Check the Fit of the Flange

The Advanced Single Electric Pump works with the Evenflo AdvancedFit™ Flange System. The Advanced Single Electric Pump comes with the Large 30.5mm base flange size and the Medium 28.0mm silicone flange insert. Additional sizes are available separately for purchase, allowing you to find your best fit.

The AdvancedFit™ Flange System available sizes include:

  • 21.0mm (insert)
  • 24.5mm (insert)
  • 28.0mm (insert)
  • 30.5mm (no insert)
  • 33.0mm (insert)
  • 36.0mm (no insert)

To use silicone flange insert, press it into the tunnel of the hard flange firmly. Then ensure that the outside edges of the insert wrap around the hard flange.

Correct Flange Size vs. Too Small or Too Large
A proper flange size is needed for comfort and to maintain your milk supply. Your flange size can change several times throughout your journey. Recheck your flange fit frequently to ensure you are using the proper flange size.

  • FLANGE TOO SMALL While pumping, some or all of your nipple rubs against the sides of the tunnel. Use a larger size.
  • CORRECT FLANGE SIZE While pumping, your nipple should move freely in the flange tunnel. You should see space around the nipple. A minimal amount of your areola is drawn into the tunnel with the nipple.
  • FLANGE TOO LARGE While pumping, too much of the areola is drawn into the tunnel with your nipple. Your areola may rub against the side of the tunnel. Use a smaller size.evenflo-feeding-3045-416-Advanced-Single-Electric-Breast-Pump-12

IMPORTANT

  • DO NOT use the flange insert if your nipple is larger than the center opening.
  • Your breast may change over time. Should this occur, choose a different size for maximum comfort.
  • Included flange sizes may not fit all breast and nipple sizes, but additional sizes can be purchased separately. If you are having issues after trying all included sizes, please contact our Parent’s Ally Consumer Care for assistance.
  1. Stimulate your milk release before attaching the pump to maximize your pumping results by:

  2. Relaxing and thinking about your baby.

  3. Gently massaging your breasts, starting on the outside of your breast working down toward the nipple.

  4. Applying warm, moist compresses; continue until you can hand-express a few drops of milk.

  5. Now you should be ready to use your pump.

  6. For best results, hold the pump by the flange A. Place the flange A against your breast with your nipple centered in the flange tunnel. Press directly against your breast to create a good seal.

  7. DO NOT hold the pump unit while pumping. For best results, hold the flange directly.
Note: Be sure the outside edge of the flange has a complete seal against the breast without excessive pressure.

  8. Turn on the pump by turning the control dial B clockwise to begin pumping. To increase suction, gradually turn the control dial clock-wise to reach the level that is most comfort-able for you. To reduce suction, turn the control dial B counterclockwise.3. Turn on the pump by turning the control dial B clockwise to begin pumping. To increase suction, gradually turn the control dial clock-wise to reach the level that is most comfort-able for you. To reduce suction, turn the control dial B counterclockwise.

IMPORTANT
If you feel pain in your breast or nipple, turn the pump off (see next page) or slide a finger be-tween the flange and your breast to immediately break the suction. If you feel discomfort at every suction level, turn the pump off and contact your healthcare provider for assistance.

  • Continue pumping until milk is no longer flowing. Do not fill bottle above the 5 oz/150 mL line.
  • After milk has been expressed from one breast, turn control dial B counterclockwise until pump unit is in the OFF position. If nec-essary, slide a finger between the flange and your breast to break any remaining suction, then remove the flange.
  • Massage your other breast to stimulate a milk release, as before, and repeat steps 2 through 4. If desired, massage the first breast again and repeat on both sides to maximize expression.
  • Carefully unscrew bottle from pump. Place the sealing disc C into the cap ring D and screw securely onto the bottle E. Your breast milk is now ready for storage.
Note: Information on storing breast milk can be found on page 11.

After Every Use

WARNING
NEVER immerse pump unit or AC adapter in water or attempt to sanitize in a micro-wave oven. Damage to parts and oven may occur.

To ensure that your breast pump performs well, follow these steps after every use:

  • Completely disassemble the flange assembly, see page 4.

  • Wipe the pump unit with a clean, damp cloth.

  • Rinse the flange assembly (all parts EXCEPT the pump unit and AC adapter) in cool water to remove milk residue.

  • Hand wash with warm, soapy water (approx +30°C / +86°F).

  • To prevent warping, do not place anything on top of pump parts during sanitizing, washing, or drying. Do not assemble pump until parts are cool and dry.

  • Rinse thoroughly and air dry before assembly. You may also wash your
flange assembly (after rinsing) on the top rack of your dishwasher (take care not to rest dishes on top of pump parts).

  • Use care when handling the valve/membrane assembly during cleaning to avoid dam-age. Visually inspect the individual components for cracks, chips, tears, or deteriora-tion. In the event that damage to the device is observed, please discontinue use until the damaged parts have been replaced.

Storing Your Breast Milk

  1. After sealing your bottle tightly with the sealing disc and cap ring, label the bottle with the date and time the milk was expressed.
  2. Use the chart on the following page as a guide for storing your breast milk for future use.
Note: In hot weather, chill milk immediately to prevent spoilage.

**Breast Milk Storage Guidelines***

| Room Temperature| Refrigerator| Freezer
---|---|---|---
Freshly Expressed Breast Milk| Up to 4 hours| Up to 4 days| Within 6 months is best Up to 12 months is acceptable
Thawed Breast Milk (frozen)| 1 – 2 hours| 24 hours| NEVER re-freeze milk after it has thawed

Note: Breast milk should be stored in the refrigerator or freezer compartment away from the door to avoid changes in temperature.

For models that include a cooler bag:

  1. Place frozen ice packs in the included cooler bag.
  2. Place the sealed bottle(s) inside and zip the bag closed.
  3. When frozen ice packs are used and the cooler bag is kept at room temperature of 68 – 77° F (20 – 25° C), breast milk can be safely stored for up to 10 hours.
Note: Avoid storing the cooler bag in a hot closet, cabinet, or car.

Using Your Breast Milk

  1. Thaw frozen milk slowly in the refrigerator. Avoid letting milk sit out at room temperature to thaw. (For quicker thawing, hold container under running water – start with cool water and gradually increase the temperature.)
  2. Just before feeding, you may warm refrigerated milk:
  3. Hold the sealed bottle under warm, running water, or
  4. Use a bottle warmer to the manufacturer’s instructions, or
  5. Heat water in a cup or other small container, then place sealed bottle in the water to warm.
  6. DO NOT heat breast milk for more than 20 minutes.
  7. The milk fat may separate while stored. Briefly shake or swirl milk to mix before offering it to baby.
  8. If feeding from the collection bottle, you must use Evenflo Balance +Standard Nipples. Other brands or types of nipples will not work effectively. When using the Evenflo Balance + Standard Nipples for feeding, squeeze nipple base and insert through the TOP of the cap ring. Once lip is inside cap ring, release the nipple and lightly push the inside lip towards the edge. Hand-tighten cap ring with care not to over or under tighten. Evenflo Balance + Standard Nipples sold separately.
  9.  Always test the temperature of the milk before feeding.

IMPORTANT

  • NEVER microwave human milk or heat directly on the stove.
  • If baby does not finish breast milk at one feeding, unfinished amount must be discarded within 2 hours.
  • Cool freshly pumped breast milk before adding to refrigerated or frozen breast milk.

Maintenance

For optimal performance, keep spare parts on hand. Replace at the first sign of wear or if you pump less milk than expected. It is normal for pump parts to lose elasticity and wear over time with use, washing, and sanitizing. Here is a guide for pump maintenance.
