Presentation of the Backup Recovery Tool
- Backup and recover the system of Harmony GTU boxes.
- Read and write complete CFast or SD card from/to an image file. The card will be completely saved in one file.
You can compress and verify system image file during the backup operation. For
HMIG5U, the original system is included in the backup and recovery DVD1,
delivered with Harmony product.
1 The recover DVD is not included in some Open Box models. In this case, back up the data with the factory settings or after installing the rquired application programs.
Backing up the System with a PC Requirements
CFast/SD card memory card reader/writer depending of the box model. Computer running Windows®:
- Windows® 7 (32/64bit)
- Windows® 8 (32/64bit)
- Windows® Embedded Standard 7 (32/64bit)
- Windows® 10 (32/64bit)
Procedure
To back up the system with a PC, please follow the steps given below:
Note: Do not back up the CFast card with either hibernation or HORM enabled.

1 | Insert the CFast/SD card (from Harmony GTU boxes) in the card reader of |
PC.
2| Launch Backup Recovery available on Backup and Recovery DVD or
Start Menu.
3| Select type of media: CFast/SD card.

4 | In the Backup & Recovery window: |
- Select the file name and location where to create the Image file.
- **** Refresh the drive letter by clicking the corresponding button.
- **** Select the card to be backed up in the dropdown list.
- ** Select the Compress and/or Verify** check boxes.
- Click the Backup button.
- A bar graph displays the progress. At 100% the backup time is displayed, exit using the Exit button.
Restoring the system with a PC
CFast /SD card memory card reader/writer depending of the box model. Computer running Windows®:
- Windows® 7 (32/64bit)
- Windows® 8 (32/64bit)
- Windows® Embedded Standard 7 (32/64bit)
- Windows® 10 (32/64bit)
To restore the system with a PC, please follow the steps given below:

1 | Insert the target CFast/SD card in the card reader of PC. |
2 | Launch BackupRecovery available on Backup and Recovery DVD or Start |
Menu.
3| Select type of media: CFast/SD card.

- **** Select the file name and location where the source system to recover is located.
- Refresh the drive letter clicking the corresponding button.
- **** Select the CFast /SD card to be recovered.
- ** Click the Recovery** button.
- A bar graph displays the progress. At 100% the backup time is displayed, exit using the Exit button.
Backing up the System from HMIG5U
Requirements
- A CFast with boot system.
- A second CFast with the system to backup.
- An external archive media (hard disk drive or USB key) connected to the USB port.
- Note : You can use either a system CFast from another HMIG5U or create a new system CFast by following the procedure to recover the system from the HMIG5See page 11).
- Note: A second CFast for system backup is not included with HMIG5. Schneider Electric reference (32 GB) CFast: HMIZCFA32S.
Preconditions

Make sure the space on the external archive media connected on the USB port
is sufficient.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.
Procedure
To backup the system from the HMIG5 please follow the steps given below:
Note: Do not back up the CFast card with either hibernation or HORM enabled.

1 | Insert the boot system Cast in the slot 1 (system card). |
2 | Insert the system Cast to be backed up in the slot 2. |
3 | Start the HMIG5Ulll system. |
4 | Launch Backup Recovery available on Backup and Recovery DVD or Start |
Menu.

Restoring the System from HMIG
- A CFast with boot system.
- A second CFast (blank).
- An image file to recover
- From the backup and recovery DVD.
- From an external archive media (hard disk drive or USB key).
- Note: A second CFast for system backup is not included with HMIG5 Schneider Electric reference (32 GB) CFast: HMIZCFA32S.
- Note : Data will be overwritten if second CFast is not blank.
Procedure
To restore the system from the HMIG, please follow the steps given below.

2 | Insert destination CFast in the slot 2. |
3 | Start the HMIG5Ulll system. |
4 | Launch BackupRecovery available on Backup and Recovery DVD or Start |
