EXTERIOR CLEANING
Let the kettle cool down before cleaning. Before you clean your kettle, unplug
it and make sure all water is poured out from the kettle. Do not immerse the
appliance or its base in water or any other liquid or hold it under a running
tap to clean.
Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth or sponge. Remove
stubborn spots with a cloth moistened with mild liquid detergent. Do not use
abrasive scouring pads or powers.
From time to time, depending on the nature of your water supply a boiled scale
deposit is naturally formed and can be found mostly adhered to the heating
element.
The amount of boiled scale deposited (and subsequently the need to clean or
rescale) largely depends on the water hardness in your area and the frequency
with which the kettle is used.
Boiled scale is not harmful to your health, but if poured into the beverage,
can give a powdery taste to the drink. Therefore, the kettle should be
descaled periodically as indicated below.
