the spare slot on the fuse holder, insert the same specification fuse that
was originally in the slot in the fuse box that it has been connected to.
The orange illumination cable needs to be run from the back of the radio to an
illumination circuit on the car. We have found the easiest one to use is on
the wiring for the cigarette lighter. The blue and grey wire controls the
illumination. Either use the supplied quick splice connector or solder them
together as pictured below.
The purple wire for the reverse feed is for switching to an aftermarket
reverse camera if fitted when the vehicle is put into reverse gear.
The speed pulse is used when connecting an aftermarket radio with GPS and some
other Kenwood sets.
